Very nice build! I've just bought an F reg XR2 myself, wouldn't mind putting it on bike carbs/twin webbers at some point.

Holding onto a half welded door bar FTFW lol

haha! if that wasnt there you would've probs ended up butting me, lol

Half welded?

yah, from earlier in the thread -

''fitted that along with going upto f0xys where his car is stored last night to sort the custom door bars finally, the front of the cage needs removing as the brackets welded onto the cage are only 30-40% welded on as its too tight to get anymore weld on down in the footwell... so when i remove the front part ill be removing the rear too and going to have a few more bars added in, more on that over winter, here's how it is for now -''

Battery tray removed after about 2 hours of faffing with hacksaws, spot weld drill bit, wood chisel and of course a hammer -

IMG_2106.jpg

just sanded and primered over it to protect it for now... probs gonna be best to cut a square out where the holes are and its got quite abit of surface rust too so just probs get a 2mm plate welded over it -

IMG_2101.jpg

bay looks miles emptier now -

IMG_2103.jpg

new Brembo HC discs and ferrodo DS2500 pads fitted now, also copper greased the sliders, it was a mare one of them the grub screws rounded off when tried to undo it so had to drill it out and just nut and bolt the new disc in place and file the head now very slightly so my spacers and wheels sit flush (yes i primered my wheels  )

IMG_2108.jpg

will bed them in later, oh and the old pads, lol -

IMG_2109.jpg

You do realise you don't need the grubs screws in, right.............? The wheel, hub spigot and wheel bolts hold everything in place. The grub screw is just a retainer to stop the disc moving if you fit wheels like a re*ard.

yes i do but i held the disc up and tightened up a wheel bolt and there was like 4mm play so thought why not just find a nut and bolt that fits, luckily had a M6 20mm nut and bolt with a narrow head that needed minimum filing

Very cool!

I'm going to show my brother this thread tomorrow when he pops round, he has two Mk2 Fiesta projects lol. One of them has a Ka engine (daily driver) and the other is an XR2 with a RS2000 conversion. When the XR2 is finished I'd imagine it'll be pretty quick, no doubt he'll be wanting to track it!

My mate Andys Accord type R, all standard engine ATM - got a special one going in soon.
Should be 290bhp min.

(Needs to be to keep up with the 280bhp H22A8 DC2 Rich is running in the Vtec challenge also)

Used to have one that colour, went off them for a bit but love them again now.

haha i think they look great in any colour, i wanted either a tasmin blue one or a mercury grey one so had to get this!

few updates with pictures to come...

Painted the gearbox in hammers**te black, looks miles better the bay now, will be popping upto a mates to tidy up the inner wing and paint it properly over winter sometime.

Ordered 2 1/2meter lengths of 51mm CAF ducting for my brakes, should be here by weekened.

Picking up a new set of trackwheels on my way home from work tomorrow, same 13x6j and offset so ill just swap my R888s and have no other issues and even more brake cooling.

Bought a Polybushed Adjustable Panhard-Rod as a guy makes them on xrtwo and lots of people have had them and recommmended them, plus im currently running one 3.5mm spacer on the O/S/R to match the wheel out to the N/S/R as obvioulsy ill make the adjustable panhard-rod shorter when fitted to pull them beam over which is the whole point of it when a mk1/2 is lowered by more than 30mm.

Also, i need a new N/S/F wheel bearing as it hums/slightly vibrates on and off when cornering either way, so ill just end up doing both fronts tbh then have to alter the tracking AGAIN!

More soon.

new track wheels in a rare set of RS7s -

IMG_2185.jpg

obviously not going to be using the centre caps when on track fitted to try one out see what its like -

IMG_2184.jpg

just need to get the tyres swapped over now!

Polybushed Adjustable Panhard Rod should be here tomorrow along with the cold air feed ducting :)

one polybushed adjustable panhard rod -

IMG_2187.jpg

and fitted -

IMG_2190.jpg

before with the old solid panhard rod the rear was over to the nearside by 4mm, so fitted this up then centralised it by lining a spirit level from the wheel arch to the floor then measuring to the centre cap of each wheel so now its bob on!

cold air feeds done for the brakes too -
