Awesome topic.

I'm not a fan of what you have done mate. But I'm pleased to see someone out there has the balls to try something different. Far to many s**t standard 172/182's on this website....oh but they are so TOTALLY AWESOME after a 13 hour clean.

For all the nobbers, this is what your car should look like or be inspired to be like -

Dont think the sarcasm translated too well there?

Sell yor 182 mate, buy a 172, job done tbf.

Don't think that you noted my sarcastic answer to his sarcasm mate ;)

And ,for the 100th time, I won't change my car to an older model just because I do not like the bumper.

It's like moving to a older house because I do not like the door of my current one.

Well it's not.

a house is a massive investment and would take a lot of time and consideration to just simply CHANGE it.

Yours is a french pocket rocket car that takes about 5 minutes to change a bumper..

As I do not seem to be able to find an 172 PH2 bumper easily, I decided to try something different until I do.

I got two 55mm chrome exhaust tips and cut them so that after connected with the exhaust I would not have the problem I had at the beginning (extruding exhaust pipes but almost 5cm).

Now the exhaust looks nice(r) and sits behind the bumper.

Current setup:

what are those things on your bumper? they look s**t

should have stuck with the old exhaust but mounted it properly

The s**t (as eloquently put by the "gentleman" above) are protectors for when my family drives the car as I cannot afford to paint the bumper in case of parking accidents.

Any comments should kindly focus on the exhaust tips.

For easier comparison see pic below. It looks MUCH better than it originally did.
Will still keep looking for an 172 bumper.

I still cant get my head round it :S You chopped off your original 182 exhaust tips and replaced them with "stealth" style tips. Then put on some cheap looking autosave jobs to make it look better. You also put on bumpstrips of a trolley onto the bottom of your bumper to stop damaging the paint as you cannot afford to get it painted yet your looking for a 172 bumper?

I really cant see why your doing any off this. The simple option would have been, find a bumper, chop your exhaust and then put your 172 bumper on. All in one go.

OMG!!! Look at the TIPS and NOT the bumpstrips, my dog has more focus than some of you ...

I put the bumpstrips so that my family does not damage the bumper before I sell it. (and as for the "clever" comments not to let my family drive it then you get me a free car for them to use and I won't let them, some jokers in this forum ...)

Already have 2 people interested in my bumper, waiting to get an 172 bumper for me now but, mean while, I am trying to get the car to look as good as possible.

It looks s**t
Get 172 bumper and paint it then chop exhaust ;)

lol, I love checking up on this thread from time to time. Its full of win :)

WHAT! I dont understand that! Why dont you just cover your car in bubble rap if you are that scared of damage?!

surely if they are going to damage the paintwork, they shouldn't be on the roads? 'Cos it wont just be your paintwork they will damage, it will be other peoples too !?! :S

For future reference Driving lessons are about £20-£25 per hour IIRC

I should tell my insurance company about listening to some of the people that post in here but then they would not insure me ... ;)

Tell them what, that I put 2 bumper protectors or that I changed the exhaust tips? :(

Have you considered having the standard tips re-welded by an exhaust shop and having the exhaust mounts replaced, as it looks like your exhaust mounts are very worn.

The worn exhaust mounts are probably the reason the exhaust originaly looked so sorry for itself, and if they get any more worn the exhaust will be hitting the rear beam soon anyway .

Exhaust mounds are brand new. Exhaust now looks great with the chrome tips so I do not really see what the problem is.

At the end of the day mate, its your car; its up to you what you do with it.

Personally, i would've saved the hassle and left the original pipes as they were, kinda looks like cut down 182 pipes now.

Fair play to you for being different though. :approve:

they just look a little weedy, but dude it's your car. Like you've said before your taste in modifying cars is a little different, but gets the job done in the end!
