For £380 dude theres alot of exhausts on offer that have had alot more money spet on designing them. Check out yozzasport, GDI etc as they all offer systems.

If I'd have wanted to spend around that price then it would hav ebeen a Yozza or BTB system I'd have gone for. Sadly it was an emergency purchase as the standard one went in the morning and I had to drive to Bristol that night so had it done that afternoon.

Luckily it was done pretty well so was happy enough for the price. Their head office is only down the road from the garage so if it was crap it's not far to go to complain :p

I'm going to be getting a custom made stealth cat back from Powerflow for around £300 soon. When I asked about the exhaust, the guy even asked me how loud I wanted it to sound! :)

Glad you like it!

sorry .but do they spend more than renault on r&d??

the bends, dia., and lengths are pretty much the same on all are they not?? material also. on most of the exhausts you quote above.

the powerflow on mine follows the exact lines of the oe one, in same diameter pipe, with free er flowing silencers. i dont for 1 minute think the above companies spend anywhere near on r&d that reno do.

Fair enough you've got a powerflow exhaust and like it, but no way would I just settle for a copy of the standard exhaust. I'd want better welds, smoother bends (something that I’ve read over many car forums powerflow struggles on)

Look at the 172 -> 182, for the extra 10bhp the main factor was the changing of the exhaust system surely this shows the Renault designs don’t put performance first, instead their trying to please the thousands of women and families who want a quiet ride and not an extra 4bhp.

If the standard exhausts were great like your saying there wouldn’t be proven gains by companies like BTB with their 182 system.

End of the day I’d prefer my own Clio to have an exhaust made and designed specialist renault/clio tuners, powerflow can be hit and miss due to it being a franchise, fair play if you find good one.

well i suppose it depends on how you define 'better'

the powerflow on mine, shaved time off the 1/4 mile time, sounded better imo, has lasted 3 times longer than a std one, so far, the welds are ok but im not intrested in looking underneath my car just to say...o look..dont it look shiny. it does its job and exceeds the std item in all areas.

i know what your saying about the franchise side of things, and i believe i do use a good outlet.

btw..i think renault may just have a bit of an idea about these things, especially the rs range and the renaultsport team... i would even go so far as calling them renault clio tuners ;)

I know my reply is a bit late but i'm from Aberdeen and have just had a Stealth Powerflow Cat back stainless Exhaust system fitted to my 172 a few months ago by Turriff Tyres and was impressed with it.

Can't remember how much it was but it was about three hundred and something . :S

By all means go for it mate ;)

Turriff tyres are good and i've had no probs with powerflow in past on my other cars.

As for power gains my last car responded (13bhp gain)well to a powerflow de cat syatem from Turriff Tyres :)

As said the main difference is the actual garage you go to. I have used Topgear in Padiham for years (as does 2live) and I have never had a problem with the service or the product. Infact they are now using a better quality SS than mine which has lasted 4 years of very hard use. Paid £250 for mine and it has been worth every penny but I have also heard of certain garages being dog s**t as well lol

Holy thread revival! I've got a Pure Motorsport sports cat and silenced 'stealth' system on my 172 Cup, but it's still too loud for me. I'm thinking of going down the custom exhaust route to get something quieter made up – anyone used a Powerflow franchise in the South East area? I'm in Kent.
