    Water temperature gauge

Finally changed thermostat only to find no thermostat actually fitted to the car, now I have car running better as it is now getting up to normal temperature. Should have expected as such knowing the previous owner! Car seems to be running about 6-7mpg better off at lower speeds as well. So all good

    Water temperature gauge

Yeah it moves slowly can do 10 miles and virtually no moment eventually creeps up after sitting in traffic but only to around half way, sounds like a new stat on the cards then, thanks for the info will try after I've had a quick look at instructions cheers, love this forum

    Water temperature gauge

My water temperature gauge hardly ever shows normal temperature usually it shows around a third then occasionally almost up to normal then drops. The mpg also doesn't seem to show much more than 31-34 mpg It's a 172 phase 2 it had been off the road for a while, it's had new spark plugs...

    Loose blanked off pipe 172

I have this pipe on the pulley side of my engine it is blanked off but clearly looks like it should be attached to the engine round the back. ClioSport 172 ph2 1 What is it for and where should it be connected 2 Why would it be blanked off and left to one side! Confused

    Misfire

My 172 had a really bad misfire all through the range when I bought it off the previous owner, who thought it was serious so sold it cheap, changed HT leads and the put in new NGK plugs misfire sorted, just fixing all the other problems, but should start there first. Good luck hope it turns out...

    Camber Bolts KTR Coilover suspension

Just tried fitting front K-Tec Racing coilovers to my 172 and have just realised that the two upper bolts at the bottom of the shock have a strengthening flange that doesn't allow the standard nut and bolt to fit flush. I have contacted K-Tec to find out what I need, they replied I need the...

    172 Shock stuck

Thats sounds a good idea as I can't move the car. did try and split the nut in half, but looks like that is going to take some time but the other side I will look at getting the machine mart impact gun. Cheers guy

    172 Shock stuck

I'm thinking maybe a nut splitter might do the trick as I'm sure the shocks are fine and would rather not damage them and keep them as spare

    172 Shock stuck

Yeah it is off the floor now as I had to remove wheels and to get new tyres, will have problem using impact driver as i haven't got one or accces to one and cant move the car, even when I get the wheel the front spring broken and will slice the wheel as it already had done! 172 Shock stuck

Spent ages trying to remove the top mount nuts on my shock absorbers on my 172, nicely seized on, so have been hammering my spanner, using wd40 and oil to try and get the top nut off my shocks, now I have a broken hex in the top as well, am I better off using an angle grinder or drilling the top...

172 PH2 Head removal help - water in cylinders 2/3

Thanks for the replies, OK being new to these cliosports pocket rockets I've heard of a dephaser, but not sure what that is so will look it up! Looking at gaskets for the inlet as mine seems to have been sealed with sealant, anyone have any idea how much from renault as the ones on ktech site...

172 PH2 Head removal help - water in cylinders 2/3

Went to put new spark plugs in my project 172 and found water on the plugs for the two central cylinders, I did a degrease of the engine at the weekend using loads of water (as it also had loads of oil down the cam belt side of the engine), but when pulling off the leads they were dry and clean...

    Which engine mount is best?

Good thread guys, just what I was after, as my 172 has dodgy o/s engine mount (n/s looks brand new) and have decide to go for oem topmounts and powerflex dogbone as other threads have said, as I wasn't sure whether to get ktech mount, but seems overkill now.

:dead::(Hi all Been the owner of this 172 just over a year, bought it broken with no MOT off a friend who has a habit of killing cars, always wanted a fast renault now I have one, although off the road (my love started with the R5 Gordini).
