Would you like a rep?

  182/RS2/ Turbo/Mk1
As mentioned I dont think being a rep really adds much credibility anyway TBH, I setup a meet a couple of years ago in the SW that is still thriving to this day despite me not even being there anymore (callum etc do a great job of keeping it going) and when I moved to the east mids I set one up there and it seems to have gone ok although obviously winter now so that makes stuff die off a bit.

Just give it a go, and dont be afraid to spam people with a pm or to to get started.

But far better to wait till about april time now, as if you try in the winter only a few will go then they will think its rubbish and then they wont go back.

I've done it before and it's shite, thankless and nobody turns up (could be because of me mind). I'd like someone to step up to the plate but they don't so therefore no meets get arranged and on it goes.

On a side note at least I can go to the monthly jap night in the scoob now. Jdm baby.

If Ive learnt one thing in 15 years of doing it, its that pretty much car club tasks are largely thankless whether thats running a forum, or organising meets or whatever, the people who are unhappy always seem to make more noise than the people who are happy, lol.

Helps if you are monstrously thick skinned like me I think, lol.

The french scene as a whole isnt massive, and the clio subset of that even smaller so its never going to compete with ford meets or jap meets etc, 15 people is quite a big meet in the world of clios, lol.

This is true. I've been to some good meets up here but now they're few and far between. Also (back in the mid noughties) there used to be some good driving meets but nobody seems that interested in them either.

Just started this thread to try and inject some life into the Yorkshire region so hopefully that may work......hopefully.

I think it would be a great idea for an area rep. It needs someone who has the timemto out in. The onky probkem is that ive seen it on other car forums, Yorkshire meets always tend to be thin on the ground.

I was organising meets six years before you joined ;-) but that's not the point. I don't want to be a rep but I like attending the odd meet but there aren't any. I guess the solution is to just carry on as we are then where there are no meets and dog s**t attendance at bigger events.

True this, a good dedicated area rep will organise meets, where as a normal member just cant be arsed.

Im not on facebook, this was copied from vxronline...

Below taken from Posty Cruise FB page:

Ok guys and gals there will be a posty cruise on Sunday the 22nd of December (weather permitting)
There will be no list this time! cars for the show side will be chosen at the gate and please don't arrive before 6.45, Hope to see you all there

Not sure if anyone is interested or not.

I agree there should be more meets. Been to a few and a couple were alright, one of them was just 6 cars in the end!

I never agree to come and don't show up and can appreciate that some people have to cancel sometimes. The best ones i have been to have been late afternoon on a Sunday where it is busy. The ones that are earlier on have been quiet. For me i work weekends until around 4.30 and i know quite a few other people work similar times at weekends for the Yorkshire area.

I think if some effort is put in towards summer when its still daylight in the late afternoon we could have a good meet year for non driving meets.

Any idea where?

The above cruise is at TOPO (The Old Post Office). Where we usually meet Spinksy.

I'll come along in my new motor providing it is 6:45pm lol

I'll probs still go if it is 6:45am tbh, just need to do some shopping at meadowhell before it closes :L

Tbh I wouldn't mind being a potential rep and trying to organise meets if people were to acknowledge that I am trying to organise meets to get Yorkshire sorted out and not just think: 'oh it's spinksy f**k that!' ...

I would prefer to give it a trial run with input from a few members without the blue name though

Do it then mate, I've got no issue with you been rep.

Tbh then mate I will Jim, I will come up with a few ideas for meets late January, early February and post a few threads tonight

Aslong as you and a couple of others in this thread don't mind having a bit of input on meet ideas etc...

I have been thinking about a go-karting meet/rolling road day* at some point as these always seem to be successful in the other areas... Could have one in March/April which should give plenty of time to organise it and find the most suitable venue :)

*NB: these would operate in the way that they do in other areas where they get organised, figures together and a deposit taken (remainder paid on the day)

I would be up for this mate, rs tuning should be about the best for a rolling road day, you should email them and ask them how much for how ever many they say we can have of us, and when they could fit us in etc.

I would say february/march time at least tho with xmas and all coming up.

Yeah I figured March/April time would be best for those sorts of meets mate :) it's an ideal excuse to get mine on the rollers and maybe a cheeky map ;P

I shall have a look into logistics and email them for details and pricing etc and post a thread up as soon as I have it all worked out details wise

I'm up for karting and driving meets. If you do a RR day with RS Tuning see if he can do an offer on remaps on the same day. If you get yours done same time Spinksy he might do us a deal.

Not a meet. It's a cruise. I never go as it usually attracts the 1.2 handbrake brigade. Think you just turn up, pay in, listen to dubstep and get high.

This - it's A bit bad boy for me.

Oh....

I read meet :/ well cruises aren't generally my scene so I will scrap that and do the shopping instead lol

Jim what do you think to the above meet ideas though? Something you would be interested in?

Any ideas for more central meets?

Snake pass, somewhere around there for a meal, then a drive?

  RB Clio 182
Sounds fine to me mate, I really wanna drive snake pass, and food is always good lol

Tbh mate, i am up for anything aslong as im not working, i work sun - thur days regular so im home for 2:30pm. Im usually free most weekends too.

It would be better if we could find a dry day to meet as i prefer my car to look clean lol, i hate it when its mucky.

Sunday afternoons seem to be the best times for most and Saturdays should be good aswell :)

I will stick a thread up tomorrow/Saturday with proper details for the above meet and a couple others

Dependent on turnout I will start to organise the Rolling Road meet and maybe a Karting meet after that and take it from there

It sounds good mate, once you get the ball rolling, it will snowball gathering more and more people, its just getting that spark to get it started in this region, theres more go in a dog with no ballbag.

Im up for any driving meets and would like to put the scoob on at rs tuning.

Driving meets I'm in as long as we have plenty of notice, would like to have another run at RS Tuning after the timing has been sorted. Possibly get andyclio200 involved as he brought plenty of people along from Meg/197/200 forums along too.

Not sure how practical it is to get maps done at the same time, IIRC it needs a decent number of people to make it worthwhile running the RR day and a map can take 2/3hrs so time wise it might not work. Worth speaking to Paul about though to check.

@MrTom @leeds_182 @Spinksy

Youre right. I doubt they would be able to do that many cars but If there were say 4 or 5 wanting maps im sure they could do it all in one morning in a meet stylee.

leeds_182 depending on the price I might be up for it, but for a stock car with just a yozza can't help but think a full live map from Paul's a bit over the top.
Spinksy what about getting a PM out to all the Yorkshire members inviting them to a meet. It'd be a good idea if those who are bothered enough, i.e those who have posted in this thread, can agree on a date/place/time and stick to it so that if people are interested we have at least 4/5 cars at the first meet. If people turn up for the first time and it's cancelled or one person turns up it'll die on its arse.

Mi doubt you'd notice the difference for the money. There's better stuff to spend your brass on. Just get a dyno and then you can compare what difference any future mods make.

Ey up :) heard name mentioned so thought would say hello, don't get on here that much of late but hoping new year is a little less eventful.

If anyone wants a hand organising any meets am more than willing to give a hand where possible. The Yorkshire section over on 197/200.net is looking at setting up some more regular meets and drives out too so will post details over on here and try build some inter-forum love ;)

I will be heading over to topo for Sundays cruise so if anyone else is wanting to have a blast down and a chin wag just give us a pm and will sort out meeting up.

Gonna be sorting a go karting night over on 197/200.net so how about joining both forums together? Think we need about 16 people so will give the idea a shout over on there and try sort a date for the new year.

Think the area does need an area rep to get it up and running again. So let's make 2014 a good one :D

O.....k if this imaginary hate is so much of an issue to everyone then sorry if I offended anyone by trying to get people together who have a passion for cars. Will disappear back to there then lol
