Today a mate and I set about fitting some DIY upgraded exhaust mounts (as seen on here a few times). My standard mounts had sockets in them to stop the sagging exhaust and this is something I wasn't keen on. As you can see from the photos, we cut away the old rubber from the mounts and squeezed trimmed Powerflex rubbers in to the holes. I'm quit happy with the result and it's a lot better than having sockets shoved in broken standard mounts.

I've had these for quite a while but I saw someone else posted a photo of their little model LY Clio so I decided I wanted to do the same.

I have two model Clios! Both are 1:43 scale - one is a Jean Ragnotti 172 and the other is a S1600. I have a few other models as well (non-Clio) but I won't post those in here, maybe we need a thread to show off our model cars.

It cost me £19.99 posted - it came from China, so it is no doubt a cheaper copy than some that you can buy. But for the money I am very happy with it. I had been searching for one for absolutely ages until this came up!

Drove to Dunstable today and met MC182 to swap dashes. I left with an absolutely mint flocked upper dash fitted which I'm very pleased with indeed. It needs a little clean (dusty) but I think it looks superb. Got a couple of photos this evening:

Made a trip to J4K3's house this evening and picked up a mint sprayshack engine cover. I always wanted a nice painted one and am very happy indeed with this one. Cheers J4K3 - top bloke.

Clio passed it's MOT this weekend with only a driver's side TRE needing to be replaced - happy days. The MOT itself only cost me £12 as I bought it on Groupon for a local garage (In Town Automotive, Northampton). Tax due this month as well.

6 months tax paid up so we're good to go into the new year! I keep meaning to do my headlights with the 3M kit I bought months ago but the weather at the moment will probably put me off for another few months haha.

Just thought I'd post a mini update that will have a massive bill!

A few weeks ago my alternator packed up so I took the 182 to a local garage and got a new one fitted, shortly after this I noticed that the aux belt was touching the tensioner, which was later confirmed as being caused by a seized tensioner. I was pretty annoyed that the local garage hadn't recommended that this part be renewed having later found out that this should really be standard practise.

Anyway, fast forward a week and my 182 is now currently sitting at 519 Automotive having the full cambelt and dephaser package sorted out, plus a few other little bits and bobs.

I can't wait to get it back fresher than ever before!!

Took a picture of the Alternator they've fitted with the incorrect pulley on it. It's a larger diameter (meaning the belt length would be compromised) and the ribs are out of line with everything else so the belt wasn't running straight.

It's so obvious to look at. Really annoys me that the original garage didn't pick this up. At least it'll be right this time - cheers Dan. ;)

Went over to 519 Automotive this evening and met Dan to collect the 182 - it's done just over 94.5k miles and is now sporting new cambelt, aux kit, dephaser, and alternator (second time lucky!). Dan also gave the rear brakes a going over and fitted new pads as they were sticking. Initially drove the car home from 519 in traffic but I could instantly tell it sounded soo much better (tractor noises gone) and it just felt lovely to drive. Left it a few hours and just got in from a half hour drive round the county and I absolutely love the 182 again! Before Dan did his work I was getting a little bored and fed up with it but it has a new lease of life now and feels as good as new to drive.

The old alternator is being taken to the crap garage in Northampton tomorrow and a demand for a full refund will be forthcoming!

Little update: the garage who did the shoddy work in Northampton have now refunded me so I'm happy with that outcome.

Well done for persuing that. Fair play to them for not fighting you on it, doubt they'll take on another clio

He wouldn't admit that they were at fault but he couldn't argue with the case from my point of view. He offered me a free MOT as well haha, not sure I'll take it back there though to be honest.
