"Wow, My Willy Works" Dave.'s TDF'd ITB & Cammed 182

Re: Dave.'s Trumpeted Engine Spec, Cammed Up Gunit, 2118'd Carbon obsession

DO NOT BOTHER.

Stick them on ebay, and then get some Pagids / Ferodos / CL's / PF's.

Or in fact, get the pads, and a block of red leicester cheese. Lay pad upon said block of cheese and cut around. Fit new and improved "EBC RED leicester STUFF" pads, and enjoy a similar pedal feel to all the other EBC products, but with slightly better brake performance.

Also Danish blue works, its apprently the race inspired pad.

When hot they smell lovely.

Also try their line in engine oil...

Love the advert Dave. You work for EBC ;)

good stuff! lol @ professional confirmation of tripe pads! Pagids mate, seriously ;)

what's the retail on those these days?

Bad luck with the PAS mate, but glad you got it sorted quickly!

All this EBC talk is making me nervous, i bought a set but havent had the car on the road until last weekend! They seem fine on the road but i kinda know now im going to murder them on my next trackday! :dapprove:

Kepp up the good work on the car though!

It's like any pads mate, unless you bed them in correctly they won't work to their full potential. DS2500's are average when news, but put a few DECENT heat cycles through them and they are miles better.

Woop woop picked the car up and is spot on. Freds a top lad, and was a lot cheaper than first thought.

Cheers to Tony for the lift up too!

That's a bugger Neil, not seen the gp on Turinis yet!

As for RC5's nope.

I've decided on DS3000's on Fred recommendations as I'm obviously a b*****d to brakes!!

CL RC5+'s

/end thread :p

they're s**t too, don't rate any CL pad

the ONLY pads allowed on clios are as follows

PF97 or 01 (or anything from PF) - f**k the paint work, grow a pair of balls, the car is only worth £3K tops
Ferodo - Any

the end

im running the pf97's (front and back) and they are fantastic, yea there is pitting and quite abit of dust.. i thought sod it if the wheels go manky a little sand and respray
they do like to eat discs and for some reason mine like to do a lot of sparking if you havent seen the pics (pf97's with brembo hd discs)

cars looking great btw

A few updates!

I met up with Jenic off here the other day and we sorted a little deal for my recaro's for his fixed buckets, met at Donny services and swapped them over. Will miss the luxury of the recaro's but the way the new seats hold you in place is brilliant, have so much more confidence in the cornering abilities of the car now! :D

Not a great Pic but you get the idea!

Also today i spent the afternoon giving the old girl a bit of a service, it has full service history up to now, but to be honest i doubt ill ever sell it so im happy with servicing and just making a note. Its only been 8k since the last service but with three track days and the ITB's since the last service i thought i may as well.

So i got the following:

5l Valvoline SYNpower 5w40 Engine oil
Genuine Renault oil filter & sump washer
3l of elf 75w80 NFP Gearbox oil
New Gearbox sump plug washer
7l of Renault Type D coolant

All sorted fairly easily draining etc, until it came to removing the old oil filter, what a b*****d!! because the trumpets are right over the top i had to go in from the gearbox side underneath and was v difficult to get it undone, managed it in the end though!

The oil that came out of the gearbox smelt wrank and was like treacle, the new oil has spruced the gearbox up quite nicely! It literally took exactly 3l before it trickled so i must have emptied it well. Also im not sure if its the placebo effect, but car sounds a little quieter on tick over now, maybe ive cheered the dephaser up with some good quality oil!

All sorted!

Next on my list of things to do is to pop and see fred for some new Brembo HC's as the bluestuffs have killed another set of discs, Some DS3000's and some new fluid.

lol, he tried to swop those for my Recaro's as well, but umm, how do i say this .... the 'Plus' ones were a little too plus sized for me ;)

:dapprove:

You know the 2 plus is smaller than the 2? Its not much bigger than an evo at all, but a lot roomier than a rev.

Look good though dave

Sorry Stu didnt see this until now, ill be up at freds end of the month more than likely mate.

Since the car has had the cams in i have noticed a leak coming from near the VVT solenoid, and this eventually pools and then drips on to the exhaust manifold. its not enough over the past 6k to have noticed the oil level drop, but annoying all the same so i bought a new VVT solenoid seal from Renault.

291e6d51.jpg

I removed the solenoid and it didnt even have the bloody seal on it! You can see where the seal has been removed, and not replaced by the ring of gunk at the top of it

And hes where the oil was pooling

8fc3e4cf.jpg

you can see where it was draining off to!

So i fitted the new seal and gave it a little mop up, hopefully that will solve it. Not particularly happy about the seal being missing though :dapprove:
