Re: The Big Manchester Meet...
Its been a long time since I've been to one mate! Nearly snuck down to the meet the other week, but ended up going out for a meal instead. Just been busy with work and suchlike recently. Can't really make any promises with this one either, but it would be good to...
Re: The Big Manchester Meet...
If it's a quiet Sunday at work I'll try and meet up with you guys later on. Should finish sometime between 3 and 5 at a guess.
I bought the non-HSM version for around £200-250 second-hand and it's alright, can't match my two Canon lenses in terms of contrast and resolving fine detail, but I do love the focal range. It's quick to focus as well, even without the HSM. I think I'll be selling it soon as I prefer primes, but...
Good job my car is SORNd otherwise I'd consider being offended. :p If I wasn't looking for a reliable comfy cruiser I'd be half tempted to go for a valver.
Nice pics Jord, a lot of progress with quite a few of those cars by the look of it!
Suppose I might as well stick a few in.. I've backed up most of my 2009 and early 2010 photos to an external HD, but I've got a few left mainly from January to April this year I think. I can boot up the HD if you want any others though.
Original files are available...
Do you not think it would be good to have all the photos taken by the same person - would be good for consistency and look more professional? I'm thinking Shadowness as this is what he does after all. :)
I know you're probably trying to promote community spirit, but we do have the calendar etc...
Hey Rich, depends how much you're planning on using it and what you'll be using it for tbh!
As a general rule the kit lenses (like the 18-55mm) can always be bettered, but it's a handy focal length to have and if you're not planning on wasting away future pay packets on new equipment then it'll...
Lol, aiming for that combo myself at some point. :) You can get a Sigma for about £2-300 and there's a few other versions in-between that and the Nikon too. Primes are a lot cheaper if you don't mind using them, 35mm f/1.8, 50mm f/1.4, 85mm f/1.8 etc.
Honestly, just charge enough to cover your costs - as soon as you start making money from it you become obligated to carry out work to an acceptable standard and if anything goes wrong on the day you won't have the insurance to cover yourself. Much better to do it as a friend and treat it as a...
At least yours doesn't take three goes to start the damn thing Arran lol.
Turn the key - immobiliser says no.
Turn key again - vrooo... - immobiliser says no.
Turn key again - cough splutter vroo-splutter-oom. *Cloud of smoke*
Hence I haven't bothered to tax it, so I'll give this one a miss...
I'd rather have the 1.2 or 1.4, the 1.0 is meant to be really soft and really is just a collectors item! I suppose it has it's uses, but 1/3rd of a stop over the 1.2 doesn't swing it for me. :)
Don't suppose the guys name was Mike was it? Met a guy at a Birds of Prey centre in Knutsford and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if it was him lol, exact same combo.
Nah I hate clubbing mate, not my scene at all! Was there with family so just lazed around for the week. :p Saw you putting these up on Flickr and figured my little thread won't be getting too many views now haha.
I'd definitely consider moving out there bud, coming back to England isn't...
Ha no worries mate, just wondered how you'd done it. I'll let you off as you're tech savvy. :p
Yeah I'm really torn tbh. Buy the 24-70mm when I already have one, buy the 35mm when it aint meant to be that good (the non-L) or buy the 85mm or 135mm when I already have the focal lengths covered...
Lol damnit Andy on two counts!
1. You're not supposed to be able to copy the images from the blog - you been looking at the source code?
2. You're not supposed to pick that one out.. it's one of the photos I've edited, most of the others are straight from camera.
Hell yeah, tons of...
Ha yeah, how cool is that! :) Could have spent all summer in Chania tbh, such an awesome place - something interesting happening around every corner and seriously laid back. Shame to only be there for an hour or two really. Plus there's a shop by the harbour which makes amazing crêpes with...
Cheers Andy. :) Erm, probably not as many as you might think. Of the ones on the blog I'd say it's half and half between the Sigma 24-70mm and the 50mm. One or two with the 70-200mm. Thinking of swapping the Sigma though, it's not quite right for me.
Hey guys,
as some of you may know if you read the previous entry on the blog, I've just got back from a week in Crete. It was the first foreign holiday for me in over three years and an extremely welcome one at that!
We stayed in the Phaedra Beach Hotel on the outskirts of Malia. First...
Just had a quick flick through that set Boom, some cracking shots in there. :) Brave for converting them all to black and white, but it pulls the set together really well. Number of times I've done that and reverted back to colour at the last minute!
Aye full frame on a budget. I'm the third owner of it and it saved me about £1000 on the price of a 5DmkII. :) On the surface it's very similar to the 450d but there's just something about the 5D which is a bit special. Great combination having a crop and full frame though. In fact the Oulton...
