Adam's Ph1 Clio Project

Hey guys, pretty new to the forum. Only 17, first car I bought was a Renault Clio Mk2 Ph1 1.9D 2000. Below is what it looks like at the moment. Only have one picture of it at the moment because haven't had much time.

I want to modify it, being the typical 17 year old boy I am lol.

Future Mods:

Wind Deflectors
Lowered
Tinted Windows
CD Player
Alloys
Exhaust
Dual Optic Headlights
Possibly Ph2 rear lights and bumper.

Can anybody suggest other cheap mods and also suggest a cheap exhaust back box for my car? I don't want a full system because I don't need power, just want sound. Something with a deep sound, I know it won't be perfect because it's a diesel, but something with a good sound and look will do. Thanks for looking and look forward to your suggestions and help in making my clio look good!

My first car (my current car) is an 03 1.5L DCI Clio, lovely to drive, you can get some nice Heko wind deflectors off ebay.

Good Luck!

What i done with my Clio when i brought it being very similar was buy ph2 lights easy and cheap todo, Ph2 colour coded spoiler which is easy to fit and chrome interior door handles, now want to find a shorter areal if possible to make it look less like a remote control car, also colour coded wing mirror covers are nice maybe able to get of ebay got mine painte

Idea worth considering may be original clio alloys due to being cheaper and better for insurance, possible front fogs, clear indicators and the chrome bulbs in front and rear, cd player hooked up to steering wheel controls is a must and usb in the cd player is well worth it!

Great base and look foward to seeing the mods

So just a little update guys, got my exhaust done. Just a little tip welded on and the backbox taken out. Picture below.

I quite like it, very happy with the job done and a very nice sound of it!

Was thinking original clio alloys, but I want to be different at the same time and going for something really different! Front fogs and clear indicators will be a definite when money alloys! How do I go about hooking the cd player up to steering wheel? Got a cd player in mind and it has bluetooth, aux and usb! :)

Will get a picture under the car tomorrow! Thanks very much! Will take a look into wiring it up to the CD player!

That actually looks pretty decent mate!
For the cd player/stalk control thing, you need a Conencts2 lead and the appropriate 'patch' lead, they're specific to the radio brand, i.e. Kenwood, JVC, etc. and arent available for all.

Looks good. You coming along to the meet if we ever manage to sort it ?

I will depending on location dude :)

Little update: Wind deflectors arrived but they are a Christmas present so can't put them on yet and my stereo is being ordered tomorrow if all goes well. I am also going to take a crack at colour coding the car when possible!

Got some anti-freeze into my car yesterday, seen that a hose was slightly loose that must have been causing a small leakage but it has been tightened up now and anti-freeze added! Bit late but better late than never.
Should be ordering a CD player between Thursday and Monday depending on money and looking into some lowering springs or coilovers, depending on my budget!

Update:

My ph1 clio was done, head gasket blew, was gonna cost too much to replace and then god knows what else to happen to it, so I went out and bought a 2004 1.2 Clio. Loads of gadgets in it and I absolutely love it! Finding it hard to drive a petrol compared to the diesel. Any tips on how to make it easier for myself?

Car already came with cup spoiler? I think. CD Player, alloys. I won't be keeping the alloys but if anybody can name what they are it would be a massive help, thinking some standard clio alloys or something deep dish maybe! Few pictures below!

Spotlight needs pushed out and bumper needs sprayed but that's about it.
99k, MOT and TAX, good going car, drives lovely and a I said loads of features! Any ideas for alloys as these ones will be changed?

If a mod could also change the name of the thread to "Adam's Clio Project" that would be great!

Small update:

Got into the car the other day, heaters working fine then just suddenly stopped, since I only recently bought the car, I gave the dealer a ring and he was more than happy to sort it for me! Leaving it down tomorrow to get sorted!

Okay, so been almost a month since I updated this thread. First, got the heaters sorted within a couple of days free of charge. I then got the car lowered, pictures to follow soon.

I then went to a breakers yeard today and seen a 182 in there. The whole back end of it is in mint condition with a cup spoiler but they won't sell the spoiler separately from the tailgate so have to take the lot but getting it for a bargain! Pictures to follow soon of that once bought and fitted.

They are also looking 200 quid for full interior? Good price or not?

Kurbed one of my alloys pretty badly. Was pretty annoyed with myself but hey, happens to the best of us! Want to change them anyway! Pictures of all will follow!

200 for a full interior is a bit pricey i'd say. You could buy one from a member here and have it shipped over for less, i've seen them go for 120-150 here mate.
remember 182 rear bumper has the dual cut outs. Shame they won't sell the cup spoiler separate to the tailgate, it's only 6 screws! how much are they wanting for it?

Yeah thought it was a bit pricey but wasn't too sure. Need to get membership on here haha. They are only looking 50 for it which I thought wasn't half bad. Got them down from 75 and it's mint. Plus I can sell the boot and my current spoiler cause I won't need them. Yeah wasn't really looking at the 182 bumper because of the dual cut outs. Can't really afford the exhausts.

UPDATE: CUP SPOILER HAS BEEN FITTED.

Took about 15 minutes and I'm not amazing with cars so was an achievement for me haha. Few screws and clip it in, connect up brake light and washer and that was it. Worked perfectly. Below is a before and after. So happy, such a subtle change but makes it a big different. Does need sprayed because it's a different silver but will get that done in time. Got it for 50 but it came with tailgate so if anyone around Northern Ireland needs one let me know haha.

Yeah man I paid 120 for mine here, then another 80 to get it painted!

Your car is looking nice dude, I'm so looming forward to replacing mine soon though :)

Definitely got a bargain then so I did, yeah i'd love a 1*2 but you know yourself what insurance is like here haha. I'm gonna get few more parts, colour coded etc!

Small update:

So I have came to the conclusion after quite a bit of research and thinking, that I am going to do nothing further to the car except for general care and maintenance and save up for a 1*2. Insurance seems to be okay on one when I turn 19.. So going to get one next year.

Also have a bootlid for sale that came off a titanium silver 182.. Doesn't include spoiler.. PM me for details, ideally don't want to post but if you arrange courier I can be talked to...

Selling my cup spoiler.. trying to save for a sport so getting rid of anything that could make me some money.. PM me! In titanium silver MV647 I believe? In good condition, came off a 182, brake light and washer work perfect.
