The PCD changed on the Blob-Eye shape.
The easy way to tell is if it has rear arch spats it's a later car with 5x114.3mm PCD.
I'm pretty sure that model also gained the DCCD. 6 speed box.
Think the earliest cars to have the later stud pattern will be'54' plate.
From then on,all Sti models are 5x114.3.

Thought I'd give this a bump (cheers @imprezaworks).
A lad I've started knocking about with runs Wolverhampton Subaru and seeing his and his mates cars got me thinking that maybe this is a new route for me to go down...
Once I've sold 2 out of the 3 cars I own I'm going to need a daily that can do it all.
I do about 12k miles a year and have a heavy right foot, so is a Scooby going to introduce me to a world of pain?
I'm looking for a cool workhorse rather than polished show car, so which Scooby fits the bill best?
I've no idea on budget really, but I'd want a nice clean one on low miles.

To give you some idea and this is only my case.
My last classic running 330 ish was costing me £40 per week to get to and from work. I never worked out the fuel but I reckon 17ish on a good day. My Clio costs half that and a bit. For me a Scoob is a second car or if you do low miles, I do 6000 a year so could justify it. But after the novelty ran out fuel stops were a chore, like annoying. Took the fun out of the car. It's all relative I guess depending on circumstances, but for me the story ended. I'd love another and the chances are I will at some stage. But doing high ish miles in one pains me. I'd be wanting a boring diesel or petrol to do that.

It's a shame classic imprezas are rarer than a Subaru specialist as with your budget, a cheap ish classic and a diesel would be great. But then you want an allrounder
