    197 Headlamp removal

Need to put LED's and uprated mains bulbs in the new 197 steed, how simple to remove? I hope it's not a front end off job like my old 172???? Pleeasseee noooo:S

    197 Recaro's

Are the covers easy to change or do you need to have had a fifty year apprenticeship at Bentley Motors to sort them?

    197 Recaro's

That was my thinking Bobby to be honest. It's annoying as the rest of the seat and the passenger seat are mint. :S

    197 Recaro's

I went along really thinking that I'd hate the Recaros, and guessing on a day to day basis that I wouldn't be able to live with them. Car is a non-Cup so a bit more give on the bouncy stuff and they really pinned me in the car. But in fairness they were really comfortable and no issue. It's...

    197 Recaro's

Went to have a poke around some 197's yesterday with intent to buy. The car that caught my eye ( and heart ) has the optional Recaros fitted which I was adamant I couldn't live with on a daily basis, but how wrong can you be!! Anyway, to cut to the chase the right hand side bolster ( the...

    182 bumper and exhaust on a 172?

http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?635775-What-have-you-done-to-your-car-today/page92 Nicely made, lovely deep sound, and in my eyes, finishes the rear end off. You will need a more substantial rear exhaust mount though as the usual one is pants. Bit pricey perhaps, but if your...

    Pulley / Roller

The complete (??) job was done on 25th Jan this year. Dropped car off this morning ( 1/4 mile away) and he is going to sort out without cost ( it was my way / non-negotiable) but he is adamant that the roller was changed and that it must have failed. Either way its going to be done. Fingers...

    Pulley / Roller

Mick I don't doubt you may be right. But it will be having one next week I can assure you of that. I did think that you know, its had a new tensioner for deffinate, as different colour and the belt has been changed. But I guess with a new belt and tensioner, any weakness in the old roller may...

    Pulley / Roller

Thats what I thought Fred. Would you advise a new aux belt seeing as the tension will be taken off and then re-applied??

    Pulley / Roller

i know I know, not the correct way but I was blissfully ignorant this time last year!! Cambelt done last year in June. Aux belt and tensioner and pulley done this January.

    Pulley / Roller

The annoying thing is I have literally just had the tensioner / idler and belt done in January. I'm assuming from your comments that this roller should have been changed at the time?????

    Pulley / Roller

On the very bottom front of the air con pump (on a 172 Phase Two) there is a small roller / pulley which the auxiliary belt runs along the back of. Well its making a god awful screeching and it looks like the inner circular cover plate has come off which I guess will expose the innards. Can...

What have you done to your car today ???

True, good point, but as I already have this and there's plenty of life left in it, I'm happy.

What have you done to your car today ???

Today I have mostly been fitting K-Tec's 182 look exhaust to my 172. Cracking bit of kit, very very well made and easy to fit. Main ba*ll aches were getting the cat to the centre section bolts undone whilst trying to work off axle stands with limited height, arms are knackered! And off course...

    Change ignition leads

Worthwhile cleaning the throttle body out to, seeing as you will be staring right into it.

    Miss Fire - Deep Joy!!

Well started with the cheapest option first and fitted a new set of Renault HT leads this afternoon and it's sorted it, also cleaned the throttle body out too as it would have been rude not too, that was coated in a nice layer of black sh**e. I now have a perfectly running 172 again. All good...

    Miss Fire - Deep Joy!!

Strange missfire at very low revs, when pulling from junctions, parking e.t.c. but really anything where less than 2000 rpm is needed. It also happens if you are coasting in a high gear, and then put your foot down, splutters and then goes?? Car has done 92k and car has not had in my...

    Loud clunk -always good!

The U shaped metal and rubber spacer that sits between the mount and the engine. No wonder it was moving, but glad I replaced as it's all tight as a drum again now.

    Loud clunk -always good!

Well sorted now. Had the auxillary belt and tensioners done week after Christmas and funnily enough the noise has been since then. New parts arrived, Powerflex Dogbone bushes fitted and so onto this Anyone see whats missing?? Original one too going by the date. A conversation has been had...

    Loud clunk -always good!

Brilliant, collected the Powerflex dogbone bushes from Demon Tweeks on Friday and been back today to swop it for the correct bushes!! They are crap over there they really are. Also waiting for the upper drivers side mount and the gearbox mount. Once fitted I'll report back..............

    Loud clunk -always good!

Great cheers for that. I am assuming that the dogbone has to have the large 'metal fillet' removed that goes around the larger hole, otherwise they wont go in?

How much have you sunk into your Clio?

Re: how much have u sunk into ure clio Just totted up receipts and...£3050. That doesn't include the 2.1k to buy the car or any performance / mods apart from some 182 Cup alloys. But I bought wrong, as I wanted one and new naff all about them everything needed doing, belts, de-phaser, cambelt...

    Loud clunk -always good!

Just ordered new drivers side top mount and the gearbox mount under the battery. Also bought Powerflex bush kit for the Dogbone. Hopefully should be a combination of those as I cannot see anything else obvious. Hell of a clunk though and theres a deffinite drone as the revs rise as if...
