I was just thinking of how cool I think the K-Tec 197 looks on its 18" Turinis - so no harm in a photoshop :) Great shop work by the way P4ers! I think it's looks sweet on the 17" Turinis tbh hehe, sorry :p

Any chance of one with Superleggeras ;)? If I do change my R27 for a Nimbus 197, I might go on the springs and 18" Turinis...

I agree Turinis are bordering on obsession on this site though hah, I only chose them because they were the only 'other' type of wheel I'd seen put on the 197 before.

I don't have anything against Liquid, or the R27, I'm just rather unwell and have a very bad back, and I'm starting to struggle with the hard-ness of the Recaros in the R27, and also the depth of the bucket with the really tall and hard sides of the back and the base. But I love the drive of it so much, so I'm thinking I can maybe stumble on some good luck and swap (or some cash either way - hopefully not from me as unless it's like an 08 plater, I reckon the market value of a LY R27 would be a little higher) it for a standard 197 with the normal RenaultSport seats, as I find those a lot nicer, and also easier to put a cushion on, as they're not so deep heh. These are all just side thoughts now, but of course if someone was to appear with a lovely 07 Nimbus, with 15k on, rear tints and a little bit of cash my way - I'd be *very* tempted hehe ;) Mine's an 07, with 13k miles, and a FRSH of one service hehe.

I had two of these Dynamique s 138's...nice cars just a shame the suspension doesn't match the engine.
Rolls like a small fishing boat in high seas!

Reason i had two...bad handling put me upside down in a ditch...nothing to do with my excellent driving of course.

The body roll on standard Mk3s is just unsafe !!!!

Agreed, it was terrible on those 138's.

I would have thought Renault would have uprated the suspension to match the performance of the engine.

Must have been the same as my standard set up it was terribel even at 30mph round a corner ever since coils it handles like a dream though !

I think it will have been the same, just a case of dropping a big engine in was the impression i got.

...im not 100% here, but r u not able to buy the seats u want and swap them with the recaros in your liquid, but keep the recaros for wen u resel and just swap them back over? plus the recaros wont hav a chance to get damaged in the time u hav the liquid? then sell the new seats seperatly on here or ebay ??

Yea but finding a pair of the RenaultSport seats won't be easy - I daren't even think about how much Renault would want - then there's collecting them, and having someone fit them (I can't do it), finding somewhere to put the Recaros etc etc.

That would 100% be my preferred option but there is just far too many hurdles to get over heh, and I'm sure I'd be costing myself a fortune.

Realistically, I know I'm not going to find a swap of course - why would someone want to? They'd of just bought the R27 at the time. I guess I'm just gonna have to look out for one similar age and miles as mine at a garage, and see how close I can get to a swap. Probably better off at a independant rather than a Renault dealer of course.

heres the car on 17" Superleggeras did it exxtra quick so doesnt look amazing but u get a gd idea :)

true true, either way ur unfortunatly gona loose some money, shame really... well hope it goes well however you do it, ul just have to ask about and hope you get lucky!

  MKIII 138
looks good lowered m8 :)

would you say the unsafe handling has gone ?

also change the tyres for a more performance orientated design as the 138`s will just be normal tyres.

17" would increase the grip from a wider tyre i would think too :)

  Cupra 300 ST 4drive
138 tyres are contis, they are very good tyres, as for the unsafe handling what a load of bollox, it will hang on in there all day long wallowing about;)

  Renaultsport Clio 197
Yeah they have Continental Contact Sport 2 Tyres which are great...and expensive, if i remember rightly i paid around £110 a tyre for those.

  Clio 197 F1
It handles so much better now, alot less body roll however there is still some body roll.

As for unsafe handling i wouldn't go that far it was a little unstable but that has gone with the new springs.

There was a set on ebay a while back, so just keep an eye out!!!

how much did they cost u all togetha (fitted and delivary etc) ? whats your plans next? spacers?

  Clio 197 F1
£140 to buy from europerformance including delivery.

Ben_p of the forum fitted them for me so cost nothing to fit.

Yeah defo spacers next, 15mm front and 20mm rear.

After that i plan to get a stealth exhaust fitted, air filter and have spoken to RS tuning who are going to do me a map for it.

Not to sure if I'm being optimistic but hoping to get about 150bhp from her.

I’ve taken some proper photos today so will post them on here later on.

good good, sounds like a good plan, am gona keep close tabs on this thread as im ordering one asap, just trying to get it at best price i can find.. also gona have around £2000 max to spend on it wen it arrives and all this info would be gr8ly appreciated :D i recon 150bhp would defo be achievable from a remap, filter and exhaust especially since its basicly 140bhp already, surely 12bhp more wont be hard to get, id even think u may get a tad more :S. do you plan do to any of these anytime soon soon?

just think if i went as low as Dave138's then my sides and front would be very very close to the grond lol....

DSC01286.jpg

Mines down 30mm (though no one seems to notive lol) Not had any problems yet with my sides. There a Lassy near me with hers down 45mm with skirts seems to be ok.

Love the car dave tis looking great. Spacers will just finish it off a treat. Need to get my front ones on really need my wobble situation sorted first.

well usually a remap on a decent & run in engine can put 8bhp extra out. so that would be 146bhp. however with a decent filter ITG + reroute air feed and exhaust a bit free`er id rekon another 2-3bhp would be possible.
this would probably mean if your lucky a genuine 146bhp with the potencial for 148-149bhp.
the best thing is the stock torque levels are slightly higher than the 182`s ! and its avaliable lower down. the remap + other goodies should bring torque upto or close to 197 level.
with the 40kg`s lighter car this should at least make it a nice drive and decent to overtake considering its MPG,Ins and tax id think it would be a nice sleeper effect and would be at least ST150 pace

I wouldn't do the remap and things till it was nicely run in, like 10k sort've thing - because if it's anything like the 197, it isn't unleashing the fury till it has some nice mileage on it. But, tbh, I wouldn't do any of it anyway whilst the car was under warranty.

Well, not any of it, I'd do springs and maybe a cat back... But not a remap and induction kit - as the induction kit won't make a noticeable difference and also if the emissions light or EM light ever come on, what do you think they'll blame...

ive never had an emission light from an induction kit before, and a properly designed exhaust shouldnt hurt too much either. I even say that a decat would still pass the MOT on a new low emission engine like this :)

also he and others are not going to wait 3 whole years until the warenty is out ?

do you realise that RS-tuning sell the remote plug in box now with two maps on, 1 is standard (for those warenty claims ;) ) and the other is the map. its good because often the ecu will adapt mapped or not to a certain style of driving, if you feel its getting a bit slower than when first mapped you just plug it in an remap yourself again :)

I agree about the milege, id get a good 9k on it before i mapped.

Only thing with that is youll have to get in touch with Henk and give him your Vin number so he can impliment your car to the system then hell have to fine your car to get a standard map off of to do a coustome one for you...

Im just waiting on him to fine a 1.6 to get a map from then i will be getting myself the kit along with a tailord map.

yeah if you have a laptop and the Tuner then yes you can get the info yourself and send it on but i have neither atm:(

ktec sell the plug in box too with RS-tuning map. There wont be a 2.016v engine map for the clio 138 but i live near leeds and have had a map before from rs-tuning if anything i would expect my car or others to go down first for him to work on it and then push this map to a plug in module for others to buy over the web.

there is only RS-tuning who are good at this stuff, he always gets more power than the others and yet the rollers he has under read so you know your getting an acurate figure + pauls service and enthusiasm for renaults is in part thanks to pumarrys leeds. His dads renault specialist service center which i think has been around now for 50 years !

places like superchips etc.. suck compared to rst.

shite man... i never thought that different sizes from front to rear could effect the handling badly :S ? i was gona plan on putting 25mm front and 30mm rear :S... but then again im no techno-t on things like that... im guessing putting the same size spacers front and rear should improve the handling tho? since itl b wider ?? or am i totaly wrong?? :S :S :S :S

i remembered you menchioning you wernt goin to get the full coilover kit, u didnt want to pay that amount. did u find out if they would actually fit the vvt?
....does any1 no of any other coilovers that will fit, between around 500-600 instead of paying 900-1000?? r they actually worth that amount!?
