Clio (non 172, 182 , V6) Vs Clio 182

  225 & Audi S4
Always getting the non Rs models try to beat me, even in a 40mph road, WHY?
They go at least 60, and presume i want to play with them , not me, don't want the points or the fine.

i think its a bit unfair targetting non rs owners. i know the other day i had a proper penis in a silver 182 try to race me at traffic lights. of cause i didnt respond, and he came flying past whilst sticking his fingers up..... fortunatly there was a speed camera a bit further down the road which thusly got him ;)

what i'm trying to say is its wrong to race full stop whether your in a 1.2 or a 182, so loose the sport snobbery ;)

Of course, when you get the reps in the GTis, Beemers, basic Mercs, etc - then that's a different situation entirely....

why have a clio 172 182 or v6 if u aint gonna play in it why not just get a 1.2 then the 172 is made to be thrashed not drove like a puff iv got a mk1 172 and a 02 plate wrx runnin about 280bhp and i still love getting in my 172 and ragging the f**k out of it coz thats what it was made for they never stuck a 2.0l in a clio to drive like a tit so u ditch the sport snobbery and give your car some abuse

^ no thanks i'm not into writing off cars. the racing should stay on the track, nothing wrong with having a play just dont get other people involved in my opinion.

i have never wrote a car off or crashed one in the 3 years iv been driving and iv never had a slow car mate

but thats just my opinion mate the clio sports were made to take abuse and thats what i give it if you wanna drive yours like a 1.2 then thats up 2 u but you arnt gettin any fun out of that car if you do

  Chocolate Bar™
i drive mine like a 1.2 because it is a 1.2 ;)

i'm not saying theres anything wrong with 'driving' your car, i just know how annoying it is to be constantly raced (because it kinda looks like a sport). the point i was trying to make is its not just non sport clios that try to race, so dont just pinpoint the non sports as the people being irresposible and racing.

I tend not to race cars such as 1.2s as its a bit gay, unless there chavs revving at the lights.

But i do like to see the middle management peoples faces when i disappear leaving behind their Audi and Beemer company cars

Somedays i purposely drive slow when other people want a race like to say your not worth it as i would win easily lol......Like this DB9 does to me everyday :( lol

  Renault Clio 1.2
Best race I've had was in my 1.2 against a TVR Tuscan. He let me pull away on the dual carriageway, cruised up along side me, smiled and waved, then floored it. Left me thinking about how much I want a faster car.

  TT
i beat a brand new arab beemer M5, at the lights i was off....because he was wheel spinning for literally 5secs!! but then, he whooped my arse...i felt happy i beat him off the lights though. cause i needed to, to get in his lane.

  Focus ST-2
See the people that piss me off is the 1.2clios,vtr's, any car lol with the exhaust's big enough to put your head in them, that try and race you. Then think they are all big and have a smug look on there face because they have got passed you(when your not even racing lol). sorry just make me laugh. nothing against normal non sport clios, same car after all but just hate t***s lol.

Totally agree mate. Some amount of arses on this forum sometimes

^we all have to start somewhere ;) do agree though, but the point i'm making is i hate ANYONE who tries to race me not just people in 'crap' cars.

ive never had a 1.2 with "exhaust big enough to fit my head in" race me. if anything its people with 3-series, C-class's company reps, who are obviously stressed in their jobs, or people with escorts with neons and spinning hubcaps. racing is just a waste of petrol, and dangerous, especially if its just a total random, because you never know what they are going to do, or how far they'd push it

This topic is a little pointless, if you don't race on the road, good for you. Driving defensivly is good, what I'm seeing a lot of these days though, are the people that are just sat doing nothing wrong, until a situation arises, such as another car that is giving it some, going through traffic, and then these "normal" or what I like to call "c**t drivers" try and block the enthusiast getting back into lane, that is what's dangerous and if I see it done to someone, I will always let them know they've been bad.

And if you're a driver that actually goes looking for races on anything other than a good B road or Motorway, then you really should consider what you're doing again, when you're racing another car, your alertness does increase, however you are more concerned with the racing line (B roads) or gaps in traffic (motorways) than what could pull out of driveways etc, which of course can't happen on M and B roads. This is where accidents happen.

I always have people trying to race me, whether it's the discreet stainless exhaust or the gumball3000 laquering, or just my road positioning, I'll always give them a bit where it's appropriate, but I prefer to drive with cars as a team rather than against them.

Anyway, just remember, pricks that cut the overtakers up or block them out all together should have their licences revoked, it's not what is taught in driving school and can certainly cause accidents. Sure if someone's racing, then they are breaking the law by themselves, but do you really want to be a part of something rather than just sitting back and saying to yourself, I'll stay away...

The high light of my trip to and from work is blocking people lol there is nothing funnier than a chimp in rep mobile trying to undertake you at 90mph... lure them in by leaving a gap approx 10 car lengths, when they see that they can push in front of you they cant resist and immeadiatley attempt to undertake (whats the point there is 1 miles worth of bumper to bumper traffic but the chance to get 1 car in front seems overwhelming to some people) once you see them making a move for it push up to the bumper of the car in front! haha its funny watching some of there reactions :rasp:

My god this seems like a playstation game. "it's alright to race on motorways and b roads", "b roads and motorways have no side turnings", Baiting people to do what you want them to do, so you can then "drive up the backend of the car infront" so you can block them.

The lot of you should look and learn at what your behaviours can do. Two wrongs do not make a right.

I have never heard such a bunch of inexperienced drivers, with the idealology of a chimp!!!!

Rep. mobiles are not there to make dangerous and equally illegal moves against.

Perhaps I should be looking on the kindergarten cliosport!!!!

Some people raelyy amase me by their dangerous driving styles. Grow up or be another statistic children. Roads are for driving not dying.

Of course after three years of driving you know better.

well said that man.

i've just started a new job with a 120 round trip commute to work and the number of retarded drivers using the roads is unbelievable.

everyone gets stuck at the same traffic lights!!even if you get one car infront, all that does is move you 2meters closer to the lights!! WELL DONE MATE!

  BMW M4; S1000 RR
Actually, quite often you'll find an overtake will save you from being stopped at the lights.

And blaze, are you telling me you have never treated a road as a race track ?? Or that you've never gone out on a sunday drive ??

If you are then great, we need more drivers like you, but again, as long as the people having "a bit of fun" don't put others at risk, and that others don't try and lock them out, which btw is very dangerous.

For instance, there are many B roads taking me from the motorway to towns near my own, 3 of them are fairly close, 2 of them is blind corner after blind corner, with only 2 risk free overtake straights, however it's the closest and shortest, so at night or midday this is the quickest. Then there are the other two, many many corners that you can see right round, along with fair straights, are you telling me that's not safe to overtake ??

My new laugh is the amount of drivers on the road that think overtaking is a crime. I was on my way to work a few weeks back making long overtake moves (about 6-8 cars at a time) and one time, I pulled infront of a Rover (about 6 car lengths ahead of him) and he started sounding his horn and flashing his lights... wtf... He kept doing it and there was a short 2 lane stretch coming up, I pulled along side him and he "You're driving like a psycho!!". Naturally I told him to "eat s**t, c**t"... But that's beside the point, sometimes I will pull out to overtake on a mile long straight, seeing a car in the far distance, and as soon as I'm out, they're flashing their lights as if to say, "WATCH OUT, I'M DOING 60MPH AND YOU'RE COMING RIGHT FOR ME!!"

The other more worrying thing than the poor judgement that's present on our roads, is that people don't seem to think that maintenence is part of owning a car. It was dry down here for weeks on end, then one day it poors it down, and there are 10 car crashes within a 10mile radius (in the morning). I put that down to poor tyres. Too many people pay for melted hair to be put round their rims these days at £10 a corner, when it's not such a problem in the dry at low speeds, but where that grip isn't available in the wet, it causes accidents.

I like a spirited drive just as much as the next guy, I won't do it at the expense of other's safety, and if someone is having a go when I am in standby mode, I will certainly not shut them out, it's almost as if to say, I'm here, you can stay there and I'll watch you have a collision... It really is disturbing.

Yep, every single one of us 1.2 owners want to race every 182 we see. We all think we have a real chance. What a shite thread.

I'm a t**t. Make some assumptions about my driving.....

or i "race" occasionally therefore i'm a t**t.

who cares, really?

i'd say once you've been driving a few years and experienced enough races you will have a near miss or maybe a crash it might take this to slow some of you down.
i'm not criticising i've had my experiences but having the believe your a better driver than most folk so you can go quicker is wrong whether it's in a 20mph school zone on a motorway. a few years ago i was racing a punto down a b road, came round a 90 degree bend about 85 at which point i saw the tractor about ten meter ahead stopped dead waiting to turn right with oncoming traffic. been a good driver won't help you if your going to fast, theirs only so much a car can do!
yeah their built to go fast but then so are race tracks

  172 cup'd extreme
People who race all the time wil end up in a crash or done for dangerous driving or worse still kill or hurt someone. I see all the local boy racers razzing it round town and more often than not a few months down the line they are in my mates body shop getting their fibreglass patched up

I have found since getting my 182 that no one wants to race! I think a lot of people are clued up on the specs of the car. I only like trying with bigger machines, porsche, beemer 330 upwards etc. Otherwise not worth wasting petrol on. Whats the point in having a go if you know you can take it. Prefer to have to work for the victory! If I get taken, at least its a good reference point to see how good the car really is.

Whats an arab beemer? And i'm sure he wheelspinned for show as the M5 would quite simply roast any clio off the lights....mental machinery.

My god what can i say???? The topic is a little bit of fun and it gets turned into something all serious. I drive my car in the spirit of EVO,if i see an empty road or another car wanting a blast across the road then i'll go for it,no danger in that.

Loosen up a bit my friend,no one was on about becoming another 'statistic'.

well said blaze, i've seen so many crashes around here due to people 'racing' no matter how experienced you are its wrong. Drive your car hard on the track, or on your own but dont egg other people on by racing them.

hey, I wonder what Lunner would have to say about this thread ? :quiet:

I ain't got a pot to piss in if some idiot wants to race me in my 65bhp transformer! Let them. They will win... who cares?

I do about 450 miles a week and it scares me how people drive on the motorway. Everyone drives like they are invincable in their little bubble.

Roll on Meggy 225! only a couple of years now. I can smell the baked beans a burning. :D
