STOLEN AUDI S3 this morning, at approx 1-2AM!!!! this is the second time I'm writing this thread, as it's the second time thieving b******s have been around to my dads house, broke in and got away with his car!!

S3 hatch 3dr in sepang blue!!!!

Private plate was PFL 22, don't know if it's still on the car but when his A6 was stolen before Christmas it was found in the west brom area....if everyone could keep eyes peeled!!

They Don't need To do that now mate they take all new cars through obd port , piss easy tbh my Clio was stolen the same way if you are just relying on your factory cat one DON'T ! anyone who knows what they are doing with right kit will take it as easy as if you have left the keys in the ignition ! Bout time manufacturers did something about it or hot hatch insurance will be back to early90s prices !

Genuine question - does he really want the car back after it could have been red-lined for 5 miles? The thief could have taken drugs in it, had sex in it, bled in it, who knows what.

Wouldn't you just let the police find the car and criminals, and let the insurance company deal with the loss? How often does a thread like this result in a successful prosecution, or finding the car (see the point above).

Ah, I've seen the OBD tools, mainly on the Fiesta ST's etc but OP had pointed out second time his dads house had been broken in to and they'd made off with the car so assumed they'd grabbed the keys from wherever he normally leaves 'em.

It's a bit sh*t that you have to hide your car keys in your own home but needs must.

Back on topic, it's very very rare that burglars etc will cause harm. Normally if you startle them they will run. I also don't think anyone is going to risk potentially murdering someone for a Renault Clio.

95% of the time they fish your keys out through your letterbox without even putting the door through. If you're that worried in your own home that someone will come in and perform a massacre on you then you may as well hang your keys outside your front door with a note inviting them to take it and maybe a tenner for petrol money.

I see both sides of the coin but its just not worth it really. Maybe as you get older logic changes slightly.
I remember years ago when i had my first impreza, came in late and it got broken into on the drive within an hour of me being at home. I was probably 22 ish at the time and decided the best idea was to grab the largest kitchen knife i could find, walk down three flights of stairs and into the road acting all 'rambo'. That could have gone wrong on so many levels as i was told thieves tend to wait after an alarm goes off to see what happens.

On the flip side i never had any other issue with any other car i owned lol

Meh pretty irrelevant anyway I guess just wouldn't go out my way to bother hiding keys for my car (clio) or an S3. Maybe I would with some cars.. .

Hope the car gets found. If its stolen and parked up to see if its tracked its probably not been abused much or anything so hopefully it gets back okay.

I had my Leon stolen this way. Had my actual car key with me at work (50miles away, have a work van) spare key was hidden under floor boards in a built in wardrobe and they still found the key.
If they want it they will get it, broke into my house at 4pm and spent 2 hours destroying my house.

Sorry to hear this horrible feeling, hope it gets returned in one piece.

Audi's are prime targets - we've had two attempts on them (different cars) at our apartment block in 12 months. They've got that bad 'situation' where they are numerous on the road, so they don't stand out in traffic or being parked up - but they also carry significant financial value. Pretty much a perfect car to steal from the thief's perspective. Plenty of them out there AND with a high value.

Very easy to part out too, like you said there's lots on the road which makes a good market for selling parts.
Being a premium brand you can get more money selling stuff on that you would parting out a Ford/Vauxhall.

I think alot of the time they or the parts get sent abroad, where the buyer usually can't tell the car is stolen.

Surely your dad is now going to at least get a cctv system or disable the obd port, hide the car keys or something like that. It's highly likely to happen again.

At the end of the day you pay for insurance which covers losses such as this, and you pay taxes, which pays for the police force and criminal justice system.

Well cameras don't stop thieves coming and stealing but may deter them in future!

Funny when the police came round the first time(when the A6 was stolen) he joked about them coming back and pinching his new one....and lightening doesn't strike twice!

CCTV won't prevent anything being stolen. It may act as a deterrent, but a £2.00 hoodie from Primark combats that.

I'd probably spend £5.00 on a dummy camera. If they got the keys through the letter box I may move them out of sight, but not too hard to find once in the house. Probably a house alarm too.

You don't have to disable it every time you leave the car. You can get a little box that will block the port or you can even move the port. It's not like you need to access it to drive the car. Would have thought you knew about this especially since ST's are being nicked left right and centre. But I hope your dad's car is found OP. Such a shame that these scum can't be locked up long enough to set them straight.
