I'm actually impressed with there valuation of my car. I put down about the rear bumper scrape, large dent in my door and front bumper needing a spray and they give a provisional valueation of exactely what I am looking for with no hassle of selling privately.

The latest appointment they have is 27th of July so i'll be making one in a few weeks for around the 20th of August and hopefully sell it and go off in search of a new car with cash in my hand so I can buy privately aswell.

That is if I don't find one at a dealer that will offer me a better price for it of course.

If you take it to them from what I've heard they knock of silly money for anything and even if you put the scratches in online they take off money.

I know but its worth a pop. I'll book an appointment and see what they say. Not prepared to take too little for it though. I know the bodywork isn't great but its got FSH, AC, good rubber all around, front pads 6K ago and is mechanically sound.

Its also not yet 4 years old and would make a cracking run around for someone not bothered about perfect bodywork etc. The problem with selling a car priveately is that people expect a mint car for the price of one not in mint condition i'm not a dreamer as i've only budgeted getting around 2.2K for it and that is what they've offered so far.

  182 has now gone!
they offered me £4k for my 182... Didnt bother taking them up on it tho, and I knew they would knock it down..

To be honest they're never going to offer reasonable money cause they want to make a profit. Think they're part of Carcraft so a lot of the cars may end up there

^^ exactly, dont see why people get so upset when they get offered s**t money...what do you expect?

Hmm probably not worth it then. I'll still let them have a look but I'm thinking now that you lot will be right. Theres still so much profit in it though, ones with good bodywork go at dealers for 4K with similar spec to mine so at carcraft probabely 5K, it needs a couple of hundred at trade price on it and they'll still have a decent profit especially when they add 29.9% APR into the mix.

I've been tempted to go down this route but heard loads of stories about them knocking £££s off the online valuation for minor things.

Really they want you to buy a car from them and will probably offer you the full online valuation if you do. Not that any sane person would buy a car from "carcraft".

Let us know how it goes mate, I might be doing this as I'll never be able to sell mine!

Will do mate. Had an offer of "about 2K, maybe a bit more" off a garage when I was looking at a 106 GTI so thats what i'm after.

I'm definately going to take it down though, they have a base only 6 miles away from me so I have nothing to lose. Except my rag that is if they completely take the piss.

+1 I'd be interested to see how it goes too.

Jamie? if you do sell it via webuyanycar.com you're best putting the car back to standard or as much as possible because I've also heard they'll knock more money off for mods.

I've just given it a go, and the online valuation is £2,305.

To be honest, if I was selling it, I wouldn't expect to get more than £2,000 anyway.

Actually, just read what it says underneath.

Need to raise some cash fast but not ready to sell your car?

If you're in need of a cash boost but don't want to sell your car, we may have just the thing for you! We've teamed up with Mobile Money who specialise in fast cash loans secured against the value of your car. There's no need to sell your car, no credit checks and no awkward questions – just the money you need from £100 to £25,000 and fast!

You simply drive into your nearest Mobile Money branch and drive out same day with your cash. You keep your car and they retain your V5 log book as security until you have repaid your loan - it's really simple!

Don't tell me that people are actually stupid enough to do that.

Just tried it for my old car (56 1.2 16v Campus Sport, 26K). It valued it at £3600. I got £4K from VW when I traded it in. You need to push harder at the garage with the 106 imo.

I tried this site out about 6 months ago when their adverts started coming on TV... Was not impressed to say the least, they offered me £1,000 less than the car was worth part-exchange value.

tbh my bro traded his corsa sxi in with them, needed new bonnet, all wheels were kerbed, missing trim, 80k on the clock and little in the way of service history - £1400 which i didnt think was all bad

I'd be interested to find out how many people actually go through with selling them their car. The valuations i've had for cars are laughable!

It's strange how they quote some people with decent prices and others with laughable prices.

For my Cup they quoted me nearly as much as I paid for it 6 months ago, probably more than I'd get if I sold privately. They also quoted me a reasonable price on my knackered Escort. I would have gone through with that one but didn't want to risk driving up there with no insurance and I doubt it'd have made the 10 mile journey lol. When you fired it up it made a tractor sound quiet.

i sold my 2006 golf gti to them a couple of months ago before i got the 172 i paid £10,000 for it and they gave me £10,820 for it lol thats the price they said online and thats the amount they gave me when they came to inspect and collect completely hastle free experience for myself and made £800 after driving it round for 5 months so well happy.
Of course this is only my experience with them id imagine they could be a nightmare most of time
