Cub's Flamer - Supercharged, Cage etc

  SQ5
After seeing @dmalletts car get very dusty black williams wheels at the ring I would recommend a satin bronze.

Flameshed passed it's MOT today.

An advisory to tell me it has no ABS (thanks for that, I didn't know. Honest) and them struggling with the brake imbalance with the Brembos. Boom.

So, ready when you are @Diesel Davis
Tell them to go f**k themselves regards the brake imbalance mate. There's no such thing in this case as the imbalance will be caused by the diff!!!! They need to do a tapley test on the road to make sure the brakes pull the car up straight.

If you could copy it that would be great. Mines just gone through the MOT under the competition car dispensation (cage, buckets, no airbags etc.) anyway.

Cheers!

Not sure how clear it is, but here you go. I removed the ABS (referenced in the email) and swapped to a cup system. At first the MOT station didn't like the braking, but that is a known cup problem, so I also printed the VOSA test note Issue 31, which highlights the cup brake issue. Armed with these mine has passed it's MOT twice with no problems at "strict" MOT stations.

Hope that helps :)

Long overdue update. The flameshed moved further than 5 miles today, for the first time in ages

Off to @NorthloopCup at TMR HQ for the roll centre kit. Brilliant bit of kit, and the man himself is a little, dwarfish legend. Thanks for your hospitality bud, and all the help. Massively appreciated

On the way home it was great, handles much better. With the extra 5mm on each side, and the 16mm spacers to clear the Brembos, I need to sort stiffer suspension to reduce rubbing.

Plan is AST II's, with 475 lb ft at the front and 450 lb ft at the back. Stiff!! But, the clio is becoming more and more track focused so I don't mind.

Billies have been epic, and are brilliant for a road / track car. They will be up for sale once the AST's are ordered.

Some photos.

Then faffing about with camber, toe, tracking and alignment. Mark loves this car.

The Brembos will do me fine :)

I need stiffer suspension really. So that will help with the rubbing. Llandow told me that.

Worse thing that happens is it goes up a bit at the front.

Lol - quality picture!

For anyone who's not had the joy of going for a drive in this car, I can confirm its a real weapon! It's deceptively quick too. We were into 3 figure in no time at all (30.3mph ) and it just keeps pulling. Great car and a great conversion. Shame the owners a bell end. :kissingheart: Lol!

Even when it was a wheezy non charged bear hauling machine it was lightning quick. After going in both at Llandow I would of said the Flamer was on par/ a tad slower than Tims R26 ! That diff is what made the difference I think.

Can't wait to see what a difference the Supercharger has made.

How good are the new hubs?! It's unbelievable what you can do on roundabouts with them fitted. Need to get back to a track now to test them properly.

Love this car, easily my favourite on here.

Cheers @Christopher. and @NorthloopCup and @nath&alex . It does ok for a 103k miler that has to lug my bulk about . Just glad it's running problem free. Been a while

@Tim. - I'm trying to figure a BBQ date out at the mo. June is looking the most probable month. Trying to orchestrate the disappearance of Mrs Cub is my current challenge on that front.

@debussetti - very kind of you to say. It's no show car, up close it has a few bits of "character", but I specifically don't want a garage queen. It needs to be fun on track. If it looks good too, that's a bonus.

The RC kit is brilliant. Up there with the diff in terms of effect on handling I suspect, but I need to get it on track to really exploit it but it made it much nicer to drive yesterday. Lots more feedback.

  A special one.
When's the next BBQ at Cubbington Manor? The one where you give passenger rides for 50p ;)
Hopefully it will be late June, should have my new car by then.

Will of course take people out in. [emoji41]

Just wondering, what page do you get it supercharged? Wondering how it went, and if you would recommend it if you're looking for more power
