    group N cam timing

This is awesome, thanks for sharing. I've always thought the group N timing sounds like a good idea, so good to see the curve. After the "added air leak" and calibration tweaks how is the idle? Is it still noticeably worse than standard?

    Advice needed sm inlet remap

I reckon the timing is fine on Chambers_RS’s car because can see from his other thread that it’s making 160 ftlb which is good ... that’s the group n timing working.

    Advice needed sm inlet remap

One thing that would be really interesting to compare between the engines that make really good power and ones that don't is the air filter setup and more importantly, the intake pipe between the air filter and the SM inlet. The dimensions of this intake pipe can really influence the performance...

    Advice needed sm inlet remap

^^^ LOL! Yeah sure, if you look at the pic below, the bit I circled in red is only 2" diameter pipe. I know because I just bought one and it's currently on the work bench in my garage and I measured it. But like Bloke says, it'll not be worth a massive amount.

    Advice needed sm inlet remap

The other thing you could check that might be hurting the top end power is if the SM inlet isn’t very well aligned with the head and there is a step between the inlet manifold and head ports. And check that the air filter is nice and clean if you’ve not already checked.

    Advice needed sm inlet remap

I understand, so if it’s losing air flow above 6,500 rpm, particularly with vvt advanced, high exhaust back pressure could cause this. I know that the RS192 (if it’s post 2014) has a 6” odd length of pipe upstream of the centre silencer that is only 2” diameter, so it’s possible that the exhaust...

    Advice needed sm inlet remap

Or do you mean it made more power with vvt retarded after 6,500 rpm, and also by lean it out, do you just mean that the injector pulse width had to be reduced to keep AFR optimised? Do you have an AFR graph?

    Advice needed sm inlet remap

That looks like a nice torque curve to me! Why has he had to pull back the vvt and lean it out after 6,500 rpm, what happens if leave the vvt advanced and keep the AFR optimised?

    Mk2 Dci Expression 5 door

I’m not aware of a thread where the sport suspension conversion is discussed. It’s really easy though. On the back, you just unbolt the dampers, I think I then had to lever the trailing arm down with a breaker bar to get the old spring out, then reassemble with the 182 cup parts. On the front...

    Mk2 Dci Expression 5 door

Welcome! Which dCi have you bought? As well as a Clio trophy, we also have a clio dCi 80 dynamiqe + which we have had for 10 years, great car! It’s pretty easy (and cheap) to fit 172 or 182 suspension on the dCi, if you’re that way inclined!

2.25 inch exhaust tip on 2.5 inch System?

^^+1 The 182 standard system is 2.25” anyway isnt it? It feels about the right size for this power level imo.

    Jumped Battery Backwards

Why did you try and jump it in the first place? When you tried to start the car before you put the leads on the wrong way round, did the solenoid click then?

Rolling Road Tuning in Bristol Area?

I've also been to Paul at circuit motors, and he's a great guy. ive not been there since it is sabre tuning so don't know if it's changed at all but would thoroughly recommend Paul from my previous experiences there.

Cam timing and the group buy on timing tools

I'm thinking early next year might be a good time for me to have belts done and do something with either 197 cams or group n timing. @bloke and @NorthloopCup, do you guys do this sort of thing for your main job, or is it something you do on the side, and would either of you be prepared to do the...

Cam timing and the group buy on timing tools

This all sounds very interesting, many thanks for the replies. From the sounds of things, I'd be keen to try either of these options (gp n timing or 197 cams), both seem to give decent and worthwhile results. For the sake of £100, I'm definitely keen to join the group buy for gp n tools if it...

Cam timing and the group buy on timing tools

Ok cheers, yeah it's a valid point. 197 cams could be a tempting option too, would be good to hear from someone who has experience of both to better understand how they compare. I suppose 197 cams is proven though; the results you previously posted did look good!

Cam timing and the group buy on timing tools

2 years time, I think. They were done 3 years ago. Are you thinking 197 cams at the same time as getting the belts done might be a better option for me? I saw on some of your other threads that you've had quite good results with this. have you tried group n timing on standard 182 cams for a...

Cam timing and the group buy on timing tools

Fair enough, I can understand people who do this for a job wanting to protect the knowledge that they've spent time and money building up. So to ask the question a different way, rather than doing the group buy, is there anyone who works in the business who can re-time the standard cams on a 182...

Cam timing and the group buy on timing tools

Hi all, I've recently renewed my membership of CS, after a few years away from owning a Renault and having just bought a 182 Trophy. I noticed the group buy on cam timing tools (which hasn't gone anywhere yet) and I'd possibly be interested in joining the group buy for the group N timing tool...
