A massive thankyou to all the following.

@tom172cup For the engine crane and transporting the car.
@Russ_16v For all the advice and parts.
@NorthloopCup For all the advice and gearbox and diff.
@Dan@SJM For the full rebuild and sorting out mine and my mates cockups with the engine.
@Fletcher + @TimR26 For the motivation and little helping hands.

The car will take some getting used to again im sure but feels tight as a drum. Really happy with the extra bits i took the time over and all the new parts thrown at it.

Video to follow :)

Now iv had the car back a week now i thought i should share my thoughts on the car as it stands now.

First off the biggest difference is the Quaife Differential. It is one of the most noticeable changes to a car iv ever felt, the whole car feels different. Some if it im sure is down to the fact iv not driven it in 10 months but it is like Night and Day. It accelerates harder, the turn in is better, exiting a corner is faster, what a piece of kit. There is no hesitation through the corner it just grips and keeps pulling you round. The speed difference through a corner is crazy, it instills so much confidence.

The price will put people off im sure but trust me if your on the fence they are 100% worth it.

Another big change in the Brembo 4pots. Iv had the Willwoods Midlights before on one of the previous Clios and they both feel the same to be honest. After running standard calipers on my PH1 the performance of 4pots over standard isn't massive. Obviously the Brembo's are lighter but the standards more than stand up to the task. Suppose i got them for looks mainly. So glad i kept them the factory Alloy and not painted, they looks so understated. The 300mm ones are massive though. They only just fit under a 16' wheel. You can't run wheel weights its that tight. Also you would need at least a 5mm spacer as they would also foul the spokes.

And finally the engine......... Dan has done an amazing job and it feels tight as a drum. Cant fault anything about it. The power is so linear now, would love to get it on the dyno.

Il update this thread in the coming days with my plan for the car.

The Quaife is amazing bud isn't it!?

Really took me by surprise the first time I experienced it on the road!

Granted to really notice the difference you have to drive like an utter t**t out on public roads, but get it out on track, and it's money very well spent!

Interesting to read about your thoughts on the 4 pots, as that's on my to do list. Glad to see its all good.

Top work Chris.

So plans for the car......

With OrigneRS just round the corner i want to get the PB looking its best, with a priority of getting the interior sorted 100%. Need to source some new Mat's and could really do with a new front carpet as original has a hole in it. Also would like some new seats. Have had Trendlines before and wouldn't of minded another set. Not the most supportive seats in the word but in the PB i think they would of set the car off quite nicely. Finding a set of theses before ORS would be a tall order.

So next weekend im collecting a pair of Sportster CS from @dablk  Perfect for what i want, Supportive, looks awesome and will add a bit of individuality to an already rare car.

Also need to sort out a new splitter is iv cracked and scratched the Carbon one :( Will probably go for a Fabia one. Also really need to sort the exhaust alignment. Looks like it needs new mounts. Whats the opinion on them these days ? Do powerflex now do something ?

Photos of the bits that need addressing.

She is scrubbing up well so far, Been keeping on top of the bake dust on the new alloys. Needs some protection on the paint to mask all the small scratches. Also need to sort the minor dents it picked up when being off the road. In the long term a lot of the paint will need addressing, but that is some years off yet.

Yesterday started off with picking my co-pilot up at 4am and making our way up to Haydock to meet @dablk and collect the seats. No traffic on the journey up thankfully and only need to make 1 unscheduled stop as the washer fluid was empty. Got the seats nicely fitted in to the back and headed back sown South. Stopped off at @Tim. for a quick catch up and then too the back roads back to mine. Nice drive back again no traffic :)

Got them home and had not planned to fit them until next weekend. Couldn't wait that long so started on the passenger seat. Started by fitting the JonFoz frames and getting the old seats out.

Bolts removed from the original seats all ok. Have had nightmares with doing other sets before and was dreading it. All came out without any issue thankfully.

Got the Pretensioners fitted along with the rails first off, all fitted on nicely with no problems. Great design the lower adapters, Well recommended.

28055120044_1eb1bc2012_z.jpg

Got it fitted in but as you can see its tilted off to one side slightly. With being up since 03:30 that morning and considering it was 7pm i called it a night.

28594110021_a135c63158_z.jpg

Enlisted the help of @Fletcher this morning and set about leveling the passenger seat off and also 'Modifying' the slider rail handle as it hit the bottom of the seat as locked the seat in one position. Fire fixes everything.

28640229506_edaa25e026_z.jpg

Turned our attention to the drivers side and found this with the pretensioner. Had to drill off the old rivet to remove the rail so refitted with a nice black one.

28640228836_ae57b258cb_z.jpg

No level adjustment really needed on the drivers, just removed both spacers on the tunnel side and used a washer. There not 100% level but its hardly noticeable.

All in all there an amazing seat, the driving position in absolutely spot on now. Feels a lot more comfortable and secure. Going to be taking the car the Rentec soon so Mike can swap the steering wheel and give it an oil change in preparation for OrigineRS.

The seats look amazing. Absolutely stunning. Well jealous.
I tried to get to @dablk 's house for 8:30 to see you as I was there to pick up some bits too but missed you by 10 minutes.

Had this all pretty much spot on for ORS yesterday. Had sorted the exhaust, cleaned it up nicely and put some finishing touches to the car. As it was going out on track fro the first time also i gave it a good check over last weekend and also Friday night. Topped up the coolant, topped up the oil and doubly checked over the car.

Arrived at Goodwood with plenty of time too spare. Got setup and signed on. Passed noise testing at 94db and went for the drivers briefing. Was second out on track with Tim leading. By the 4th corner he had gone :) Took it steady the first lap and then onto the second. Felt amazing, diff doing its job perfectly, engine pulling very hard through the corners, felt great about the following sessions.

Came out of the chicane on the second lap on to the pit straight in 3rd. Foot down and already a noticeable drop in power, 4th its really really not liking it. Before i know it the engine in tapping around 2k. Immediately get it on to 5th and coast the rest of the lap. Limp it back to the pits :(

Unsure what has happened but seems like it got starved of oil. Not happy as i had planned to get it to Rentech for Mike to give it a oil change before ORS..... How im regretting that now :rage: Will be getting it to Mike ASAP to see whats the damage. As you can probably see i hae sunk a lot of money into this in the past 3 months so it might be off the road for a while. Especially if it need major works.

I wont be doing the work myself this time round either.

I don't like updating this thread without pictures so here is one for a couple of years ago in Wales.

Is it a bottom end or top end knock? If it's a bottom end knock I'd say it's spun the centre main bearing. Just like they all seem to do! If it is, it'll be terminal I'm afraid mate.
