Battlefield 4

  UR R26R.5, VW Golf R
I haven't had an issue getting into any games on XBO, either through the server browser or Battlelog. I'm kicked out of them every now and again back to dash but nothing like it was. Played quite a few rounds on Domination hardcore mode earlier and wasn't kicked once.

I'm fucked off with battlefield 4. Save files from yesterday are corrupt and it wiped them! Had to start again. So I thought I'd go online and that was so glitchy today. Ended up back on killzone but that's starting to piss me off well the single player anyway as it just seems to be a mess with no clear direction in which to go. I never get lost or stuck in games but I've given up and I've only just started!!! Bring on need for speed on Friday

Itll probably be the f**king 17th by the time im actually able to play a bloody game. Once agan this evening i cant get into a single game.

Are you in a party with other people while trying? If you are in a party with m8s who are playing a different game then you will struggle to get into a game...stupid fecking party system!

Played a few games of conquest last night, and as people have said before in this thread it's probably the best mode. Just plenty of things to do, used the first carbine last night, the gun is amazing. Bit glitchy once or twice, but nothing worrying

Nudging Level 30 now - I think the below are my main BF4 pros and cons

Pros
  • Vast majority of the maps are well designed and enjoyable, perhaps with the exception of Flood Control.
  • Graphics are good - certainly given the scale of units/buildings on-screen at anyone time.
  • Destructible scenery is really good to watch and utilise.
  • Really like the additional 'bonuses' as working as a squad - one of the key features of the (majority) of the BF series to me.
  • Engineers now are a genuine class to pick and use - not some oddball curiosity.
  • Patches haven't made the game anymore or less unstable. Still can't upgrade my graphics drivers without killing it though! :p
  • ADS on hardcore - makes the game feel more frantic - much better.
  • Commander Mode is a welcome diversion - glad its back.

Cons
  • Auto repair and & unlimited ammo on vehicles. Get f**ked. Go now. Never to be repeated. Just do one. Permanently.
  • Points and ribbons rewarding is out of control. Far too much for doing far too little. Given the time I've put into BF4, I should be about a level 8 or 9 - not knocking on the doors of level 30.
  • Unlocks. Totally excessive. Why do I need four alternatives of grip for my PDW when they all offer the same stats??? Pointless. Similarly, 250+ variations of dog-tag. Really?
  • Splash damage - or total lack of - even on HC. A main battle tanks' HE shell landing 2ft from a standing infantryman should be an instant kill. Or at least removal of 95% health.
  • Paint/camo kits. Again, just f**k off. WhyTF is such s**t even considered for a game like this? One AT dude I shot when he turned to face me, looked like a cross between an alien and a guy in a bright blue welding suit. No b*****d need.
  • Hit boxes and damage modelling by Ray Charles. Single shot KABOOM one minute, several hits the next time round with about 25% damage to the enemy. Zero logic - probably THE worst example of this in all of the BF series, imo.
  • I would still prefer the older style of 7 classes rather than 4 classes of one-man armies.

That'll do for now.... ;)

Nice, I'll be looking out for that.

Darren I agree with pretty much all your points. Patches on patches every time I log on is getting a bit annoying, servers are definatly more stable now. 2x XP has finished so last night I levelled up once and only got 80,000 points in a round instead of the 280,000 i got on Sunday night and levelled up twice.

Gun/vehicle camo is total BS as is game camo, arm patches? Everyone has a penis on it of some shape or form its only funny when its then adorned on the side of the tank they are driving in. Hit markers are still bs as is latency which is starting to rerally piss me off, I unload a clip into someone, they turn and shoot me one shot in the face.....really.

Apart from that enjoying the game more without the bonus xp all the time, however in reality I'll be level 100 my the new year easily.

Think I've managed to sort my connection issues out now..... On another forum there was a couple of posts saying the issue is when you try and install the game whilst connected to the internet so I followed these steps...

uninstall game
disconnect wifi/cable for internet
re install game, once installation gets to 97% it will say battlefield 4 needs an update to finish installing.
select update
reconnect internet

since I've done this I've been able to connect to every game and quickly, might be luck might have worked, but worth a try if your having issues on xbox one

I have to disagree with your comment Darren, regards the Engineer class. IMO it has always been a useful one, but in BF4 it has become the kit of choice for what would apear to be 90% of the players with everyone spamming launchers all over the place. It's to the point where getting in a vehincle is actually useless (especially combined with the pony splash damage). The other 10% are split between Recon and Assault. I'm level 13 now and I'm still yet to see anyone drop any ammo packs other than the big resupply boxes from the commander.

I've certainly not experinced any issues to the level of some people on here though which I guess makes me lucky. The ocasional crash to home screen, a couple of lag issues, and sometimes not managing to join games even though it says there are spaces. Definately not enough of an issue to put me off playing it.

I'm not too sure on that though. Who really picked the engineer or anti-tank role in the original BF1942 or BF2? We know that those classes have always been useful - in fact the engineer class was my de-facto choice on BF2142. But the vast majority of players tend to go for the assault and support classes - until like you say, BF4 arrived. I've never played a game within the BF series where there are so many engineers! A hint at how powerful an overall class they maybe?

To this day, I still think BF2 had the class choice nailed - recon, assault, engineer, support, special forces, medic, sniper and anti-tank. Personally I would have added another one - AA or SAM class. Make some players true anti-air specialists.

There is still a long way to go with BF4 balance. With some tweaks the game will work out, but it does seem that there is an obscene amount of engineers rocking about.

But so many issues can be sorted by giving us some really good maps to play in. Some of the base maps are pretty.......awful. Yes Lancang Dam I am looking at you. Zavod and Paracel Storm giving me the best varied games.

I really hope DICE concentrate on ironing out these bugs and giving us a good balanced (as much as possible) gaming experience. I really want to buy into Premium but until they give me a proper incentive I am going to hold out.

A couple of days ago I got BF4 streaming well onto Twitch. Going to give it a couple of hours tonight and see what happens.

Still not experiencing (Touch wood) and online/multiplayer issues with this game.

On the which class is most used question? I find, on PS4 anyway, that support class is the overwhelming favourite. I always go engineer and my primary aim is to take out the opposing team's air support. Tend to rack up a few points doing this and just capturing the bases on conquest.

Thats where I fail....I've only played the last three games, bf4, bf3 and bfbc2 so not had the experience of the other earlier games :(

I always play as Assault with some sort of Sprint advantage.

Anything else is Engineer as anti - air. Hardly anyone seems to concentrate on blowing those pesky birds out the air. SO satisfying. Lock on - hold - wait for flares to deploy - Fire. Easssy points.

Not sure what servers you play on but sometimes trying to keep a little bird in the air for longer than 30 seconds is a monumental achievement ;). With railgun AA and every farmer and their mothers packing a SAM of some sort its hard to do anything. Although if you have 2 mates on perma repair you can survive just about! Without this ability the normal attack chopper does not seem to last that long.

Haha this is talking BF3 days.

Havent made a foray into engineering on BF4. The starting weapon is s**t.

^^ Haha.

It is a waff starting weapon but the Carbines are much better.

To be a pilot in BF4 is to curse everything that has an AA capability (which is pretty much anything). Also learning to swear at your ECM as missiles still pinging you while it is active and the stupid critical damage mechanic. Sup rotors going offline after 1 hit!

Can you only get Carbines in the Engineering class?

Could persuade me to make the switch

Yes, I always use engineer, with either a carbine or the sniper rifle LIKe gun, can't remember what they're called.

Carbine and SRAW are my preferred combo.

is Engineer the way to go ? not tried it yet

As the majority of the maps are littered with vehicles, you can rack up a healthy amount of points, yes. Quite an easy unlock path for the weapons and side-arms, too, including the Stinger which can be used very effectively to take out the air forces. The first rocket will probably be misguided due to the vehicle firing it's flares, but the reload time is almost instant whereas the flare repack takes around 20 seconds. 2 hits from the Stinger will take out the vehicle.

On the ground, mines and M2 Slam's can easily take out a tank or infantry, and the first carbine rifle (AK5C) is arguably one of the best levelled guns in the game once you unlock a scope/RDS.

Once you unlock the Anti-Tank field upgrade, you can carry more rockets/mines too. A walking terrorist.

Yeh but is it just me, but when you unlock 6 mines, you can only place three down? If you have three down, and put another it removes the first one you put down, so you can only ever put down three?

Yeah that's a very good point, because I don't know what's going on with that.

I have definitely been able to put 6 mines down at a time, or 3 in one location then 3 in another and they have remained. Yet sometimes it only lets me place 3 and that's my lot. Never understood that.

Is it like the BF3, where the 4th one would replace the 1st one LOL?

Hmm thats what tempts me to go Support. I like to help the team out. Engineer seems like a selfish task.

Annoyed I cant rack up mega points reviving people anymore. 20 points? WTF?

Engineer is selfish in that they are in it for points, but at the same time when they're the only ones that can take those c*nting choppers and jets out, I'm all for it.

LOL! No wonder my K/D is absolute f*cking rats. Just running around with my Stinger looking up.

Did unlock the M416 with Assault the other night though. Now that's a good weapon. Also, this:

MP7

AK5C
