For every 8 Ford Escorts that was made, it was probably equal to 1 valver.

Ive only seen 3 valvers in 12 months (shows excluded) and I;m sure one was the same car as before.

I see Williamss far more often.

But I would be really intrigued to know how many were sold.

Well theres the challange then! Who will find out first? Answers on a postcard to:

Dear Mr Bamford

Thank you for your recent email requesting information about Renault.

I am pleased to say that the high visibility of our products and advertising is such that we now receive a considerable number and variety of enquiries from students, academics, communications professionals and the public at large.

Typical helpful Renault there. Useless wasters. What they meant by that letter was "weve just got some doughnuts and coffee in and cant be fvcked finding out for you how many of those old sh*tters we sold."

Thats a bit of a snobbish remark, i dont think their all old sh!tters, or are you saying thats what they would think?!?

That what they would think. I own one so I wouldnt think that!;)

Only the more helpful manufacturers that are reknowned for customer service would give a toss about some nerds asking about cars they made in the previous decade.

Well, I found them very helpful actually.

The lady I spoke to has taken my number and what the question was, having spoken to her boss and he said he couldnt get that from the system but theyre ringing another department to find an answer.

Whether they get back to me or not I dont know, but they seemed reasonable and genuine enough.

i didnt manage to find anything remotely helpful after loads of searchin, dunno if they ever got back to mr_merc or not....

I was told that theyd get back to me in the next week, so Ill wait and see. If not, I have a customer reference and phone number Ill be calling back ;)

i heard that of those produced only 10% ish have leather & considering at was a £1000 option im not surprised.

does any one have a standard one with it ?
mine is, apart from 195 tyres (the previous owner fitted them & i have just replaced them) and a willy gear knob (i do still have the original black one though)

they do seem to be quite rare, i only wish that was reflected in their re-sale value !
