Water pump labour

  Clio 182
Just had my bill from the garage for cambelt kit and service etc I had done. When they were doing it they noticed the water pump was leaking so they replaced that too fair enough. But on the bill they have charged me 4 hours labour on top of the 6 hours for the cambelt itself which seems a bit steep. I remember him saying the water pump was a absolute b*****d to do but even so could it really take 4 hours?!

  A special one.
1/2 to do the pump when the car's already in bit's having the cambelt done.

Cleaning off the old water pump gasket is the hardest part.

I did think it was abit steep I'm wondering whether they had problems with sheared bolts etc I've had lots of work done by them before and I've never had reason not to trust them I'll have to have a chat with them. The cambelt itself has been done properly.

Thoroughly scientific but I don't get drawn in to this battle. If you are happy then that's all that matters.

I would definitely be asking for an explanation of that bill though.

If you didn't ask to have the water pump done and they did it off their own backs they haven't got a leg to stand on.

I'd get written quotes off a couple of the specialists and tell them that's all you'll pay extra.

some 182 can be a little bit of a pita getting thr pully it's self out, normaly ones that have been bumped. However many years of working on these you work ways around issues like this.

Well the engine mount is off anyway for the cambelt change so to get the pump off all u have to do is jack that side of the engine up till the pulley clears the chassis rail. Job done.

Or they rounded off those shite torx screws and thats why it took ages.maybe
