Who people use this kit ?

  Cup In bits
I can side with you on wanting real advice other than hearsay but no need for name calling.

Get a gates kit (they make the OEM kit) http://bit.ly/1fMAbbp £75

Buy a genuine water pump from Adam circa £70

Buy a dephaser from Adam circa circa £125

Buy both inlet and exhaust cam seals from Adam circa £25

That's £295 which is a slight saving as your getting cam seals too.

Gates kit comes with the cam seals, don't bother with the water pump, money saved quality cambelt fitted.

Gates kit comes with the cam timing plugs not the the cam seals.

I would agree, if your half decent with a spanner just replace the water pump when it shows signs of age.

If you can't manage to post without calling people names I'll just remove your access to the forum. That goes for everyone.

Go on CS ask advice - advice gets given - ignore advice and carry on regardless lol.

This place aquires more and more retards every day.

Gates or genuine on the belts or don't bother imo. Get kwik fit to fit them.

i do think i was the first to be sayin stupid names tbh.

The previous owner of my car had some monkey fit the belts and the timing was out, it drove fine, or so I thought as I had never owned a sport before. I needed the dephaser replacing so just went and got everything done by Dan@SJM and when I got the car back it was totally different to drive after having the timing sorted and I couldn't recommend Dan enough. It may cost more, but it's less than the cost of a new engine, plus you get a warranty.

  DON'T SEND ME PM'S!!
There's nothing at all wrong with Dayco belt kits. Identical parts to a motrio kit, which you can buy from Renault with the same warranty as genuine bits.

Been fine on the burpspeed engine for a long time (actually was a contitech kit, again identical)

Nothing wrong with kwik fit martin. I proved that on my ''to do''

I've just read this.

I can't see why people are ripping the crap out of Dayco. Dayco are an OEM supplier, admittedly Gates supply to Renault but that does not make Dayco a non event.

I have a friend who is an italian car specialist, in particular Fiat Coupes (of which I've had 6) and Alfas aswell.

The cambelt job on a 5 cylinder 20VT is an absolute arse and takes a real specialist. My friend, who is quite likely the number one specialist in the UK and Europe for years uses DAYCO belts. Period. Dayco are in fact the OEM for Fiat Coupes, and he swears by them.

As the OP has stated, if the kits were that bad Dayco would be out of business. But, they are not, and are still supplying to OEM's.

However, that said and in my opinion, since Gates are the OEM for this engine I would rather a Gates kit if I wasn't buying a Renault one. Failing that I personally would opt for a Renault kit as the price delta is not so significant thanks to Adam on this forum.

Keep the pump Renault if you can (but on back order at the moment) but maybe consider completing that at some other point in time (IIRC its NOT driven by the cam belt but the aux belt).

Its your car, do as you seem fit. I would stick with Gates or Renault, but please lets not knock a major OEM like Dayco just because they don't supply the original to Renault.

Cheers

Unipart gwp1166 iirc is another alternative for the waterpump, have one on mine for over 3 years no problems as of yet either..

TBH lol that you're having to get your Dad to buy it for you - how old are you, 12?!

I look forward to the "Engine lost power - started it, rattley noise. What have I done?" thread. Genuinely looking forward to it.

Listen to the advice you asked for and don't get arsey when people offer you advice that is contrary to your personal beliefs. If you thought you were going to get ceremonious support for this 'plan' you got it really really wrong.

If you build engines - why ask on here?

Boyfriends - you're seriously barking up the wrong tree. I'd have a "missus off" but a) lame and b) embarrassing for you.

I think someone's been stalking me. I'm flattered to be honest.

Anyway you're boring and clearly breathe heavily through your mouth. I'm out.

Was the whole point of this thread to argue your point against anyone else who has a different opinion? If so, congratulations, you've succeeded.

the " ive not been arsey " only applies before this banther chump , who wants to see people fail for sone reason ! , got involved.

Im not really a fan of someone who i have never spoke to or seen telling me about my capabilities and knowledge. Bit rude IMO

Interesting thread, however, working with people who have special needs, I find it disgraceful to call each other "retards"
if you actually had to live with such difficulties for even a day then I'm sure you would be a lot more respectful! Carry on with your wonderful thread and for the record I would take a majority look at what everyone is saying and go with the belt of choice and not carry on with such attitude in getting peoples back up!

If you come to sell the car photos of the belt change and the OE parts are always useful.
