i read on their blog, that once you go over your speed just slows down so you wont be charged, then you can opt to pay for one of the bolt ons.

That still doesn't excuse the extra £110 O2 will charge me to continue with the same inclusive minutes as now!

so i can transfer my number to a new micro sim?? sorry but dont really get all this, only found out about the iphone 4 yesterday and im already creaming myself over it. lol

Yes. If you upgrade, you have to agree to the new deals. So you'd have to pay £10 extra a month to get you another GB.

How do you use that much?

Will customers on old "unlimited" data contracts be forced to move to a capped limit once there minimum term has expired.

o2 Replied:
if you're on an existing contract then you're welcome to stay on that for as long as you like. If you upgrade to a new phone however you would need to move to a new tariff.


Now I'm thinking about just NOT upgrading and keeping my unlimited plan! o2 charge over £1 per megabyte you go over! I would get bills for thousands of £'s!! OMFG this is STUPID!


edit: I use my iPhone for EVERYTHING. I work a lot and I am always emailing etc, it runs my life!

It'll end up costing you a bomb mate. You'd be better off buying it PAYG and continuing your contract..

so they will do all these things for 1000's of people on launch day?? ie. can i just walk into phones4u/orange and get a iphone and get it all transfered??

Yeah, course they will. This is very important for the networks.

Orange might do it instore for you. Not sure Phones4U will have them..

the preorder on Apples site is only if your buying outright, i thought i read somewhere about o2 doing preorders on the 15th but if you read the o2 blogs and facebook pages etc etc they are pointing towards the 24th as the earliest date possible to get it.

i hope they do preorders tbh!

Apologies if im stupidm but im a new iPhone user (had mine a few months). I've currently got an iPhone 3G with about 14 months remaining on my contract. Can i buy the new iPhone on pay as you go and just chuck my current simcard into it? Will i still get a year warranty with Apple?

No idea mate and we won't know until people start opening them up. But as every network has them available, it seems silly to lock them all down. We'll see..

Nope, you just are eligible for an earlier upgrade.

Platinum get a 6 month early upgrade, Gold get 3 and Silver/Blue get 1 month.

meh, no use to me then, although strangely paying the £240 to cancel and starting a new contract will work out cheaper anyway, 30% discount with o2 through work

this 'decreasing your data and charging you more per month' has made me think twice about getting an iPhone 4 now. Dont get me wrong, I cheered so loud when the conference was on, I'm a huge iPhone fan, but o2 restricting like this has really pissed me off. If I upgrade I'm losing the unlimited data, and I use about 2GB per month! If I dont upgrade and just buy the phone, I can't really warrant spending about £500 on a phone outright.

So gutted.

I was the same at first but there's no chance I'm using anything other than an iPhone ever again, and I'm a sucker for the latest Apple stuff, so meh. O2 know people are going to buy it whatever, so they've got us all over a barrel anyway.

What phone you got now?

I sold my 3GS tonight (locally) for £320, so in theory it'll cost be around £130 to buy a PAYG, and stick to my current contract.

I'm ordering through 02.

I get a trim little courier bird. It's been the same one for years! I had a crack once, but our bitter old receptionist told her what I was like. :dapprove:

I'll just do mine over the phone and get it delivered. If it's not here on day one I'll hardly be cutting my wrists.
