Clio Mk2 Digital Dash Programming with Clip

  Many.
Not sure what this forum is like with talking about this, but see where this goes.

I'll start by saying I don't trust my nearest Renault dealer with my car having seen their work before, and all the others, inc specialists are a fair while away, so I'd clearly like to avoid for the time beiing.

Have access to a non-genuine Renault Clip etc, Need to re-program my dials in my 04 DCi to add cruise control.

Clip says you need to follow the procedure when selecting programing on the dials if I remember correctly, but doesn't tell you what that is.

So I'd like to know what I have to do, as theres no option to just program them via Clip, clearly something has to be done first, I'd like to find out what that is.

Thanks in advance.

You having any luck with this?

ForumClio has a wealth of information with this sort of stuff, only problem it's in French. It's helped me get to the stage where I need to get the ecu reprogrammed for CC everything is in place.

I'm positive I've seen the information you're after but sieving through the pages will be fun!

These are the threads I'm talking about, this translator is better than any other as the text keeps it a structure.

Will have a lookie.

I now have it working, its programmed in the engine ECU, but not the dials, so thus can't see speed, which I find annoying after constantly driving 1*2's with it.

Heres what Clip says when you try to program dials...

And thanks to the man above... Look what I just found. Page 67...

-put just the 1st step of key (the radio lights up), especially PAS contact!
-disconnect the mass of the battery 10 seconds
-reconnect the battery ground
-launch CLIP
-make [ECU testing] as usual
-return on 'Multiplex network'
-DO especially step put the CONTACT as requested
-go on "Housing interconnection"
-Mode configuration
-Configuration dashboard
-Follow the instructions

Will give it a shot ASAP.

i'm in the same boat atm. i've just fitted all the cc parts to my dci and used my own delphi diagnostcs to set the cc to "enabled". just a few minutes ago a had a clip connected but we couldn't get it to work. if only i found this before i could have give it a go!

going to try it asap and will let you know if it has worked out...

Hhhmmm if i read your post correct yours does work?

mine doesn't work AND doesn't give *set ---* in the dash either

Maybe the switch is just bad? Could be simple as that.

i'll try it asap as i really want cc after having driven 60 tkm in 1,5 year

Yeah, Mine works now, It will work once you have enabled it in the engine ECU, But not display on the dials until you program it as per this thread.

I should point out, I found the key to doing it, which I forgot to add to this thread.

What I did was connect clip as normal, ign on, get it to the computer testing part and go through multiplex network stuff, switch ign on, leave key on first position (radio etc on) then disconnect battery, reconnect 10secs later, DO NOT turn ign on, go into... connections unit? (forget name!) and then dials etc, you'll be able to program it then.

Mine didn't program the first time, then tried to switch the seat belt warning off too, after attempting that, cruise control etc showed up, but seat belt warning is still on, not that I'm fussed by that!

Hope this helps :)

Lol, didn't make it any clearer tbh but i'll have a shot at it soon. Although mine doesn't work now but i did enable it in the ecu...

squib installed, steering wheel installed and switch installed.

I'm afraid i'll have to do the wiring trick as no matter what i program it doesn't react to the buttons.

what idiot frenchman does make all the looms standard but doesn't connect them...

Its not that hard to do, I had an old engine bay loom that I got the pins from, its a bit of a pain getting it through the rubber grommit between the scuttle and engine bay, but I wanted it looking right.

I'll dig out the diagrams I was sent if you need them too?

You don't need CLIP to enable cruise features on an X65. If the wiring is in place, the switches are all correct and the UCH is of an N3 specification it will work.

I can't comment on the Engine ECU side of it, as I programmed that before realising the wiring was missing in the engine bay, but you do for the dials.

Have you got the digital segment or analogue type clockset? I'm guessing it's segment.

Something is wrong my end then MicKPM.

I 'hope' all wiring is in place. I had to wire from bulk head to ECU. I have belled wiring from ecu pins to the respective wires inside the cabin, yet nothing happens when I activate cruise and operate the + button.

I also have a N3 UCH. Its a PH3 1.2 16V if that helps. I guess the only other solution is either to get diag or reprogram.

Diag to ensure the switch modes are being seen when cycled would be an ideal start as assumption is always a bad thing.

Mine worked without the dials being programmed, but cruise etc was switched off in the engine ECU, so can't imagine it working on mine anyway.

Plus mine was quite a low spec car, didn't have cruise wiring to start with!

As it stands now, cruise won't work until reprogramming the ECU and digital dash for aesthetics?

Well I hope so, as when I saw the cruise loom in the cabin I though it'd be an easy addition.

just curious mate, where is that loom located? am i right in thinking behind the headlight adjuster?

Yes, mine was wired inside the car but not in the engine bay. So I had to make a loom to add it in, now hoping reprogramming will make it work.

right cos I wudnt mind adding cc to my clio as well didnt know u need engine bay looms too :/ argh

where did you find the other ends of the wires to which you connected the ecu? i have the same as you, wires are present in the car but not on the ecu, however i can't find the other end :S

I had to make a wiring loom and connect from the bulkhead to the ecu.

I bought some connectors and went to a scrappy and grabbed an ecu plug and used connectors from that.

Underneath the N/S scuttle panel, also you'll have to remove the front wiper mechanism. Then a 10mm bolt removes a block to which all your wires will need to be added. 5 wires will need to be added.

B8-B9-B10-B11 ( cruise wires )

G5 ( Clutch sensor )

Can get proper diagrams they're on my PC.

Awesome... I just worked something up and removed my cluster. Then, when re-installing it, my trip computer, oil indicator, automatic headlights were not working. Tried to program Dashboard with clip and the same warning appeared to me, I will try the programming steps mentioned as soon as I get home and grab my Laptop. I love cliosport.net :rasp:

Ok I could enter the panel cobfiguration and actually even the UCH repogramming... It went ok. BUT my trip computer still displays anything... Just "random" numbers.. No odometer, no mileage, no fuel consumption, no oil level at startup... PLEASE HELP my mileage is lost, I miss my trip comuter!!!! My headlights work again btw...

Just looked you have a Dci so I'm guessing the ECU pins will be different.
you got your CC working mate? i used a Renault wiring diagram but it had a fault so it didn't work. found out what the fault was and it works now, this is the exact pinout you need:

D2-B9 channel 1 steering wheel buttons
D3-B8 channel 2 steering wheel buttons
C3-B10 limiter switch
A2-B11 CC switch

  R5 gtt, R27 F1 team
orientation of the steering wheel buttons doesn't matter though as they work in a resistor loop, switch does matter!
