Does the rumble disappear when cornering?car has developed a rumble on the passenger side at 25-30 mph in any gear will then disappear from 30, also have feed back through gear stick, checked wheel bearings, wheels, tyres etc
Any one have any thoughts..... diff gearbox?
TIA
Hi yes any gear it’s speed relatedIn any gear?
Excatly the same with clutch depressed just a constant rumbleHello Turnip, does it still do it out of gear or with the clutch down?
Turnip, maybe its a driveshaft, is there any other juddering or vibrations?
Oh, and Turnip, is it a rotational sound, or a constant rumble?
Hi cornering doesn’t seem to effect itDoes the rumble disappear when cornering?
Play is not always present with a knackered wheel bearing.
Hi will give that a go, mileage is 63k known the car almost all it’s life it’s not had a hard life eitherPop it up on axle stands and run the engine in 2nd gear on tickover.
Assuming the rumble is still audible, stall the left hand wheel and see if the rumble stops, the RH wheel will continue to rotate.
If the rumble stops, you are looking at a driveshaft or wheel bearing, if not, possible mainshaft bearings.
Diff bearings are pretty indestructible on the JC5.
The ABS light will reset itself driving 30 yards or so.
What`s the mileage?
Quite low miles then.Hi will give that a go, mileage is 63k known the car almost all it’s life it’s not had a hard life either
Thanks Adam
Just found a split in the cv boot on the side it’s coming from not much grease inside eitherQuite low miles then.

Fantastic nothings ever easy is it
I’m sure it has the cup suspension ...... any way of checking
Lovely cheers for all the helpCup has 15mm wide ABS ring, not 7.5.
Wheel bearing OD 84 not 72.
Shock absorber to hub spacing 60mm, not 54mm.
Part number for Cup shaft is 8200372167. non Cup 8200352043.
You will also need to drain/refill the gearbox oil.
A lot of people have gone down the J&R £49.95 route, as the genuine is around £148.
You could try putting up a wanted thread on here.
Have fun.
