Darren. Do you remember at Chatsworth a few years back we were looking at that sprint spec bmw 4 pot on a stand that had a massive turbo on the side of it and I'm sure that was 1400cc... the guy said it was pushing a thousand horses.
It's funny seeing the Applecross road pics, especially the one with Daz's BG overlooking the same gulley with the loch in the background... Unfortunately DTV was parked behind the 182 here, and didn't quite make it into the shot.
BTW, have you still got the K-Tec exhaust that I fitted on her? I...

Hi, I'm Steven Greenhough, from Manchester, I was the owner of Y795 DTV for 5 years. I bought her from an old couple in Cheshire in spring 2007 with 29k ish on the clock. I immediately got the 'big' service done at RS Tuning in Leeds, belts and all, she needed discs and pads allround...
Every time I've spoken to Darren, since he linked Callum's For-Sale thread, he's been more and more excitable. CS-ers reading your post will probably get the gist, but I can vouch for his almost obsessive regard for Evo's, particularly the VI; it's been in him since they were launched. I just...
Hi Guys,
Not been on here in a while. TBH the flamer has been a bit of a pain in the @r5e in the past and over the past 18 months or so has not seen much 'proper' action. That said...
This trip was ace. And so was the car; I said to Daz, more than once I think, that she just kept getting...
The limit is dependant on oil temp, not water temp. It takes a little longer to warm the oil thoroughly, so even when the temp guage looks good the oil may still have a way to go.
If you drive it a bit harder it'll warm up a bit quicker, but I'd try and keep it from hitting either limiter if poss.
I picked these up today. Before I fit them, what difference (lower, firmer, etc) would I expect to see on the car?
None/Marginal/Radical/Pointless/Disaster?
Have a good look at the clutch pedal; it has a fairly complicated mechanism as the cable goes through the bulkhead at an angle.
I gave mine a good clean when i bought it and slapped on some fresh grease, and that smooth'd it up a bit.
Does anyone know where the Fuel Pump Relay is located on a phquick?
My car has an intermittent starting problem that has not been cured by replacing the TDC sensor.
Starter motor and battery are strong, once the car has started it runs fine. It doesn't cough or splutter; it just doesnt start...
My 172 (ph1, 2001, 42k) has decided that it's not so keen on starting up anymore.
The symptoms are:
The starter turns over fine, nice and strong (so prob not battery/alternator)
It doesn't cough or splutter, and when it does catch it idles, and then drives, just fine.
It can Take 5-6 good...
Fish out of water? Lol, will they still 'allow' you to tag along when you're all Evo'd up?
Lovely cars as always, look much better in the country than cruising (Blackpool) Sunset Strip.

Erm, yeah, sorry.:o
I was just hoping to avoid any 'Death and destructin is imminent' type possibilities, and I like to be as specific as possible with my questions so that I get the most accurate answers.
If you can be @rsed to do a search there is a thread about what I went through when I...
Dan, not sure it's a bit too quiet to hear over roadnoise at that speed.
Wheel's back on and I'm off to Ikea in a mo so I'll have a good listen.
No probs about gearbox oil, it was on the list for minor service alonside power steering fluid in March anyhow.

The BJ's are identical accross the range, the only difference is that the bolt holes are bigger on the 1*2 to accomodate the larger bolts (easily machined), and the bolts themselves have a serrated shoulder at the very base of the thread, that grips the steel plate where they mount to the...
No loss of drive whatsoever, BJ's are 6mths old and the play isn't there anyway.
I guess the only way to know if it's the drive shaft, or the diff/outdrive, is to remove the driveshaft and see where the issue lies...?

Nb I've just repeated the test with the car in gear and get exactly the same amount of play until the slack is taken up and I can turn the wheel no more (drivers side still on the ground).
The clunk is a bit harsher as it comes up against the dead-stop.
S.
On Sunday evening I noticed a very slight 'clunk' when bringing the clutch up and the front wheels took load, coming from what I then thought was the passenger front wheel.
The sound was very slight and whilst it has not increased in volume or harshness, it has become more frequent, occuring...
'Bout 3/4 an hour ago, not sure on reg as flshed past the entrance as I was on my way out, 2 male occupants, looked rather low.
No CS sticker that I could see.

Darren S put a full EBC setup on his 182; Turbo groove discs (cheesey name) and redstuff pads F&R.
He says it's noticably better than standard, although tbf alot on here don't like EBC gear on the clio.
Yozza, RSTuning et al do full various upgrade kits that you can look at on their websites...
Now that's better, a nice sensible answer and the method that I have actually used in the meantime, using a quite strong shampoo soloution ala' claying, but not too much at a time, and a microfibre cloth.
Thanks David for taking the time to give a nice reasonable and intelligent answer, if only...
Tape over holes, tape over dirt, ergo whole activity becomes pointless. Where would be the sense, common or otherwise, in that?
Unless you know of any tape that can magically suspend itself in mid air and form a watertight seal with the material next to it...?
In one post you try and insult me...
