Hi All,
Cheeses for reading.
This morning I had some pants news!
Sent my 172 Cup in Friday for its MOT............it failed! The list is fairly long.
I just can't warrant spending the money at this present time as I had been contemplating selling as I really need 7 Seat family wagon at this point in my life.
I guess my question is how much can you sell a lovely Cup that needs TLC for??

Depends what it failed on. If it just needs new bulbs and a handbrake adjustment then it will be worth a lot more than if its got 4 snapped springs, knackered wheel bearings and binding brakes. Do your research on how much it will cost you to get it fixed then work out how much you'd get for it with no MOT (will depend what it failed on) and how much you'd get with a full MOT. I would also factor in the difficulty you might have selling a car with no MOT versus selling it with a full MOT.

yeah depends on fail sheet. is it stuff like tyres, brakes bearings etc then its going to cost someone a fair whack to put right. and you can buy one with an mot for around £1500 for a pretty decent one.
£350-400 perhaps depending on paint condition/corrosion and tyre make
I literally cannot put a price on my Cup..
Around £300 to £350Set of four Speedline Trophy Turinis(ET45 offset). As in the picture. All straight and true with center caps, not the best paint finish on them. Price with tyres Yokohama A509, two new and two 4mm tread at least. Price without tyres. Cheers
So.. what do we think my 172 Cup is worth?
Obviously, I could sell the 2118's seperately. But even unsure what they're worth!

- Speedline 2118's with almost new Dunlop Direzza 03Gs

- MOT is in September
- Decat and straight through pipe with standard rear box
Obviously, I could sell the 2118's seperately. But even unsure what they're worth!

Now, the guy wants 2650 for it however the last cambelt was in august 2010. He claims the last owner had it done in 2013.
any thoughts? My gut feeling is that the beld should be done again and priced accordingly.

Your feels are right.
Sounds like grade A tosh, if it was done in 2010, why would the previous owner have had them done again 3 years later (recommended every 5 years - I get he might be being over-cautious, but I 99% doubt it given it's an expensive job on a relatively cheap car) and the now current owner has no proof.
RB 182 Cup. 54 plate.
Just under 85k
Belts + dephaser done early 2013 at diamond motors
Service history not full afaik but plenty of receipts including receipts totaling for about £2k of work in last 2 years of my ownership.
Milltek exhaust, Matched inlets, Cooksports and a remap.
All 4 tyres have good tread with michelin ps3.
Bad point is that its in need of a door and wing for passenger side because of this..
Only half decent picture I have at the minute..
Not currently for sale but its been on my mind, no idea what its worth but I doubt I'd bother at any less than £2k, thoughts? Bit optimistic maybe with the damage?

I'd say maybe around £2800? I'm probably way out.
What are higher mileage clio trophy's worth these days? Got to sell mine soon. Even though i really do not want to!

Took a gamble and bought with little service history at 48k 5 years ago,
Cambelt changed twice, recent one full job at btm jan 2014 at 95k,
Brembos and oem brakes all round with little wear,
Prospeed exhaust (i bought)
Refurbished dampers and going to have to have koni adjustables on the rear,
New springs all round,
New abs sensors/o2 sensors/bearings,
Wiper mechanism and dd window mechanism,
Alloys ok and bodywork will be decent.

Im the 3rd owner and have owned the car for 5 years, bought it on 39k its now on 51k.
Private Number plate P1 RUK
Engine:- 51k, ARP rod bolts, ALD ported cylinder head with Supertech valves, new valve guides and Catcams 421's
Matched inlets. Car was mapped by Paul at RS Tuning and made 192.1 bhp and just under 160 lbs ft.
Everything has been powder coated and all nuts/bolts plated. Samco hose kit.
Trim:- Mint, with new Snappy steering wheel made from a PH1 rear seat.
Audio:- Becker Grand prix HU, JL audio 5ch amp under the passenger seat, MTX components up front with JL rears. £1k spent
Suspension:- Bilstein coilovers, Powerflex bushes through out (black edition) again everything powder coated
Body:- Very good for its age, stone chips on the front as expected but the cars never been painted.
Wheels:- All 5 have just been refurbished, wheels bolts plated. Factory tyre as the spare, all 4 tyres are PE2's which are almost new.
Exhaust: 182 manifold heat wrapped, decat and a single box stealth which is all s/steel.
All of the above is only about 1k old so its still like new.
Ive prob missed loads out but you get the idea.

The problem is OEM isn't stitched leather so straight away to me they don't look right on a Ph1.
That's the steering wheel, and confirmed it was brand new about 18 months ago.
