I do love a lamp pod. How do you find the HRX seats? I am waiting for a set for mine. Seemed really comfortable when I sat in one at Autosport.

Hoping to do the prom myself but we'll see!

Yeah it’s not a rally car without a lamp pod ?.
HRX seats are amazing. For the price they are I don’t think you can beat them. You getting them off Bryn? I’m currently fitting his kitchen for him.

Your car will be finished for then won’t it? Nice to have some fwd in the 2.0 instead off all the escorts

I need to get my lamp pod repainted and finish the wiring actually.

I was really impressed with the seats. I must have sat in pretty much every seat at the Autosport show in Jan and the HRX was 95% as comfortable as a custom-fit Motordrive, only it's about a quarter of the price lol. Yeah getting them off Bryn. Just sent him an email about them as could do with them soon really.

It should be finished by then, hopefully put some road miles on it too. Just a bit of a big undertaking for me as its a good five hours away. I suspect your Clio would make my Escort look a bit slow too!

Yeah I spent a morning in demon tweeks trying every seat under the sun. Then went to try the HRX straight after and it was a no brainier. I think they use the same body as one big manufactures. Just different cloth and padding.
I think he said to me he’s getting more stock next week because my brother wants a pair.

Long drive up to go round some roundabouts and some cones haha. Not the best rally but I’ve watched rally’s there since I was a kid and always fancied it.

You best get your kit car built up then ?

They do seem really good. As I am quite tall, it's hard to find seats with the shoulder strap holes in a sensible position, so nice to find an off-the-shelf seat that works.

I know what you mean, it's probably not the best, but I have been servicing for a friend on it for the best part of ten years now and they used to the roads on the Welsh BRC round in the 90s, so it's one to tick off the list for sure. Not sure it's a clever first ever event, but that's how it might pan out.

Don't even mention the kit car. Circumstances mean that might go before it's done :(

Oh noooo, I hope you don’t have to sell it. I’d love any form of f2.

I hope so too, but it would make a big difference to me right now, so we'll see. Know what you mean though, I love that generation of cars. Would love any of them really.

Look forward to seeing yours on the bodies. Will definitely be at the prom one way or another so will try and find you. The yellow Escort might way for something similar to yours eventually,

Yeah the f2 era is by far my favourite.
Yeah it will be good to meet up. I’ve followed you for a while on Twitter. Long before I had a Clio. I only clicked the other month when I seen a picture of your car on my feed.

I’m excited for these bodies. I’ve always wanted them but I should really stop spending now and actually use the car for a bit.

Yeah, mine too. The cars really were something special. You have? I'm touched lol. I don't have many followers. Need to put a bit more time into it really. I'm picking the yellow peril up on Saturday morning. Will be the first proper drive in it since it's been rebuild. The garage have done about 4 miles in it, but I'm driving it about 40 miles home - should be interesting!

Yours should be good with the bodies and the new diff/CWP. Always wanted to drive one in that spec, bet they go well.

That will be a fun drive home. I took mine to work once when the van was in for an mot and everyone wanted to race me ?

Yeah the standard gear ratios are useless for rallying. Hard to stay in the revs. But once your in gear your in it for ever ?

  Audi rs3/Clio 172cup
what cams you running?

When I bought it it said 197 in the add, when I had the belts done the guys said they weren’t standard but the car doesn’t drive like it’s mapped. So I’m not sure. It’s either standard or 197.
What cams would you use with the bodies?

It will provided it doesn't break down ? It used to get looks on the road when it was white, I think it might get a few more now!

My Escort was just the same. You'd get into third and it felt like it had died. It was a pain in the arse, but managed to get a Focus 'box into mine, so I could get MFactory 3rd, 4th and 5th gears. Looking forward to driving it. The guy at the garage said it feels quite good now. What diff are you running?

  dan's cast offs.
197s should work well with bodies but not done any yet. i've got a set of schrick to go on my bodied build but going for serious power with that.

Mines going to be geared to just over 100mph now with this 5.25. I’m using a rsx racing lsd. Wanted a gripper but I’ve got this set up with a lightened flywheel for less than a gripper is on its own

I personally think they’re standard in it. But we’ll see. If some cat cams come up for the right money I’ll buy them. What are the schrick cams? What power you going for?

Think you may struggle with only 100mph top speed Nathan, there are quite a few events needing more than that top speed

Works out at 113mph on this. Not sure how actuate it is because the tyre size is wrong. I’m happy with that though. I’ve never got over 105mph when I’ve been out in mine.

I’m sure it will be fine. WRC cars top out at about 120mph.
Steve Davies runs a 5.25 in his with a gripper. He does run a kangoo box with slightly longer ratios but at Mira there’s a huge straight and he’s not hitting the limiter

Not chasing figures but it's forged high comp bottom end, oversized supertech valves, supertech springs etc, head worked and 48mm pms bodies.

Should comfortably do 230bhp.

Driven mine yet @bloke ?

Put it this way, I'm having a bloody long day today and an even longer weekend!!!!

Not heard of RSX I must say. Is it a helical, or a plate? Mine has a Quaife in it. Would like to go to a plate, but it's a big chunk of money really. Would rather spend it on driving the car.

Gearing doesn't sound too bad. I'm sure @EVOgone ran a 5.25 in his pink Clio and rated it. Think mine will top out about 118, but sadly is heavier and less powerful than your car!

It’s from Spain and it’s helical. They did me a really good deal for the diff, cw&p and flywheel. It all came in under the price for a gripper is on its own.
I’d rather the gripper but for the price I’ve paid for this I thought I’d try it. It’s got warranty and if I don’t like it it’s always going to be worth what I paid.
I only went with them because I know a lad was a c2 r2 maxi that uses there dog gear kit and it’s spot on.

Sounds remarkably similar to what I did lol. I got such a great deal from MFactory that it made sense to go with their gear kit and their stuff seems quite well-regarded in the Honda scene. Sure the diff should work well. Got to be better than the open one. Even on a dry track, my 172 will spin an inside wheel if you're too keen on the throttle.

So these arrived today from maxi racing in Italy ?
A4342A14-1CC3-420E-BC34-16886430376C.jpeg

The fit is perfect.

Need some lamps now and a spare bumper so I can mount them.

More parts arriving this week. Because I’ll be dropping the subframe to fit the new gearbox it would be rude not to fit a 182 manifold whilst I can get at it. So I’m picking one up this week and I’ve ordered the link pipe from pms for my exhaust.

I should also have a alloy polo rad and a pms breather plate this week.

Been looking at some bits from Italy for the twingo. What night events are you thinking of doing? I have found that a light bar is better for tight and twisty stuff but don't have the distance of a pod. I am thinking of a hybrid system of both.

Let me know where you get the lamps from Nathan, might need a couple myself.

I’ve heard there’s some on eBay that are rebranded hella. I’ll have to get the name of them.

I’m doing the prom stages in September and they do 2 stages on Friday night. Then when the north west stages come back in 2019, they’ll have something in the night too.

I used an LED light bar and a pair of gas discharge spot lamps for the isle of man and it was a great setup. LED gives a good flood and the spots gave the distance and headlamps do inbetween.

Entry paid and accepted for The Promenade Stages in Wallasey in September. Really looking forward to it.

Time to get all these bit on the car. Hopefully get the box back off @NorthloopCup next week ?
Then it’s a month to get the car finished and mapped.

But what the hell is this? Why would they cut the loom? It unplugs ?

Time to get the bits sorted.
Tonight got the subframe off. All the captive nuts span ? managed to get one off wedging a spanner in bit I cut the others off. They wouldn’t budge. Even with the bigger makita impact wrench.

The box is getting picked up tomorrow. So it’s box on. Drive it up the road. Then back in the garage to fit the Jenny’s

Also managed to mount a bumper pod whilst I had a bit of time. The lights for them should be here this week. Then the bumpers off the be sprayed either blue or yellow

Lights are from rrs-direct.com. I have been looking at a few of there things.
Nathan if you get chance any possibility of a pic of how much light the bumper pods throw out as been thinking of them for the twingo.

Yeah it will be a few weeks until they’re all up and running but I’ll get some pictures

Found them now. The RRS website is terrible lol.

Yeah website isn’t the best with it being translated. I wish I knew they were that cheap from the start. I would of got a Clio bonnet pod and bought these lights. Instead I’ve got to butcher a sack bonnet pod to fit.

This uses those rrs lights
