90mm Spring bought and fitted tonight !!! (pic heavy)

  Clio '02 1.4 16v
I bought some rear springs 90mm earlier off a fellow CS member - Cheers Jon.G...and took the advice off him to just whip them out without undoing the shocker lol.

Just got back and fitted them, so here is a few pics, opinions on whether i need to drop the front more now? And ill be getting spacers on by the weekend

you lot are bonkers, i dont want to point out the obvious but whats going to happen to the rear springs when you go over a small hump on the road? or am i missing something?

  1.2 y0!
i'd say the front needs to come down if the rear is going to stay at 90mm. is that not a big drop to be running standard shocks though?

Just see how it goes lol. I dont do many miles, same roads everyday so i know where the pot holes are lol.

The front definitely needs to come down to match it now, but on some proper coilovers, f*ck running that on standard shocks.

Even if you cable tie that in place so it doesn't just fall out, you've got the risk of the car coming back down and it not lining up properly and spitting the spring out behind you. Hells no.

Thought 90mm would be lower, iirc f0xys was 90mm on his 1.2 and that covered alot of the tyre! Oh and get some shorter shocks!

Recipe for disaster. I know people with 60mm springs that have fallen out with standard shocks.

screw how long the shocks last, its the spring coming out and getting wedged between the wheel and arch and wripping the tyre to shreds id be worried about or more so it coming out and getting wedged in the poor bugger behind you's intercooler or radiator

Or windscreen or crash helmet (Massa?)

Sort it out fella, that's stupid.

Sorry, but that looks very, very sh*t.

It doesn't help that you're running pikeyspec rear lights and wheels with a 254 offset.

Just no. Save and do it properly. Coilovers, spacers and get rid of everything that's making it pikey.

LOL @ the rear offset in this though.

Its low i'll give you that but can't believe you are running standard shocks! Thats jus dam right dangerous an as said before there just going to drop out! The shocks are going to be permantly running on there bumpstops!

1. I run those springs for about 8 months, though they are a terrible design, made of custurd and the coils sit inside themselves, i never had an issue with them failing to locate, and i did quite a few miles over potholes and such!

2. The reason it hasnt gone down to 90mm, is because you're sitting on the standard bump stops rather than on the actual spring! what ever shocks you use youll possibly have to cut the bump stops down to go as low as these springs can go. but tbh, i wouldnt because they are so soft they go almost flat!

This.

I have first hand experience of running Apex Springs, and one was half out.
I was on the Motorway at the time, whipped out the shitty jack and managed to raise the car up enough to boot it back in.

A week later I had coilovers, LOL.

Unsafe blud, unsafe.
