Ryan's FF 182

  AB 182 FF
Hello guys, first post on the forum, been signed up for a few months now as I basically knew that I wanted a 182.

Finally managed to pick one up on Friday afternoon after spending a solid week looking at and testing a few different ones.

2005.
Arctic Blue.
FSH.
70,000 miles.
Completely standard.
2 owners.
£2300.

One quick picture from the Auto Trader advert.

Just a few quick iPhone pictures from when I had given it a quick clean the day after, as the weather was nice.

Couple of things that need sorting on it. The guy was asking £3000 and I managed to get him down to £2300 which was decent on my half :)

Service.
New tyre, but I will replace all 4.
New exhaust mount as it has the common fault of a sagging exhaust.

Only thing that I have done to it so far is fitted Osram Diadem front and rear indicator bulbs.

Thanks for looking and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Ryan.

Cheers guys, I'm sure I will.

Long list of things that I want to do with it, but I need to sort some tyres out badly. What would people recommend over Advan AD08's, Michelin Pilot Sport 3's or a set of ContiSports? Or any other recommendations? Had Proxies on the civic and rated them very well, just fancy a change...

How? Is there much wrong with it? If nothing major then I'd say £2300 is an absolute steal for an '05 FF with 70k, probably lower than trade price?

The guy was after a quick sale, already had a guy mess him around that day and I turned up around 5pm. I basically just said I knew it needed a service, tyres and that the wheels needed a refurb, which are all a few hundred quid by themselves. Offered him £2300 and he was saying no less than £2500 for awhile but eventually he dropped. Didn't seem like he'd sold that many cars to tell you the truth and I spent a good amount of time there checking absolutely everything including a folder thick of documents.

Bargain, although I'd plan for the standard exhaust to fall off.

I've been using Hankook V12 evo's for a good few years on mine and still like them.

Is it just a case of changing out the exhaust hangers then? I can see that one is badly perished.

Tyre advice is good to kno! Camskill seem to have an offer on V12's at the minute too. Are they decent in the wet aswell would you say?

More of a joke re the exhaust tbh;). But they are crap and do rust and fall off often..

V12's are very good in the wet in my experience. I've used conti sport contacts (standard ones on 172's), eagle f1's and the v12's cost less and imo are better all round.

haha, you can never tell with French cars though!

Right well I'll definitely look into them. What's the deal over the Michelin Pilot Sport 3's? Were they supposedly designed for the Clio Sport's as I've heard a few people say that. At the minute I have one on the right rear and the other 3 are shitty budgets that I've never heard of and it's twitchy as hell.

If you dont want to spend too much on tyres go for Uniroyal rainsport 2s or Hankook v12s or if you want something higher up the range go for Pirelli Pzero Nero. Michelins are just as good as the Pirellis but not worth the extra £20-30 a tyre.

Okay well cheers for the advice. Was going to ask about the Uniroyals aswell, as I've seen a few mentions about them.

Has it had the belts done? If so, what a bargain!

Yes fella it has, had the belts done at 68,000.

A service wasn't carried out around this time and so it is due its 72k service now. Does anyone know a price of what a Renault dealer would charge for this, purely so that I can keep the service history up to date?
I've never been one for doing so, always done all of the work myself on all of my cars but I wouldn't mind keeping this one 'stamped' as such.

Been looking at the service spreadsheet on K Tecs website and am I correct in thinking that this service is for:

engine oil
oil filter
air filter
diag. check
brake fluid
pollen filter
spark plugs
& coolant..

Any help would be appreciated again guys. Thanks for the comments.

Take it too a specialist mate. Better quality service but a bit cheaper. They will stamp the book too.

Okay well that's decent to know. Had a quick search on here and google and a reasonable one that's close to me seems to be Riverside Revilo up in Stockport, unless anyone knows of any others closer to the Warrington area?

3/4 plates turned up today. I'm sure everyone knows what they look like so no need for a picture really.

Also had my driver's side headlight bulb go today. Swapped the passenger bulb over to make sure that it wasn't the ballast and it was fine. So ordered a set of 6000k Xenon bulbs from hids-direct.co.uk.

I'm also after a 182 splitter if anybody has one for sale? Checked the for sale threads and none seem to be up and only one on eBay is the carbon K-Tec one and don't fancy that just yet...

  2004 Clio RS 182
Get a skoda fabia vrs splitter, cheaper alternative to the £100+ Renault item.

Around £14 from any skoda dealer.

Yeah I will probably go for that option really. Just wanted a standard Cup one but i'll settle for the VRS one.

Still waiting for the Headlight Xenon bulbs to turn up after paying for 1pm Special Delivery on a certain site yesterday afternoon, no sign of them today..

Gave the car a proper detail today and fitted the new plates, but the rain was on/off so it wasn't ideal really.

Also, just a few pictures of the car that I had prior to the 182. The plan was either sell up and get something newer, or it was getting a B18C. Friend of mine has a boosted EK9 which is hella fun.

Re: Ryan's FF 182 - Update

**UPDATE**

Hello again all.

It's been a couple of months since an update. I still have a long list of things that I want to do to the 182, but at the moment, I'm still just enjoying driving it.

Firstly, just a quick picture from the Big Chester Meet 2013.

Good Friday, I shot down to Stoke to meet 'Kez172' and pick up his Piper catback system that was in great condition.
I prefered the look of this exhaust over a couple that are on the market and the noise was exactly what I wanted too.

I have also sprayed the front and rear diamonds gloss black, since the last update.

Shot around the corner to a local garage after picking it up and they fitted it for me for £20. Also fitted brand new hangers. The condition of my standard system was terrible. It was falling apart as they do and water started to gush out of it as he took the old system off.

Bank holiday weekend consisted of detailing jack_h's BG 182 which resulted in the clay bar looking like this.

Eventually getting his car to look like this.

Basic wash process went:
Washed
Clayed
Washed
Polished
Waxed
Sealed
Tyres dressed
Windows polished and sealed.
I'm sure he'll get a thread up soon enough..

Also went for a good few drives over the bank holiday weekend. On the saturday, I went upto Southport with a few mates and managed to grab a few shots just as the sun was setting. Apologies for iPhone quality. A decent camera is on its way shortly.

Then on the Monday night, decided to drive down to the Albert Docks in Liverpool and grab a few more shots. Eventually got sent on our way after hanging around near The Echo Arena for too long taking pictures!

They didn't turn out too great through due to iPhone quality and bad lighting.

There are a few little mods that should be here early next week which include an aluminium foot rest, mist washer jets, aero wipers and a Clio 200 style RS badge.

New Michelin Pilot Sport 3's, wheel refurb, coilovers & whiteline rear arb, brake upgrade, trendlines, carbon goodies, remap etc to come...

C&C welcome.

Thanks.

P.S - Would a mod please move this to the Project Thread section if possible?

Appreciate it! Loved the Trophy at the Chester meet too.

Just finished applying the 200 RS badge earlier.
Thanks bud! It's a shame I couldn't stick around but it was way too cold and I could hear the pub calling me ;) if you see me again come say hi :)

Any photos of the 200 badge?

I seriously need to get some new tyres next. I have 3 'Junyos' and a Michelin PE2 that I swear could have been on since new. Had a play with a Fiesta ST on the way home from Southport then and did the Clio boys proud (obviously) but my god did it feel sketchy at higher speeds.

I know you mentioned camskill but also try blackcircles. Service is great a d do decent deals in tyres and offer fitting at local places near you :)

Yeah a mate of mine mentioned them to me too, so I'll have a look into prices. Also found reasonable prices on mytyres.co.uk too.
