Crunching going into 2nd (second) gear

Oi thats not fair lol, you know what I mean. Im just saying that it doesnt resist going in without the clutch as it would with any of the other gears, at any revs. It crunches what ever I do, any revs or speed of change.

Crunching going into 2nd (second) gear

I have now also noticed that I can put it into 2nd without the clutch. This produced the same amount of crunching noise as if I do use the clutch. Could this still be the synchro ring or maybe a clutch problem?

Apologies for my honesty, I have taken on board the positive comments with thanks.

Crunching going into 2nd (second) gear

And yeah, I can not even afford the £8.99 Haynes Manual from eBay  I need to save up money to fix my extremely mangled Clio (quoted at £9500 for repairs at a garage or about £1500 for parts DIY) and the synco ring on my Megane.

Crunching going into 2nd (second) gear

This sounds promising compared to my fear of having to get a new gearbox. The gears used to crunch a little when rushing the gearbox but now it does it all the time at any speed or manner of use. I must admit I do rush the gearbox a lot, I've become addicted to 2nd gear wheelspins. I will most...

Crunching going into 2nd (second) gear

I don't have enough money even for a Haynes manual right now so I'm just going to have to put up with driving everywhere without using 2nd gear lol. Could I have mashed the gear cogs? My biggest fear is that I will need a new gearbox :S

Crunching going into 2nd (second) gear

I one for saving money where possible because labour is over priced so is this something I could do myself? Could it be any other than the syncr?

Crunching going into 2nd (second) gear

This is worrying. When going from any gear into 2nd, it crunches as I put the gear stick down into 2nd. This crunching can be long or short depending on how quickly I push the gear stick into gear. I'm wondering if it could be an alignment thing. Maybe the alignment for 2nd gear is out of sync...

Body frame part behind front wheels

When you say, reshell it, do you mean the core shell or an entire car without an engine that I can transplant mine into? I can easily find a basic shell without body work etc but that would mean transferring all bodywork and interior over. It only cost me £5.5k in the first place, do you...

Body frame part behind front wheels

Yeah that's it. Good stuff, at least now I have a name for the damn thing, thanks :) All I got to do now is replace it. I suppose I would need to take out the steering column and maybe even the dash board, prop the car up on stands and remove it. Is it just one piece or does it run over the...

Body frame part behind front wheels

It could well be. Is the bulkhead the metal (behind carpet) that the clutch pedal may touch when fully pushed down to change gear? The front wheel was pushed up into the cabin causing the accelerator pedal arm to be bent left. Does this sound like the bulkhead that has been dented in?

Body frame part behind front wheels

Can someone please help me? Any ideas what the name is for the body part that is behind the front wheels and make up part of the arch? It seems to run accross to the other front wheel. I had a crash and the wheel got pushed up into it, cause it to dent quite far into the cabin by the pedals.

Swapping alloys and discs from Clio to Megane

I'm in quite a bind, not sure whether this will work or not, or more to the point, kill me! My smashed up Clio 1.6L Dynamique+ 3dr has new front discs, pads and tyres. While I get this car fixed I purchased a Megane 1.6L Sport Alize 2dr. The Megane is 20KG heavier than the Clio and has roughly...

Accident repair advice, body and structural

Involved in an accident(pics below), my car has quite a bit of body damage as well as a broken driver side CV joint and wishbone. Airbags have been deployed which in turn cracked the front windscreen. So far, from calling around, I have found an accident repairs specialist (used by many...

From the midlands, a delayed Hello to all

I've noticed this. The only ones I have seen, 3 so far, have not been Dynamique or Dynamique+. Enjoy. One less. Damn J reg Land Rover came around a blind corner in the middle of the road. I snaped her front right CV joint as she did with mine and bent her rear axle out by about 15...

How many miles/how much fuel a week?

Currently I get 22.5MPG (computer reading) and top up with £35 a week of 108Ppl V-Power 99. Probably giving me about 275 miles to a tank. No commuting, just social driving.

From the midlands, a delayed Hello to all

I've noticed this. The only ones I have seen, 3 so far, have not been Dynamique or Dynamique+. Makes me special, I like feeling special, suits my personality :approve: I was wondering, in a Clio sport, 172 or cup, can one high rev? For example I get the entire rev limit to play with, changing...

New disc and brakes, and lowering

That was just a little joke about my road driving. I would like to track day my car sometime, maybe Castle Combe. Any ideas if there are Clio meets at Castle Combe?

From the midlands, a delayed Hello to all

I've been on here for a while now but didn't get around to saying hello. Hello. Big thanks to everyone that has helped in my forum threads/posts. Hopefully it will help others as it has helped me. Here are a couple of pics of my beauty. Got her in August. She superseded a 60BHP 02 reg...

New disc and brakes, and lowering

Update. Brembo vented front discs are fully coated, Mintex Extreme front pads are fully bedded in. I will come clean, instead of just using the slip patch on the back of the pads, I added copper slip on top, and this may be the cause for the occasional squeak. Squeaking only occurs when...

    Brake Disk Fitting Guide?

that sounds about right mate. On this 200 mile run i just did, the braking has got a lot better, i think they just needed a few more miles put on them, I didn't give them the chance to heat up or cool down this time, just abused them all the way. Im going to be fitting Mintex Xtreme pads. I...

    Brake Disk Fitting Guide?

Luckily my discs can't warp under the max temps that they will reach so no worries there. I am due to do a 200 mile run over the next couple of days, this will hopefully sort out any uneven surfaces. When I get back, i'll let you all know how they are now. Also I plan to fit the new pads when...

    Brake Disk Fitting Guide?

Finally got my Brembo 259MM vented front discs fitted. For the bedding/breaking proceedure I chose to drive around for 10 miles with gentle braking. After this I did six 80 to 10MPH firm braking, making sure I did not use the brakes below 10MPH. This seemed to be ok but after I drove around for...

    Brake Disk Fitting Guide?

Right ok, I will use the old pads to brake in the new discs. I can then change them over with the new pads when they need to be. I was worried I had to put new pads on with new discs. As I already have the new pads, I can change them over when ever. Thanks.

    Brake Disk Fitting Guide?

Yeah I kinda of did bring this one out of the archives didn't I lol. Nice tips guys, much appreciated, I totally forgot about cleaning them off before hand. Just incase anyone is wondering, the screw heads on the discs are Torx T40 heads. Use T30 or T35 and you will mash the head, easy to...

    Brake Disk Fitting Guide?

Today I have been trying to do the same, I eventually got as far as taking the two screws out of the disk after going to Halfords 3 times to get the correct tools :) My brake disc just wont budge, I have used a hammer and even a sledge hammer to get leverage. Lubricant just doesn't seem to help...

New disc and brakes, and lowering

I dont care much for looks but I want better corner handling. If it can go 60MM with no problems then I might go 40MM, that must be enough for better hadling.

New disc and brakes, and lowering

I have heard bad things about Halfords. I've decided on some Brembo discs from APD in Cirencester and Mintex pads from Merlin Motorsport at Castle Combe. The reason behind my decision is that I can't wait for a delivery and would prefer to buy them and fit them on the same day. Would I...
