182 idling problem

  Clio 182
Hi all, had my throttle body off today to give it a good clean out., however since putting it back on I've got my engine management light on and it idles between 1300-2800!! Makes me look like a right nob when stopping at lights/junctions.

Not sure what the prob is, seems like an air leak but where the f##k from, I've checked and double checked everything that I've touched today (4 bolts for tb, electrical connector for tb and removed the air inlet hose for access to tb)

Gonna have to take it to a specialist and get them to plug it in if I can't source the prob.
Hopefully somebody can shed some light on this for me.

Thanks guys

Are you sure the rubber o ring on the back of the tb is seated correctly? Did you do anything else?

Yeah I've whipped it off since to double check it and it's spot on. No nothing mate, that's what's puzzling me. Never have any luck with the dam thing.

Sorted it now as I couldn't rest and it was doing my head in.
Read on another post that it can forget the throttle position and there is a sequence to reset it. Did it, took it for a drive, all sorted. Engine management light still on but wondering if that's to do with the decat fitted last week.
Either way I'm a happy chap now

Some lad had the same prob and posted a seq on another forum.

Disconect the battery for 10 mins to reset Ecu.
Once reconnected, turn the ignition on for aprox 5 seconds.
Turn the ignition off for aprox 8 seconds.
Turn the ignition back on, start the car and road test so Ecu can remember throttle position.

Like I say, worked a treat for me, hopefully helps others now too.

Good lad for posting up the solution! Many don't when they find out!

Well I know how frustrating it was mate and also how costly it prob would have been for a garage to fix so not a problem pal
