Right need some advice, have made a 450 mile trip to the North of Scotland to then get two mile away from our lodge and hit concrete in the road which hit the sump and to empty oil everywhere !

Bill ?

Possible damage ?

Ouch!

Did you switch the engine off as soon as possible?

No idea on the costs, but I think it'll depend on the damage done (if any) to the engine internals.

Well travelled about 0.1 of a mile to the nearest pub car park and then turned off, was still pissing oil when i stopped.

Just looked up and fred said its £180 for sump.

Maybe its only knocked the sump plug off rather than cracked it, as it was pissing with oil in one place, which is where the sump plug is.

Prepared for that to be honest. Hope the garage is competent to be able to do it within a week so i can get home. Ringing first thing in the morning.

Didn't happen on the A9 did it? My boss hit a huge slab of concrete on that road and completely buckled an alloy!

why wouldnt a garage be competent to change a sump, just because its scotland doesnt mean we only know how to repair horse and kart lol

anyway, sump and probably an hours labour, not to expensive assuming theirs no engine damage

It's not a difficult job mate, you could actually do it yourself.

Drop the old one off new one on (with instructions from a mechanic)

Oil in and away you go!

Mate, had a bad luck this year, some one crashes into my car and drives off, i spill a cup of tea on the keyboard of my 4 month old mac book pro and now this, lol

can it not be welded?

Can't look under until on the ramp, so the garage on monday will let me know i suppose. Rather a new'un if its bad.

i have a spare one in the garage. if the garage crnt get a hold of one i could sell you it and get next day delivery on it.

depending on how much oil you lost the big ends could've had it, but it sounds like you caught it soon enough.

Defo new sump i'd say. Welding cast ally is a bit pikey eh?

Going in tomorrow, so will see what they say then, hopefully new sump and thats it. Nah i doubt any engine damaged was caused. Was leaking slowly out, plus turned it off soon enough.

Need specialist tools to drop the subframe apparently, and the garage were unable to do it.

Rang Renault in Inverness where they recommended, and they quoted 3 and half hours at £65 for labour and then parts and vat on top, hmmm.

Gutted is an understatement.
