And you will be able to hear the car running, as buying a second hand engine can be a bit hit and miss.. did only 500 miles in mine before it span a bearing and cracked the block.. so far it cost me 300 for a new bottom end and 300 to get the bearings changed, new cam belt and built back up...

It would be nice if they were as sourcing a decent block would be a hell of a lot cheaper than looking for a 172/182!

I've just had the same issue.. mine spun the main bearing.. knackered the crank and cracked the block for a laugh!! :eek: Fortunately I'll be going on holiday for a week so at least we won't be fighting over the first one ;)

I guess its a case of opening it up and assessing the damage.. do many people bother getting things balanced lightened or hardened..? as now would be a good time if its worth while

Ahh, interesting as it seems a bit of an air pocket, but then again that doesn't really differ from many of the front wheel drive engine bays

I was joking about the ribbed.. lol Don't worry to much about the price of the Air filter.. as numerous tests have shown it could cost £200 and you wouldn't see much over standard.. What ecu are you running? Well other than my printout I guess it's just a trip to the pod.. £5 filter and all...

fyi.. I had 2 runs and achieved the same figure, and then asked for the filter to be removed.. I had a run without it and lost 3bhp

Yep £5 filter and a longer ribbed intake.. it's the ribs that make the difference ;)
