MY 172 Cup fitted with 182 manifold just failed MOT as it has a decat .I have not got original cat .A friend has a cat off a 172 phase 1 i can borrow , will it fit OK with 182 manifold ?

My 172 Cup ( very modified ) returns over 40mpg , it is over 200kg lighter than 197 so there is part of your answer ...................Front spoiler on 200 ..... evolution ! improves front grip/ downforce etc , brilliant ! I want one on my car.............. Granny Steve ....

I am lucky enough to have both ... 197 looks superb , impresses people and has a great chassis but I think the 172 Cup is " the daddy " .
Thanks for answers .What it boils down to is I was about to have head work on the 172 carried out plus maybe cams , which will run to the price I can buy the 197 engine for .I figured if I could use the head and / or cams for this project I could keep the block spare for my 197 if I need it ...
