I don't want this to sound rude, but i'm going to say it anyway...

You are on the wrong forum mate! Theres 3/4 mk1 Clio experts on here, but nobody really cares about mk1's on here.

You need to join www.clio16valver.co.uk There are the big boys on here (Whiteley and f0xy) but they are also on ^^ that forum along with a good few others. (Matteh, beaniemoo etc)

Hope this helps. (Love from a 172'd converson boy myself! :D)

cheers no point asking on here if its not the right place lol thanks for the heads up

Too bad Clio16Valver is full of misguided information on the conversion itself these days, along with 172 widetrack too acctually. So many people who think they know what they are on about, but dont :dapprove:

Ive given up replying to the 172 conversion related threads as they just go round in circles, mainly completely wrong details/information/advice from people who cant even change spark plugs, let alone know anything about a conversion.

I was unfortunate and had alot of things go wrong when I did it at the start of last year, but with the initial help from Matteh on here, and ironing out the bugs it is now a conversion that is doable if you research it enough.

Mate if you do a proper project thread and keep it up to date on here I'm sure you'll get a lot of help, and as jord (foxy) seems to be anti 16valver ATM I guess he'd be looking on here more!

Standard engine. Its plenty in a 810kg shell, plus I cant justify stupid money on engine mods/tuning, especially the F4R. Id rather put it into my next project at the end of the 2010.

I could write a complete guide if I could be bothered, its already partially done. But there is no motivation in me finishing it as there would be no reward from doing it really...there are quite a few Mk1 172s out there these days.

I stand corrected!

I was always under the impression that you/chris/matteh/geesus/beanimoo etc spent most of your time over there.

yea see their seems to be more specialised garages on the mainland aswell to do with renault. I'm from Northern Ireland and we dont really have any that specialise on conversion like that or anyone who's done it. All jap over here now. so its hard for me to even take it to someone to get the ball rolling. :(

Back in 2008 when I was starting to think about the conversion, I always used to speak to Matteh on here...although now its a 'popular' conversion there are threads coming up over there all the time.

Its just like here, if people could learn to use the search button, they would see the answer has been posted 50 times or more, even in the same section they create the thread in (which is the thing that pisses me off the most)!

c16v is better in general for mk1s, but there's a resistance to the F4R on there TBH. It'll gradually change IMO, prove something and it gains popularity.

Everyone seems to like taking a nice megane engine, take the head off, and replace it with one that has smaller valves and a distributor....because it's cheaper to make run, that's does my head in daily, lol

  Mk1 F4R
LOL ^ The main man is here (f0xy) and knows wot he is talking about along with a few others as said
16v is good for your normal mk1 stuff but if you are going down the 172'd route more info will be on here about the f4r and buying part etc etc ...
