i like it, trying to convince a mate to get one. if you dont mind me asking, how much is insurance/how old are you? as my friends 21 and got quoted 2k on a 1.6 bora lol

It's cheaper to insure than my clio. So I'm very happy with that price. Also cheaper than quotes I was getting for a 1.2 16v Clio! LOL And when you are 17, thats what you do, pay through the teeth through insurance. My mates cannot workout how I get my insurance below £3k. It's called a phone, pick it up, use it! And they are all running around in tiny slower cars. It's hilarious.

To be fair, unless you've tried to do it recently, insuring a car for a 17/18 y/o is beyond a joke now.

Even on a 100£ mini metro or something it'd be over £1.5k.

What coilovers have you got that go so low then mate? As far as im aware they all go about the same drops. Its just getting the rear low. Im down to the minimum on the rear. Next step is to take the adjusters out but i need a arb upfront first.

Thats 24" floor to the top of the arch on the front on 18's.

Sounds good that. My rear's do look like they could have been threaded lower.. I cant go lower on the rear yet as itd look gash. its even at the mo. Still, im not happy..lol

On the other hand i like to drive mine quite quick so too low will limit that. Mine should be 230bhp+ now.

mate has a 51 plate Bora, same engine, suspension, size/shape and interior are very similar.

i didnt mean literally recycled

can tell mine is a Audi and his is VW tho lol

each to there own. The Bora is on the same chassis as a golf. Everything Is the same apart from a boot. Well actually a bora is better specced interior wise with auto wipers, auto dim rear view. Better dials and heater vents than golfs too.

Also engine wise they will not be the same. His will be a aum which is a revised version of the 1.8t with a k03s turbo. You'll find yours has a cable throttle and a k03. Your will need a chip soldered in for a remap etc

Coils are here now, picking them up tonight... HOWEVER, they won't be on until saturday probably.

Lol at insurance. I paid £1.6k for a 1.4 mk1 Clio when I was learning. Even managed to get a 1.6 megane coupe for 1.2 at 18.

And FLOL at 2k for a bora at 21. I turned 21 2 months ago and just got a quote of £650 for my 1.8 astra coupe.


Car looks nice though mate, I look forward to the progress.

Even though its only 3 years since I was insuring my first car at 17 it was much cheaper back then. My quotes and what I paid were much much less than what 17/18 y/o friends are paying now.

As for the Bora, I hate it loads tbh, but if you get it looking like the grey one on page 2 then I will change my mind.
