The £250 Dci tidy up

  BG DCI
So I picked up this dci 65 from south London.

It's got 107,000 miles with full history, a clutch change around 70,000 and a cambelt at 65,000. Recently had new tyres and brakes all round. Previous work also includes new window regs.

Was up for £500 which was cheap anyway but opened up the bonnet to find this:

I thought it looked like an injector seal needed replacing but am no mechanic. Ended up walking away with the car for £250 after a lot of negotiating.

Apart from sorting that it's got some serious water leakage problems so the interior is all coming out so it can have a dry off and I can stop all the leaks.

Scuttles first then re-seal the doors and check the sunroof.

It's booked in for some investigation Tuesday on the front of the engine and a service then should be good to go.

Oh how it's nice to be back in a little French car [emoji1303]

I'll keep updating as I do or find out more.

Cheers

Liam

Scuttles sorted...

Dunno where the right one is but both the others were clogged up and a lot of water was released!!

Now to start stripping the interior so it can dry out...

Never done this before...

Found the right one by going up the arch! All clear so that hopefully the leak done which was one of the last owners gripes...

30 minute job.

Just need to dry the interior so I can tell if I've fixed it. Maybe the sunroof needs looking into but time will tell.

I think they run down into the scuttle panel and drain via the 3 points you've already cleaned up. The Mrs dci has a leaky sunroof that at some point I will remove and replace the seal between the sunroof and boywork

  BG DCI
So the sunroof seems to all run away and down the scuttle exits perfectly so that's that done.

If I shut the doors and pour water onto the car it comes in through the door seals / windscreen one about half way down the a pilar.

Will have to get a new deal and some silicone when fitting it. Working onto the interior removal next.

And finding the missing bolt the little boy has lost:

Drying out the foam now and as for the rear...

The sound deadening went in the bin as it smelt horrid.

I've found where the leaks coming in from:

Not sure whether I need to get the door seal replaced or windscreen surround or this top of door shut seal replaced...

Will eBay some of the for an idea of cost...

Luckily it's just the drivers side!!

Fixed the leak!!! Lots of sealant around the seals of the door shuts!

Does anyone also know if my paint code was made in a RS. It's NV713, cherry red.

Think it's close to a Flamer?

Want to eventually do a RenaultSport conversion and not going to be much good if they didn't do an RS is my colour lol

Thanks a lot

No they don't, his was flame! I've had both and there's a big difference between them.

Ah. Ok then, so maybe my original questions stands.

This is the history of my £250 car by the way:

2015 top left, 2014, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4 and 3. Paperwork for every year with work done.

Pretty impressive for a little dci 65.

You know what? I totally forgot I owned a car with cherry and flame red on it! You can see the difference here with the cherry bonnet.

Ah, it's only subtle but noticeable!!

Thanks for posting that up!

Cars in the garage at the moment.

Leak was indeed an injector seal but the gent said he couldn't get the injector apart to replace it so it needed a new injector.

Full service is then being done with plugs ect aswell

Then they found that both rear brake cylinders are leaking so that's another chunk on the bill but should have a perfectly sorted car for £800 all in that's serviced, mechanically sound and ready to do 70mpg for me [emoji1303]

Today I met Graham, who was a top chap, to collect a full white dot 182 interior.

Managed to do all the door cards and trim, rear bench but stalled at the carpet and seats as getting under the car for the rail bolts was all too much after that lot before.

Ramps and axel stands one evening this week will get it done!

Should be a lot nicer inside (and not smell of damp!!)

Finally got round to fitting the rest of my interior with a neighbour's help.

So so much better and doesn't smell of damp.

Next up is changing the engine mounts and top mounts. Should help the knocking sound front right.
