Quite a turn out!

What are those wheels on the silver one with the reg ending TWR? Not sure if I like them.

Prototype OZ's

they are pretty awful IMO.. But cool for the rareness

Having looked at them again, they really don't fill the arches properly and look to small, I would rather the standards or the magnesium ones that a few Vee owners have.

Yeah they are only 17" as we're intended for the phase 1

Thankfully renault saw sense and ditched them for the superturismos

  V6 255, 172's, JCW,

Sorry bud.. but they're 18". They just look smaller! ;)

As mentioned, prototype wheels used at TWR to gauge the most suitable wheel size/off set etc, rather than for the style of them. Being split rims, it becomes easier to switch rims rather than try to find or manufacture too many different wheels.

17" wheels of a similar design were used in the development of the ph1 v6.

Great pictures Duncan!! Gutted I wasn't able to join you as planned.

Great pictures, cool location too.

Why has TWR got a strange 1.2 grille?

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh some gorgeous cars there!!! I have an unbelievable want for a Ph2 V6!!!!!!!!!!!!! My bro has a bit of money to play with and I'm desperately trying to talk him into buying one so I can use it! I just love them so much! :D Such a cool car!!!

Oh right I didn't realise they were in both 17 and 18" versions?!

So did TWR still have a part in the development of the ph2 car??

  V6 255, 172's, JCW,
Hey Colin, yes.. very much so. There are pics floating about somewhere of ph2 cars at TWR before development was completed by Renault Sport. :)

Cheers Shaun. Every days a school day :)

Do you know if the cromodora arakna wheels on some development ph1's were also 18"?

  V6 255, 172's, JCW,
I don't know a great deal about those wheels to be honest. But as far as I can tell, they seem to have been little more than a design proposal to the earliest of cars photographed. That particular car you're thinking of even had flush fitting side pods, used in early development cars.

Ah man!!! I didn't know about this!! B*LLOCKS!!!

Whose is the illiad phase 1? The only other i know of is Craig's - 1 of 8 IIRC?
It was at ace cafe the other month mate, I'd not seen it until then. Yep 1 of 8.

-Rob, Saturday mate, you can see mine

I've sat in it before but you never took me out. Mean bro, just mean.

We can car swap for 10 mins if you want, as long as I don't have to do any manner of three point turn. :rasp:

You won't wanna go out in it in this weather mate. Balls of steel are required lol!!

It wasn't a long planned thing Craig. Will try and remember to tell you about local meets etc in future. You could always keep a check yourself though bud, it's not all old duffers on our little forum ;)

Cheers, if you could that would be great :) I only live in Essux so it's not far from me at all.

I'm not registed on there anymore, too many places & not enough time :(

Did old man James attend ?

What mileage is yours on Craig? You've owned that a while now haven't you?
It's on 49,650 Yep 6.5 years!! Only two previous owners too. It's due a cambelt etc, so I'm getting all that done & new brakes all round for winter. Hello £2000 bill

You should put up a thread, there isn't nearly enough coverage for Phase 1 V6's never mind rare illiad ones.
I will see about doing one at the start of next year mate as it's not really the right weather right now. I'll do one when I've given it a proper clean :)

No problem mate, fully understand. You can always re register and join an events group for prompts, just incase you slip my mind :/

The old fella wasn't there unfortunately. Give him a shout for a chat, I'm sure he'd be pleased to hear from you!

I didn't think he was there :( I do speak to him on email every now & again, mostly when I need something technical

Great knowledge on the split rims Shaun! I learnt something new there!

Will try and remember to let you know if any more local meets Craig, be nice to meet you and id love to see you car!!

Glad people enjoyed the pics, the noises the cars where making with the sound bouncing off the buildings were even more impressive than the photos!!
