Just a bit of an update incase you are interested. The detail completely stripped the rubber coating off. They've been sanded down and I've primed them both, and top coated one (ran out of primer after the first one). Should have them both done by tomorrow. Thanks again for the tip.

Thanks for the tip. I soaked the first one overnight last night and I just checked it earlier and the rubber coating has completely fell off. Perfect. The second one is soaking now.

How long did you soak them for?

I got the powerflex Exh001 the other day. It fits perfectly. Take the old mount off remove the remains of the old rubber and the new one slides straight on.

Thanks for your input. I was kinda set on a couple of basic changes filter, exhaust & remap and then tighten up the suspension. The brakes will probably just get attention as they wear out. I have to say though, I used to have an Audi A5 but the 172 is much more fun to drive than the A5.
