I would love a Saph Cosworth. Prices for them just seem to be rocketing though.

I know mate. The prices for anything "Cosworth" or "RS" these days is stupid money. It's detached them from being the working men's super car.

It's nice in the way that it's a good investment, but a big part of me wants them to again be affordable to the working man.

I saw a GT40 this morning! (I mentioned in the other thread) but thought I'd say here too, obviously it wasn't a real one, but it sounded sweeet!!! and I love them!!

There's an 'older' gentleman in Stafford that drives a completely standard I think sierra cosworth. Looks lovely but he drives it like it's a normal car whenever Ive see it. Like he's just popping to the shops or something.

I like the cars he reviews and compared to others he's far less annoying, he's just a bit too GEEEZA for me, although i'm sure he's a sound bloke in real life.

while I was picking my car up from the MOT there was a metallic green G reg Granada Ghia, in fairly mint condition.

Stuck the reg in a MOT check and it had done 110,000 mile but had only done around 300 miles a year for the last 8 years or so. Horrible looking thing, it hadn't dated well at all.

Be thankful it wasn't the later one just called Scorpio, they were ghastly!

I wish the Capri bubble would burst, rusted piles of sh*t are going for silly money these days, at this rate i'll need well over £5k for one that actually runs and isn't falling to bits.

If they have a black series 1 it'll be Princess Diana's, if it's genuine. The dude with the bonkeRS collection owned it a few years ago.

The grey one looks ace, but if was factory white I reckon it would sell for more.

Here's one to make the enthusiasts cry. I had a couple of parts advertised and the owner of this came to buy something. When I first saw it, I assumed it was a rep, but no, it's a genuine Cosworth.

It was, to be honest, an absolute dog :( Obvious it was filthy, but the paint was dull all over and there was even over spray on the lights where poor repairs had been carried out. You can see in the first picture that the front wings had primer on them, but rust was coming back through, but the tailgate was also really rotten, both along the bottom edge and around the back window. The side skirts were hanging too. You could see the rust in the sills, so it looks like the rivets had just pulled out. Centre caps missing, front splitter/hockey sticks missing, the interior was a real mess too. Leather was pretty threadbare in places, bits of trim were hanging off and there was wiring hanging down in places, not to mention the fact that it was completely full of junk.

The bloke really didn't seem to care though. Said he'd owned it about 15 years, used it every day, regardless of the weather, and it had done about 165k (albeit only around 60k since a rebuild). He said he had a Saph Cos and a MK2 Escort that he was restoring, and that he would get round to doing this "one day".

Bonkers really, can't be many around that are treated like this!

I love people like this, if it was mint & he took it out he'd probably s**t himself about leaving it anywhere. As it stands it just looks like a crappy old Escort and most (unless they know) wouldn't look twice.

I still think they're the b****cks. Too bloody expensive now though!

I think the black one is one of their own custom cars.

Ford version of the singer so to speak

Edit
Cheers.
I've had chance to read both adverts now. Whilst I think they are both cool. I think they could have been miles better.
I hate the rear drums, standard seats (car look great on the outside, then wtf ? on the inside) and engine. If you're doing a no expense rebuild (imo) all of that needs replacing and upgrading.

That's not bonkers at all IMO. It's simply free motoring...with a possible big upside at some point in the future. That's what I was aiming for when I ordered my RS LOL

I know what you're saying, but I think this has perhaps gone a bit too far. To put it right is going to take massive, massive work. He said he paid about £12k for it and it sounded like the history was a bit sketchy when he got it. While good ones are worth big money, I think this one is so bad that it might only be a breaker to most people, so that might limit his return.

I know what you're saying. I do admire it in a way, but I think the neglect has been a bit extreme in this case.

I saw an old J reg black Granada Scorpio the other day. I remember them being quite big, but it seemed tiny. I also saw a black Scorpio (the fugly ones) with bonnet vents last night.

Cheers, had fast fords for 22 years. Series one rs turbo, 2wd saphh then this since 2008.

Nice M3 in your forum name pic
Cheer I sold it earlier this year but yep it was a very nice late manual one.

I always wanted a 3-door cosworth but fear they have now risen above what I pay for one. Plus I think a good sapphire has aged better.
