The New Phone Thread

Out if interest, does your brand new Pixel rattle?

Mine and the Wife's Pixel 6 Pro's developed a rattle noise from the camera after a week or two (when I noticed anyway). Googling seems to suggest it's normal and everything works as it should still. But doesn't seem right.

My 6 also rattles, honestly hadn't noticed it until I read your post above and gave it a shake. Can't see why it would be a problem unless extreme stealthy use of said phone was a requirement.
Same as Mark. Hadn't noticed it until you asked and I gave it a little shake, but yet, just a little rattle.

What kind of contracts are you guys getting. Better half fancied an iPhone buy has mentioned the pixel.

We've had them since launch. But I feel like it's gotten a little louder. Can hear it walking up and down the stairs sometimes when it's in my pocket. Not sure what the warranty is on them, but just hopeful it last. As wasn't planning on a replacement for at least a couple of years or more.

Happy with it other than that though

I will be upgrading next month.

I'm currently on £65 a month so ideally would like something a bit cheaper. Any recommendations on something flagshippy?

My S21 ultra is doing my head in now.
It drops 4G and doesn't go back to 4G unless I restart it.

Might look at sending it off to Samsung

It's annoying because my mate 20 Pro was class for signal, and the camera was brilliant for its time too.

The mate 20 is probably the best phone I've had. My current s20 I hate in comparison

I've still got mine upstairs. I worry if I start using it again I won't pick the S21 back up 🤣

It’s the telephoto or the updated camera lense. It has optics in it now. It’s the same on every phone with one. Surprised so many still don’t know this.

S21 Ultra is actually a bit too big. Otherwise it's pretty good.
Occasionally a bit buggy which is annoying.
Samsung health apps are good clearing memory etc.

I currently pay £26 a month for 30gb data on a pixel 6 with Vodafone.

Last two phones I've had are Note 10 and OnePlus 8T and imo it's better than both. The camera is amazing on it!

Like yourself I wanted to reduce cost and came from £66 per month

Basically all cameras rattle. Phone or otherwise. It's the optical image stabilisation in the lens so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Some are louder or have more movement than others but it's perfectly normal.
Recently found out my S21 can't record smooth slow mo video. It lags and stutters. Apparently they all do it and there's no fix :(
This is annoying! I've noticed the same with my ultra. It's like it drops frames and I thought it was an issue with my phone but looks like you're right. Only seems to have happened since the latest OS update though so hopefully they manage to fix it with another update at some point.

I can't say I've ever had a camera or a phone that rattles, and I wasn't expecting my brand new Pixel to rattle either to be honest. Like I said I googled it when I noticed it and realised the advise was as you say, it's normal for these types of lens. But with it being the only phone or camera I've ever had that does it, wanted to ask the question.

The signal is the only real downside I found with this phone. Not had that issue but signal is definitely weaker than it was on the S8+ I had before it.

I'm guessing you might have tried this which is supposed to help if your not in a 5G area anyway it's pointless having it selected.

I don't know anyone that has had issues. My missus has had hers from new. It also won like 100 phone of the year awards including MKBHD's.

Anyway Vodafone trying to suck me in for the new Ultra!!!! Eeeeek! Can I hold out! Will consumerism eat me!

Mines from New too. It can win all the awards it wants when it's just been released.
Year into ownership and updates etc it started to surface that there's an issue.

Have a read up on it, there's a lot of people with same issue on the Samsung forum. A lot say its since android 12 update too

My Ultra was the same. Amazing till the update.
Download Samsung Good Guardians ( yes it's a Hello Kitty esque name).
It's good at clearing stuff.

Loving these

Sorry to sound like a negative nelly but...

As cool as folding/sliding phones look and are, why? Just why! I dont want a phone that doubles in size. My Note 20 Ultra 5G is massive, as phones go. Not once have I thought 'ah but I wish it was the same size as my ipad or laptop'. However, I frequently find myself wanting more battery life. Yeah, it gets used a lot as I use it for work but it still struggles to do the whole day with heavy usage.

Each to their own but id rather have my note 20 with a bigger battery than a bigger phone any day of the week!

On a more postive note -

Some mega sim only deals around at the moment chaps.

o2 offering me a 'upgrade' from my current £20/month unlimited texts and calls, 150gb data to £11/month (first 6 months) then £22/month but with 250gb data.

Also, for my work sim, Vodaphone have done me £6/month with unlimited and 4gb data. Sorted!

I managed to squeeze the guy down yesterday for a new s22u. The Evo deals make a little sense. Essentially you pay for the phone over the months of contract and then you plan. The phone is 50 a month roughly which is same as Samsung charge and the plan was only £8! I couldn't really argue with his sell... But still not a yes from me... Yet!

Reckon it's better to go sim only and buy a phone outright then?
See my post. If I bought a new phone and then sim only it would actually cost me more.

If buying used SIM only is a great way to go. Hence why I haven't said yes yet!

Is that deal over 3 years? I see 02 are 36 months as standard now. Take it down to 24 and the price goes mental.

Yeah f**k that.

Been looking at the one plus 10 pro which looks nice.

Google pixel 6 Pro was looking nice till I saw the curved screen. Unfortunately they're a f**king pain to put a protector on. Learnt the hard way with my S20 ultra...

Amazing how cheap they are in reality. I paid £1200 for my S20 ultra and thought that was okay...at the time ofc.
