Pure Motorsport Christmas Present

I'm getting hassled to choose something for Christmas so have decided to buy something clio related from pure motorsport as I really like the look of their stuff.

My choices (for a clio 172 cup) are either the top mount and strut brace package or the gear linkage / short shift thing.

Anyone any reccomendations for which I should go for or any other ideas for that kind of money (£250 ish)?

Firstly, nice choice!

I have the PMS top mount kit and it's brilliant quality! Would definitely recommend it, I like the fact you can buy replacement items seperately too. Top mount and brace kit for me!

i have the top mount and brace kit also, and it is 100% needed if you love steering feel and positive turn in :)

butttt i also tried out the shift kit last week and it was also extremely good! and that plus the aircon delete kit and the stud kit will be my purchases when i come back :)

Top mount and strut brace package have been on my 'to buy' list for ages but I never seem to get round to buying them. Highly recommended by Fred as the best solid top mount kit out there so must be good!

I'm kind of drawn to the shift as would probably enjoy it more on a day to day drive but as has been stated, the top mount and brace package is highly rated (and cheaper).

I've got AST top mounts and can't tell a difference in ride quality between them and standard. But I still have standard (albeit new) wishbone bushes.

I have both and both are awesome but...

The top mount and strut brace package will give you 0.5% better turn in/handling on a track day, you'll not notice it on the road except it's clunky/noisey and quite harsh

Whereas the gear shifter kit makes me grin every single time I drive the car, even my 118k old gearbox feels tight and changing gear is like c**king a rifle. The position of it as well is superb and even on a b road thrash it makes the car feel so much nicer not having to stretch to reach the gearstick on the floor

For a christmas present I'd go for the shifter because it's just 100% grin factor.

Also.. epic girlfriend! lol

ooh, nice choice to have.

ive just ordered the top mount and brace package, I had it before and it was a lovely bit of kit.
I can understand the opinions of it being a bit crashy for road usage, but for a track based car I felt it was lovely.

ive also ordered the wishbone strengthening and bearing kit, rear axle bearing kit and the rear axle strengthening kit.
ill probably look at ordering the gear linkage setup once the engine has had a refresh and the engine/box go back into the car.

Rich boy ;)

I have the brace purely to limit shell fatigue over time, I wouldnt be able to tell from driving the car if its on there or not.
So unlike others in this thread I cant really say im personally able to notice any difference with the pure strut brace, and the mounts dont make a huge difference unless your old ones were knackered in the first place either.

Gear linkage though you will really notice, makes the car feel very "because race car"

So if you want something that you really notice rather than something thats more a case of just maintainance really rather than a massive upgrade, go for the shifter.

That said, if your top mounts are worn out, you obviously NEED some new ones anyway, so its different then.

Seriously tempted to go for this myself now after reading that! Loving the performance and handling of my 182 just feel its massively let down by the abysmal gear change... loose, sloppy and almost impossible to find reverse, 1st or 5th without serious levels of concentration.

Is it easy enough for any garage to fit without the need of a Renault specialist?

Are you sure, the PMS package helps give great turn in and a powerflex dogbone improves acceleration..... Or so I'm told by CS.

Flol, yes mate, very sure.
I guess if you are running slicks and datalogging to the nearest 0.1 of a mph you will notice the difference with the strut brace, but on my car and on trackdays in particular, if someone unbolted it I wouldnt notice the difference, but I keep it on there as it should prevent strut top fatigue from the solid mounts.

I'd be going for the shift kit tbh. No experience of either though it'd just be my preference.

Well I'd certainly be interested in taking part in a group buy on the linkage, I'll keep an eye on this and see if anyone manages to organise one!

Take that step forward and see if you can do it, instead of waiting for someone else, especially if you are as interested as you say ;)

Its been done already when they first came out, I'm sure Nick at PMS will be more than happy to knock a few quid off if you get a few guys together.

I honestly wouldn't know how to?? Do I approach PMS myself or does it have to be done via/with permission from Cliosport.net?

Bear in mind I also have seriously limited technical capabilities when it comes to computers and the interweb!

so your not a full on internet warrior and computer geek?
that must make you normal ;)

maybe see what other interest is expressed within this thread for a day or so, then we can make contact with Nick and see if anything can be done as a pre Christmas deal :)

shame it doesn't fit, is there a brace available that does? I sort of like my engine cover!lol!

I would have though the engine cover would fit. From memory there is a fair bit of room under mine.

I'll try it this weekend.

ive witnessed your skills, don't fit it upside down or back to front :p
