Has anyone heard about party chat being disabled in game for ranked matches?

Only heard this fleetingly so if anyone has more info that would be great.

Do you like to use the party chat option on your Xbox 360? Well, if you do, you may soon find yourself being forced out of using that option. Microsoft appears to be offering developers the option to negate the private chat option the Xbox 360 offers. Currently, players have the option of forming a private chat with players, but that will soon change.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will force players to decide whether or not they’ll play the game and join the game chat, or choose to stay in a private chat and not play in the multiplayer game. With titles like Gears of War, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: World at War, and many other online based multiplayer titles, the private chat feature became a way of telling other players of enemy locations after being killed.

Such a feature shouldn’t detract from the overall online experience much, but there will surely be some gamers who won’t like the type of feature being implemented. With some gamers only using the private chat to talk to friends while playing different games, this will likely pose a problem for them.

I posted this over on AVForums today, sign the petition if you want

I've just seen this petition over on the IW forum.

As you may have heard, Party Chat is no more in MW2. Have any friends you talk to using Party Chat while they are in another game / lobby? From now, you won't be able to for certain game types.

Extremely bad move sales wise. I won't be able to tell the friends that have not yet purchased Modern Warfare 2 (or other games this will affect) how good the game is and that they should go out and purchase it while I'm playing the game I am trying to convince them to buy, they may wonder why I'm not playing it as I speak to them if it's such a good game?

I used party chat to cheat in search and destroy in MW1. Most did/ do TBF.

Good idea to exclude it for people in the same game. Cross-game exclusion is a bit crap though!

So, as many of you will know, CoD: MW2 developers were involved in a customer Q&A over the net (provided by Best Buy). Apparently anything but the most basic PC questions were banned, so there wasn't a great deal of new news. Here is what we did find out:

1) Dedicated server questions were greeted by being escorted out of the chat.
2) Max players for all versions is 9v9. Yes, I said 9v9.
3) No record feature in MW2 for PC.
4) No lean in the PC version (Mackey-IW: The game is not balanced for lean.)
5) *PC Game is not yet finished

*probably alludes to the fact that there will be future patches given reports that the PC SKU has already shipped.

Is there a console in the PC version of the game, so we can change our field of view from the xbox's default 65 FOV to 80 also can we tweaks the weapon damage for each gun, removes perks, graphical debris, breathing sway, also thru console like we where able to before or is this all gone?

^ You will be able to chat to all of YOUR team. However, in certain game types, your demise signals the end of your ability to communicate with them.

The Xbox has a facility whereby you can chat to anyone (your team/ opponents team/ another game on XBL) that people have exploited to their benefit.

PS3 doesn't have that facility.

i think its a good idea they have diabled party chat during online play, party chat killed back and forth banter between teams etc imo.

It's a good thing IMO, no real good reason to have it except to enable some people to cheat.

i play with my brother alot on it and we use party chat as its erm private and in full game chat you cant really have a full conversation without lots of gay and **n-bomb** comments and other inane drivel

I know but I thought it was funny.

Personally I have never used Private Chat to cheat, I agree it is annoying when other people do it. I think that they should stop same game private chat but I reckon they shouldn't stop you talking to friends on other games!

Finished the Single Player last night. Was expecting it to be longer. However working through the Spec Ops. This is a right pain in the ass.

Single Player main story was awesome though! Looking forward to rinsing it through again next week and knifing you boys

Single player campaign is only 6-8 hours long, sadly.

What is Special Ops mate? Another single player game or do you have to play with others?

Scutch, yeah Spec ops is partly Single Player and some missions need to be Co-Op. It is on the main menu from the word go. I 'THINK' you can play straight away. Things like in the Favela you have to kill 40 Enemys without dieing once. Different grades get you different stars and unlock new campaigns.

Some are tough as nails mind!

Dodgy copy mate! I have a banned flashed xbox in the bedroom I use for AVi's!
