Whats making you go for a Map at Ed rather than a RS map mate?.

Mainly because I know Alex and they have a good reputation it just so happens that they are only down the road which helps  if I lived up North would probably go to EFI as again they have a good reputation as far as I can tell. Am also hoping that they will be able to tweak the map to suit the mods I will have and get the most out of the car as well  I don't actually know how much they charge for mapping against how much an RS map is?

The Engine Dynamics map and dyno running is around £200 i'm sure which is a good price I think, I originally paid £250 to get mine mapped before locally and that wasn't done by a specialist who can maybe tweek it and wasn't rolling roaded like Andy and the guys can do!! Your both exactly the same as me however in regards to what you expect to get from it, as said, it's not about the power figures, but the drivability and responsiveness etc  It's N/A afterall! I hope to see a decent difference in mine although as said, it IS mapped already. But I didn't know much about these cars then, now I have a much better idea of companies and products to use. To be honest, with the mods and new map, i'll be happy if my 182 makes 180!

I think that is a good price, will be interesting to see what yours is making when you first get it there as is already has a map on it and then afterwards, like you say it's all about the drivability rather than the power, I have said a few times if they could make mine 172bhp that would be good 😂 who knows what it is at the minute!

I'm the same, goodness knows what it'll make......... I mean yes mine is mapped so it should make good power/gains already!! But i'm not convinced, hence i'm getting people who know these cars inside out to do it this time

Well today was the day the list of things that got done thanks to @AlexW was

- Ph1 gearbox
- New OEM Valeo clutch
- PMS gear shifter
- Starter motor
- 182 manifold
- Decat link to exhaust
- Spax RSX coilovers and tracking
- 3mm rear spacers
- 16mm front spacers

Some were planned some got added as we were going  save to say it was busy, Alex is a star, what we managed to get done was impressive! I have a few pics I will upload tomorrow and will try and get some pics of the car as it is now, takeaway time now

Well it was a busy day yesterday, didn't get many pics during because I'm a bit hopeless  I was helping with the work though so that's my excuse

PMS gear shift in place, very interesting picture 😂

Beautiful wrapping and tinfoil on the manifold we removed, one of the reasons it was coming off and because Alex had a 182 manifold
36273351481_836d9b6cdd_b.jpg

Starter motor chewed up, this got added to the list and replaced, the cause was because it was only held on with 2 bolts and had been mashing itself up
36273350801_fc553365a3_b.jpg

My lunch time view

We also weren't planning on adding the spacers but after all the other work was completed and an enthusiastic test drive from Alex, we had some rubbing on the rear so we added the 3mm spacers as a temporary measure, will order some hub spacers this week all being well to replace just have to decide what size. Alex also had the 16mm front spacers with extended bolts so threw them on as well while we were there.

Suspension was set in height when we fitted and left on fully soft yesterday and I have tweaked the damping today, will play around with it to find the best settings for me, will let it settle and possibly tweak the height but it's looking good so far so all being well might not have to.

Loving the PMS gear shifter, slight rattle at 3-4k in 2nd & 3rd but nothing I can't live with and not bad at all, have heard some horror stories and was worried but didn't have any need to. It's so worth it for the positive change in shift. Slight issue getting in reverse, you have to be forceful  all the other 5 gears great so will adjust and see what we can do. Gearbox feels great which was again a worry as you just never know when buying a 2nd hand gearbox so all being well will stay that way.

182 manifold and decat has made the PMS louder and changed the note but sounds great, the PMS is pretty quiet as standard so not a bad thing to add a bit more noise

Grabbed some pics earlier, this is how she looks at the minute

This really is coming on rather well now isn't it, great updates! :grimacing:

Interesting to hear the PMS review, might be tempted one day! Just not sure on how tall the gear lever/knob is but then having it higher up was really quite comfortable on my old Civic Type-R's!

Looking good

It's getting there

Nice work mate, how much difference do you think the 182 manifold will do?.
Also whats next?:grimacing:

From what I understand will help in the mid range and lose a bit at the top end, it feels quicker but that could just be the fact I had all that work done at the same time and am sure when I have a remap and get the most out of it will make a difference but can't imagine it being loads. What's next is a good question  still lot's I want to do including some work on the interior and sort some of the bodywork out but got a good chunk done yesterday  their is always something else, I think we have already had this conversation 😂

It makes a massive difference to the shift, a lot more direct and accurate, you can feel the shift a lot more a lot less vague. I was tempted by the BMS but a few people said go the whole hog and get the PMS so I did, also helped that one got offered to me and I got to test drive in a Ph1 first. My wife got in the car and said that looks ridiculous 😂 but it just feels in a great location, surprising how making it higher makes such a difference, would recommend it, if I ever meet you in real life you can give it a go

It helps I have an Alex down the road  it is getting there just doing what I want to it really no real plans for taking it on track etc. although think I am going to try and get a passenger ride on track soon so I may well get the bug for it

It's looking like a totally different car to the one on page 1! Awesome job bringing it back to life. And now it's receiving choice mods it truly is a newly cherished example. Respect to you sir[emoji106]

Cheers @OssPoop much appreciated, have just gone back and looked at the pics on the first page when it arrived, it has come a long way you don't really realise till someone points it out  just enjoying messing with it

Small update from today, changed the temporary 3mm rear spacers for 10mm hub axle spacers, what a pain in the arse it was fitting them  won't be doing that again in a hurry. Couple of pics below when I got home, was thinking of going for 20mm spacers on the front but am liking the 16mm at the minute. Didn't get round to fitting the rear arch trims I have got or the battery cover so they will have to wait, think I might just take it for a drive tomorrow

Only a small update when we did all the work a few weeks ago noticed that that both the engine and gearbox mount were done for so swapped the engine one today for a brand new one and just need to organise the gearbox mount now. Did 100 miles today and all good

Brand new replacement, need to do something with the bolts but will sort them out at a later date
