I am coming to the end of my 1 year placement at a private ferrari place (i wont say the name in case they check this and get moody that i've loaded up photos) so I thought I would share some of the cooler cars I have spent the last year working on and driving around the place with you guys.

Love it.

I walk past one of your colleagues houses most days, he's got a Hillman Imp looking thing, lol. I've seen some cool motors outside his place, DC5's S15's etc etc, never an F40 though.

Can I have an invite to your next open day?

I know this may spark hate but at the end of the day a job in a garage is still a job in the garage.
It is good experience but there's plenty of just cleaning cars and tidying up etc...
The cars are why I'm there and they're pretty damn good haha

the dc5 and s15 are owned by a guy who works there. He also has a trophy, although his mum drives it at the moment :)
Go through latimer village, often times there's a porsche gt2 or mclaren mp4 (boss' house) but occasionally there will be an enzo or f40
I have no problem inviting you along, bring some clios next to mine and have a CS corner ;) not sure how the boss would feel about that

WOW!

what was your job description?

Junior technician (garage b*tch)

But I have worked on the restoration of those 2 275 gts's in one of the pictures (one is battered) which has been good experience. I'm currently help rebuild the engine on one of them so with 6 weeks to go hopefully I will be able to finish it before I go

Jesus man, properly jealous of you like you wouldn't believe!
Are you leaving through choice or was it just a temporary thing?

Haha, tbh all I would want to do is sit in and photograph F40s.

As above, are you choosing to leave? If so, you're mental if there's a position there.

If I could go and do that tomorrow, and get paid no different to what I do now, I'd be there tomorrow.

I'd love cleaning them, fixing them, the learning involved. Just everything.

Kind of gives it away where you work.

I guessed as much, does Ben still work there who used to own "Angle works"?

Rob, i worked on Aston Martins for over 8 years and then went onto Porsche and Ferraris working in a bodyshop for 4 years.

The money was proper crap, its the bosses that have it off large.

  An orange one
Yep... That's car pornography and a dream job right there!

Barring the white F430 spider, that's not very tasteful

Do you mean Angel works? As in the guy off of here?

See that's the thing, surely after say, I don't know, five years, you'd have the experience to go and setup alone?? And surely not everyone treats their staff the same.

I kinda guessed the garage within the first 2 pics. Not hiding much.

On one point, working for Ferrari or a specialist is a job for life really. Sounds interesting at least.

Hit the nail on the head. The money is crap.
I've spent the last year working with these beautiful machines, and im sure I will get more experience, but I would rather be the owner than the worker so I am gonna try and move into car sales (possibly at ferrari) but more likely ford or somewhere, to try and make a viable career and make some money.

Yeah i was speaking to Ben ages ago, after Angle works closed he was going to DK to build engines.

Its such a close knit community to get into as everyone knows everyone.

Untill you have a good name whos going to trust you with there supercar.

This is who i used to work for.

Well I saw the name of the company on a van...... I used to check their stock all the time at my old work. Have just the most beautiful and pristine cars for sale that I spent hours and hours looking at.

An experience you'll never forget, that's certain!

Im 38 now but when i left school i went to work on the Astons.

All of my mates where very jealous and everyone said how luck i was to be working on such epic cars.

I started on £25 per week which went up to £50.

My mates where working in MOT stations, on the buses etc and earning lots more that me, it all sounds very good but at the end of the day id rather work on dust carts and earn good money.

Great experience mate and its the best way to learn how to do things the right way, OCD FTW!!

My training is pretty slow, as it is for the other trainee guys. The problem is, it's still a garage with people who dont want to pay tons for labour, so it gets done by the technician and we just tidy up. Sometimes we do get to do proper stuff and it obviously depends on the urgency of the job and other circumstances, but I don't think it's a good idea for me to stay there on fairly low pay to train for something which is still fairly low paid and gain a limited skill set. It's what I have decided through being there, and that comes also from the advice of the mechanics I work with day in day out. It's a cool place for a 19 year old with no prior engineering experience, but I want to do something more so I'm going haha

Yeah at the base of it all, a car is a car. The mechanics side of it is essentially the same as a bmw, except with sh*tly put together ferraris made by drunk Italians 40 years ago, nothing ever goes back the way it came out

  E46 M3 & UR Quattro
I love them.

I was lucky enough to get a ride home in one a few weeks ago from Goodwood where we had been racing. That is an experience I will never forget...... BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSST

Don't..

Honestly, it actually depresses me that I will probably never get to own one, let alone drive one. I stood staring at one at Supercar Sunday for nearly an hour, it's literally the best car ever built in my opinion.

Yep same as the old Aston Martins.

My brother in law worked at the same aston place as me, he was there for 20 year's.
His now left and started up his own company doing chassis welding work.

Last car I saw was an old E type jag, full body restoration.

My apologies mate, there have been stories of the odd barn find one. You never know haha

Very lucky!

My friends dad has just finished restoring his F40, I really cannot wait to go out in it..

Anyway the picture with the red 288gto black Enzo and Blue f40gt? Looks like a couple of cars from Jon Hunt's supercar collection! The guy who has the TaxTheRich100 youtube channel :D

  clio 182 trophy
A guy I used to work with had a close family friend that is prepping his F40 up for racing. He showed me the video of him driving it and despite him taking it very easy as it is worth hundreds of thousands, it was quality. Such an amazing car! The noise is immense.
