URGENT - Clio 172 Gearbox Query

I have a Clio sport engine (year 2000) which i am putting in my Mk1 Clio 16v shell.
At the moment I do not have a gearbox, but have got the chance of a 2001/2002 172 Sport box. Is this year of gearbox the one that the speedo runs off the ABS? If so can it be converted back to mechanical?

yes it'll run the speedo drive from the box. if not just run a valver box how i was going to.

They varey - the JC5 129 box sometimes has a hole in the casing for a digital impulse sensor ( elec speedo drive ) and some dont as there powered off the ABS system. If you need a speedo drive in the box its best to buy that type - if not, it is possible to fit a mechanical speedo drive in a casing that doesnt have one. We machine the casings here and could fit one pretty easy for you
