  Nissan 350z
Seriously... WTF!?

Jesus christ your paying them £5k for the priveldge of driving something you already own! Seeing how your just throwing money away pass some onto some charity's and do something worth while instead.

I got the Puma quote from Endsleigh, cheaper than their confused.com quote.
I live on the old folks island that is the Isle of Wight so a relativly low risk area but still the quote was £2100. Im paying £1300 on a 106 atm and im looking forward to the step up to the faster car... will feel like a better jump into it even though ive driven it around for a bit already.

You are gonna go a long way in life, someone will always take you're money, but don't put the ins in your dads name, you will pay for it and not get paid out..

Finance as well eh? Go on son, might as well go the whole hog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You've been driving a year and want a near 200bhp car? I've been driving 3 years with 2 convictions, 3 points and one years NCB. I'm paying £1600 TPFT.

Is your £5000 price tag TPFT or FC? It seems ridiculous when your 106 GTI with a grand chucked at it (ecosse air filter, 4-2-1 Manifold and backbox) will easily keep up with a 182 and its £3000 cheaper on insurance! Seems a bit pricey to me!

Not quick enough compared with what!?

This is everyday life not a formula 1 track. You drive to go places not to try and beat everyone else there. If thats what your after then theres track days for those sort of things.

Your dad must as stupid as he is wealthy.
dad wont be paying for it ....i will the payment just come out his bank and il put them back in.

OK, so if at the age of 18 your going to pay for £4.7k for insurance, do you mind me asking how you can afford it? PM me if you prefer but, whatever money spinner you may have, I want in!

(expecting some vague reply suggesting that your dad will actually be paying for it)

Insurance has gone mad i think..........

blimey the most i ever paid when i was 18 - 20 was for a MK1 AVO Mexico Escort worth £1750 i paid £600 Third Party Fire & Theft.

and at 26 was paying £500 fully comp for a RS Turbo Escort Van all built by myself..... full mods, and RS Running gear etc etc...

Insurance has gone through the roof now!

WTF,
Firstly your paying £1100 on a 106 gti, then you drove your brothers Fiesta St. The 106 would be quicker than the ST anyway.

£4700 for fronted insurane, your out of your mind, £2700 would be too much.

Less of the insults guys.

Feel free to voice your concern/opinion but there's no need for name calling.

adams182... may I suggest you take a step back and consider a few things. Firstly what you are doing is illegal, if you are the main driver the car must be insured in your own name.

I'll be sure to check back later on when this thread is either,
A - 10 pages. Or B - locked.

I was going to lock it tbh... but the guy needs as many people as possible to knock sense into him.

As long as it stays on topic the thread will stay open.

I wanted a 172 at 20...but i was never going to be able to afford one and be able afford to have a life every month so i started small like most of us do and then built up a) the no claims bonus and b) the driving experience.

Do you work for a living and earn a small fortune?

(This may be a pointless question as most 18 year olds would be struggling to buy an L plate 106 let alone the insurance)

Yes mate, you are only young once, but what you should have done is go on your own name from the start, earn 2 years no claims and get one when your 19. When insurance is a rather more acceptable (although still a joke) at £1800 TPFT. That is, exactly what I've done.

but thats the things i wont struggle to pay the insurance...it maybe alot but if its what i want...il be willing to pay anythink.

running costs of the car?
petrol, oil, servicing, tyres, wear and tear, the ever increasing car tax (£270)...

have you considered all these things?

only with certain company's and expect to pay a nice lump for the priviledge although that dont seem to be a problem.

To be fair i cant see a problem with buying the car if you've worked hard to earn the cash, surely you deserve to spend it on what you want just if i was spending money ive taken a while to earn on an expensive car i'd want to make sure its insured properly with the high risk that you might ding it ... might not even be your fault someone might reverse into it and drive off... you'd still need to pay for it some way.

But as you've already bought the car makesure you insure it properly, take care of it and dont drive it like a maniac and all should be fine... if you do all that fine then all you've got to watch for is muppets driving around.

Not quick enough for what? What are you planning on doing with it, track days?

Good you luck if that's the car you want. I wish I had £4.7k to spend on something like insurance but just remember if you are in your dad's name the car is for 'borrowing' to go to the shops and 'occasional' drive, you need to let them know if you are commuting to work in it.....

I would have just stuck with the 106 tbf.

Hang on. How is it so high, my 182 is insured for TPFT I had it almost a year now it costs me £1900 just turned 19 at the time I insured it)

Have you had any previous convictions, crashes etc..

As for young people being irrasponsable I'v never faded my brakes dont really break the speed limit down town. Country is different matter though! never dented scratched or really come close to crashing it.

I can afford mine but I have to give up luxries and the car doesnt justify that so its going soon.

Hunt around you will EASULY get a better qoute than that, unless of course this is a piss take which I say fair play too.

4.7K just for insurance!

No thanks, I'd rather I saved that cash by driving my 1.2 for four years, earning NCB then buying the 182 instead of paying say 11K in total for a car, not worth it really IMO.
