V6 Remap??

before you read please be aware i am clueless of how remaps and ecu's work.

I have just bought a clio ph1 v6, it has a few mods such as full decatted exhuast system, ph2 v6 fuel rail-plenum-throttlebody, pipercross viper and has been rolling road at 253bhp.
Now the problem is it runs a Destek ecu?!? and is pretty lame / rough below 4k with a real bad flatspot between 2.5-3.5k. I asked the previous buyer about this and he said that its a piggy back ecu and doesnt switch over till 4k before that its the standard ecu running things?? i didn't know this is how piggy back ecu's work. I have a reciept for the ecu for over 900 quid and have heard of dastek before so i am pressuming its a decent one
Question's are will a live map fix this? (i'm told u can live map the car at anytime) do you know anyone who would map it (preferably up north) and also im going to FCS with V6clio.net do you know if theres any stands/people who are going that might have a look/map it there for me?

Once the car is fully warmed up it runs fine, but need that flat spot sorted and if your too heavy on the pedal in low revs it coughs and splutters a little as if its overfueling?? Also has a strong smell of fuel from exhuasts suggesting this?!?

thanks
j

bin the dastek and speak to matt @TDF (he's got a stand at FCS) and Paul @ RStuning, those 2 will sort you out

Just leave it how it is mate. the piggybacks a bit dimwitted, but maps on the vee don't give you anything. Mine also ran 253 with Map, zorst and IK.

Also i'm surprised a ph1 made that! baring in mind they only run 225-230 std.

well its got ph2 throttle body, plenum and fuel rail so basically a ph2 upgrade apart from ermm cant remember what else is different but i know there summit.
Along with the exhaust, filter and remap that its had done dont see why it shouldnt make close to the ph2 figures....

Sounds like the printouts you get from a certain well known specialist.

I'm not digging at you fella. I've heard about a couple of vee's recently with a lot of work which have come nowhere near what they were claimed to be making.

Yes 2 Vees that were done about 4 years ago at Owens and they're just now complaining of lack of power. I think the owners are sorting it out, but it's all gone quiet.

not many N/A cars are ... but with 4+k worth of work on the engine i would like to think 23hp over standard isnt a great deal... im not really wanting more power anyways i just want it to run smooth all the way through maybe keeping the crackles and pops

I think the complaints have been going on for quite a while actually. Hasn't one of them covered a few hundred miles and needs an angine rebuild?

Sounds like you'd be happy with it completely standard to be honest.

worth checking the basics, like making sure the lambda sensor is working before doing anything drastic. Flatspot at that rev point is classic lambda fault for pretty much any car

Ahh, cool thanks for that, I was wondering that after it was mapped by sg motorsport, he would have took it back fairly sharp. Maybe is just a sensor

Actually, that's the same as the other vee's I've been hearing about.

To be honest, any mapping company who will try to map cams which they know have been fitted without timing data, are in my opinion questionable.

To continue mapping such a car after they know there has been valve and piston contact is much worse.

Then you have the tuner who knowing all of the above will claim that a car is "finished"

Not good enough imo.

James, can you shed any light on the lambda theory? is it a common thing to go on the vee and have i the right symptoms?
