ive sold the 1.6 8v i was running last year and replaced it with a 1.6 16v that ive rebuilt in the kitchen haha.
the engine will be running jenvey throttle bodies, bigger injectors(from a clio 172 haha) ultimate fast road cat cam, all new valvetrain, plenty of head work, L&B flywheel and pullys, baffled sump, solid mounts all round and on omex 600 management. so should be fairly tasty compared to last years 108bhp haha
not forgetting the go faster paint ;)

thats is a mental spec! must say next year its flywheel and lsd i think, you can have too much power for fwd sometimes lol, youll be spinning it upto the first corner lol
are you going to spectate before your compete next?

im not sure to be honest i may pop to a shelsley or prescott if im off and the weathers nice :)
even with that spec i dont think ill have as much power as your clio im aiming for 170bhp but with good torque figures. and i already have a quaife diff in my current box, but this year ill be running super sticky avons so fingers crossed traction wont be a problem.

will you be entering any other events around the country or mainly sticking to loton?

  Clio sport cup
Will be worth it when you use it in anger for first time though after recent changes I'm sure

Hopefully not to much anger id hate to bin it on my first run this sunday lol little worried my R1Rs havnt had any miles on them if its wet it will be interesting

This year im just entering at loton as i get the car running ready for having a crack at the midland series next year as i wont the hagley series last year for both class and overall which i was pretty chuffed about :)

thats good going! my 106 was that slow i could drive flat out everywhere, resulting in me winning the consistency award the service hydraulic speed championship haha

haha i never got to watch your car as i was either in the same batch or direct after, car looked the part though

  Renault Clio 172 Cup
it was fairly competative, it won its class at harewood haha.
the fact its so light makes up for the power i think, but it just runs out of steam on the long streights/steep hills which is why ive had to build the new one.
my best time at loton is 66.36 seconds and thats the only event ive done there. i think you were 2 or 3 seconds quicker

  Renault Clio 172 Cup
just checked, your best time was 63.70 on the day we competed together so yeah 3ish seconds quicker

  Clio sport cup
66's are pretty good to be fair, I was happy when I run a 66 for the first time, this year I'm aiming to compete with the 205 and escorts who are doing 60's

haha im not sure ill aim that high, at the moment im just hoping it makes it back from the mappers, its the 1st engine ive ever built or even stripped fully down haha :s
cant wait for race season now!!

awsome mate, what spec you going with?

I'm in two minds whether to start at road going production and stick with standard top mounts, or throw myself in at the deep end and go modified and have solids and all the other nice stuff I could have. Short term I'll go with new cup dampers and cooksport springs, new brakes all round, couple of sparco rev seats as it'll be a track toy too. Your spec is just about perfect, omp Corsica (330 or 350mm?)' 2118s and poly windows. Part of the fun is the build, I only got the car at the weekend and have stripped the interior, sorted out some wiring and water ingress issues and just choosing what to buy. It's currently pretty much standard apart from a B&M short shift and unknown exhaust :)
All the best with yours now it's done

im not brave enough to build an engine, though im sure its alot easier than playing with an engine thats still attached lol

i think its 350mm cant remember though lol yeah ive gone a little mad, ive done alot more than planned one thing led to another, i love how the jms looks and sounds and the kws are mint, if you ever have a spare few £££ get the pms shifter! as for mounts ive only run the car on the hill with the engine and gearbox mounts and it felt alot smoother, well worth doing!

Looks good, I was thinking of doing a squares sticker pattern on mine in anthracite, but with my car it's as the saying goes - you cant polish a turf! Lol
Unless I get big squares and pull them tight on the skin to hide the big dents.

  Clio sport cup
I'm sure they could be pulled tight enough lol mine are far from perfect, wanted to get a design I like then get it done properly. The car will be somewhere parked on Saturday, I won't be there though

  Clio sport cup
Well done a few changes including fitting the Wilwoods which i must say give a much smoother response though dont really get chance to get used to them only doing a mile each run!

After the first event the car appears to be running well just tweaking the setup now as im getting far to much spin up in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear.

Next job is to have a new loom made so i can reduce the amount of redundant wires :)
